Now i'm going to be all pins and needles for the week because of you lol
hahahha, I will let you know as soon as anything happens!
Nice to hear, hope that Okwonko stays with Wrexham FC! So the active talks McElhenney mentions, does that include Reynolds and McElhenney on their knees crying and begging Arthur Okwonko to stay? Or is it a much more business like and mature negotiation?😂
I hope so , and I hope they make. video of it too LOL I am sure it will be a bit of both.
yessirr lets go Arthur
Everything crossed and hoping!
Really nice to see the positive ripple effect that Reynolds and McElhenney buying and promoting Wrexham FC has had for not only the team, but also for it's fans and the community!
Its made me feel better about the town because I did used to wonder what sort of future it had. We’ve still got lots of empty shops but I think we are more attractive to people now because of the show and on pitch success.
I think that a lot of their plans are tied up with that first kop being built. But because they're running into a lot of red tape. It is stopping them from progressing in their plans for the team. Like I'm sure they were going to add a larger team store within the new Kop stand. Becuase of that, it says to me at least that there plans revolve around that first Kop being up.
I suppose they could add one there, can't remember what was on the plans now. It is getting redesigned though so who knows? Lots of red tape but also I think our back to back promotions have probably made them realise we need extra capacity on top of the kop too.
any club wanting to advance in the football league will become more and more popular, look at the top premier league clubs, they all have millions of fans worldwide, that’s just the way it is, if you wanted wrexham to stay in the trenches so you could have them for yourself then that’s not what being a supporter is.
Totally agree with you! Its sour grapes on their part.
Hard to imagine that Williamson, Reynolds and McElhenney don't have a long range plan already, it would be nice if they shared it with Wrexham fans as soon as possible. One of the strongest things Wrexham FC has going for it is it's local fanbase in the community. As for the issue with the merch, perhaps that is something Williamson will be bringing someone in with him to focus on that.
We didn’t get to see much of Ryan last season as he was really busy with Deadpool. We may see more of him in league 1 and perhaps then he will fill us all in.
I’m hoping someone like adidas do our shirts and that could lead to more stock and better distribution worldwide wide.
Wow, that was a great video, with many questions to be answered. I wish I could say conviction, but because I am so detached from the rest of you who are closer to the team, I can only follow along with what dribbles of information out of the mainstream media that I think is a little more relevant information from you, and others bring up here on YT. I have also pondered some of these questions. Reading what I can about Michael Williamson, I see he has a lot of experience and has done big things like stadium builds. However, he will need to bring in different people at some point. A season of team evaluation will tell him what he needs to change. The last thing the club wants is a Sunderland experience with new management, and I am sure management wants to avoid bludging them to get them to go in a different direction. You are correct; Wrexham will always keep the club going. One thing that I admire about Football in Wales or the UK, in general, is the city/supporter's commitment to the club, whereas in the US if the team stinks or the ownership is horrid, the fans protest and don't come to games. Then that comes with another set of questions, pre-Rob, and Ryan, about the attendance levels compared to now, which was 12 or 13k. Simon Jordon's comments about Wrexham and where it leads to going to the next level, where the financial foundational work is to get there and then maintain it, and as you said, it will take more financial commitment. Then we can say that the increase in attendance is driving the ability to pay contracts to attract new players, but the media deal with the show is like what is allowing Jeremy Clarkson to run his farm in the Cotswolds and lose money if that makes sense. We can see many things in the Premier League and the Championship League. For example, billionaire owners like Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, throw money at his team and do nothing. You have a club like Brighton that has played Moneyball and succeeded, whether the end of the season was a bit tough or even the Spurs. As you have said and others, it comes down to the infrastructure on the backside, the Management of a team, and the scouting, which is part of the infrastructure. I do think that at some point, the show is going to come to an end because it is the underdog story if they indeed force their way to the Premier League or Championship level, you have the correct answer; a YT channel can bridge that to the international fans, and indeed the ability to buy a kit in the US because as much as I want to buy one the shipping rates are just staggering. I apologize for the length, of this I am not know for short statements.
I agree with all your observations. We need to have a real strong infrastructure in place to even just maintain where we are now. A new training ground will be key for home grown talent and I do think Michael Williamson will bring in people he has worked with before. Agree about Chelsea too, they are lacking something money cannot buy at the moment. Not even just a YT channel, Ryan has maximum effort that could potentially have it's own Wrexham show. I know he started showing Welsh drama's on there a while back. But we do need to sort out the merch in terms of expanding what is available and also making it easier to purchase both here and abroad. The last two seasons we have seen many items out of stock and the scandalous shipping has put a lot of people off buying too. Pre Rob and Ryan attendances were low, also our performances were at times poor. I had a season ticket but didn't really need one, you could just turn up, buy a ticket and sit more or less anywhere.
@WrexhamAFCfanzone I agree; I think the tricky concern is performance. What happens if they struggle and slip back to League Two? Does the shine come off the chrome at that point, or do they get to the middle of the pack in League One and end up being there longer than they thought? So many variables might happen, and I hope they plan for the worst-case scenario to have a buffer if something happens. If this club makes it to the Championship level, can they do what they have been doing to get the talent without Rob and Ryan needing to sell more significant portions of ownership to compete? I am putting the cart before the horse. We still have to see what they do this season.
I mean you are right, what if we struggle next season? Its almost like we just expect to go up now, we can't get carried away on a wave. I have a video coming out later which talks about promotion next year funnily enough. I think Ryan and Rob will have to get in investors in if we did go up to the championship.
There is a website for US based fan shop now, but it's limited
Yeah I saw it , and its very limited as you said. But it is a step in the right direction!
Thank you again.
No problem, Frans 😀
No way we sell bicks. Loan only to L2. Dalby I’m fine selling. L2 mid table striker
Not necessarily sell. He was already sent out on loan last season to Accrington Stanley.
This was a nice video...perfect weekend one.
Thanks, Judi!
Good episode my friend
Thank you very much, Kenneth.
Thank you.
Thanks, Frans.
i don't know if we really need to wait for them to come back to hear any news, one of the reasons they are there is to watch players there and see if we can get someone from there. so we might hear some transfer news before they come back, if they see someone they like.
Really? Not heard anything like that this side of the pond.
I watched the match with Mark scoring the goal it was a wild match.
Yeah 👍 I quite like the format. It’s entertaining and fills the no football void here.
TST has been fun to watch. Different but exciting. Howard has scored 2, a game tying one Thursday nite and a game winner last nite. Plus some incredible saves. Big game today, 12:30 my time.
5:30 here so just over an hour to go. Do you know anything about the reggae rovers team? They have a very cool 😎 name but I’ve never seen them play before.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I haven’t seen them play but they won all 3 group games by a combined 16-3!! They are an all Caribbean based squad who have played in various professional leagues and countries. Very talented from what I’ve read and heard. Should be fun.
Always fun getting an update on what is happening at Wrexham FC. Was wondering if you were considering doing some videos focusing on the women's squad at Wrexham? One of the joys of the KZread algorithm is videos about women's football play popping up in my watch suggestions, have to say I have been pretty impressed with them.
Thanks, I have considered the women's team and have some footage of them arriving before a match at the racecourse. Just not sure now much interest there would be.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Seems to me to be a problem with women's sports both professional and amateur all over the world is getting interest and recognition up. I don't think gender should matter, there are some incredible athletes out there doing an amazing job. In the case of the women's Wrexham FC team, just think they deserve all the support Wrexham can offer. Tickets for matches, or likes for videos about their progress, it all helps.( 😁In my opinion from the sidelines in Canada.)
They are very well supported here in Wrexham. I've been to a couple of games on a Sunday at The Rock. I know women's sports are on the up especially in the USA. Story wise there are not as many about the women's team as there are about the men's. I will give it some thought though. There was a channel that focussed on the women's team. It was run by Carly, a young girl who was told to by the club to stop filming clips at the matches. I will look for it and link it here for you.

@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Thanks, will give it a look!
I can’t get tickets all of the time but to say R&R have ruined the club is ludicrous. I do watch another club as well for the first time ever because I like live football and match days but when I can get a Wrexham ticket I go. Wrexham will always be my hometown club and first club. Hopefully they’ll increase the capacity soon and everyone can go to all of the games. In the meantime any games I can’t get tickets for I watch on tv. It’s great to see Wrexham rising up the leagues again and we’re stronger than ever as a club.
Its just a waiting game that's all. As soon as the new kop stand is up it will ease a lot of the problems but not all. It will be a massive scramble for season tickets! Which other club do you watch?
Just like the US, bureaucratic red tape and palm greasing (playoffs, bribes, call it what you will) hold up everything decent! Lord knows the government needs their piece of the pie - the greedy ba$tards!
The place reminds me of Portland 30 years ago; it's too bad the rosebud has come off the rose there. Thank you for the beautiful shots of the area. Google doesn't do it justice. It's certainly different from where I live, in the Snake River Plains of Idaho. We have an oasis in the plains here.
I just had a look at Snake plains, the oasis looks beautiful. Lots of unspoilt land there too! Judi, in another comment on this video also mentioned Portland. Google street view or images is good but you can't beat either visiting or video really.
I love seeing more of your town! It's so quaint and beautiful. Thank you Tom and Phillip for the great video - I even loved the music. Excellent job as always. Have a good weekend!
Thanks, Shay! Have a great weekend too!
Translation: I'll see who offers me the most money - forget about loyalty and the 'love' for a club!
Lets see what happens, we might be surprised yet and he signs! You're right though, money talks louder than the heart!
hoping to get there one day
You would like it, most do 😀
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone my family is from Northern Ireland so I've been there and most of the UK except Wales. so it is on the list
Oh great! I've not seen much of Northern Ireland, just Belfast and Derry. I visited Dublin in Southern Ireland.
What do you guys think of Lewis Warrington? Just left Everton on a free transfer. Played 38 games for Fleetwood in L1 a couple seasons ago.
I don't know much about him to be honest with you. I am sure if he fits the bill Parky will be on to him though.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Well he did go on loan to Tranmere briefly years ago, but he is an Evertonian like. I think there's a player in there (at least Champ level) and was sad to see him go. But he's been ruined in Everton's shitty youth system 😂. Just a suggestion for you guys since I'm guessing you'll probably need a fair few new players for L1 football. And hard to go wrong with a free transfer. Either way, GL for next season.
I felt awful for Everton this year! The way they've been treated while the likes of City get away with it was unbelievable! I am sure he will be on the radar in some way. We've been signing some older players, who don't get me wrong have done well but we do need some younger blood too. Thanks a lot, hopefully we will do ok. I hope Everton have a good season too, its a shame because they got screwed over this season.
BTW...I CAN'T UNSEE THE TOOTHBRUSHES NOW!
Hahaha, love it!
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone 😂
I've said this before...reminds me of a cross between an American town and an American city...a patchwork of different vibes, a unique feel to it not quite like most towns/cities I've seen. It feels like an artist would flourish here...not cramped, but not too expansive where it feels a bit long to travel to a place within yet calm and nature is more considered. Sort of like Portland, Oregon, USA. The public spaces have art pieces, painted walkways and wall murals instead of bare expanse of buildings or walls. Tucson, Arizona USA also is like that in many areas. I love those sort of spaces...where modern ease and nature meld. That is my tribe, my safe space. I did go with my High school choir to Montreal/Quebec for 10 days in my Sophomore year, long ago. That was when they had 'Non' and 'Oui' on banners on their balconies and such...I think there was talk of splitting or something...but it was so different than what my home country is like, yet oddly familiar, too. I know...weird. It was a great time, and we sang with some Canadian school choirs in a competition and sort of cultural exchange. It was a blast..and we brought the sun with us, too. It'd been raining for weeks and the day we arrived in our 5 buses, the sun came out. Ten days later as we loaded the bus, the rain started again. True story. lol
You take the sunshine with you , wherever you go! Do you still sing? I would say Wrexham is a city by name now because it was awarded city status a few years ago but I still call it town.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone LOL That is exactly what the Canadians all were saying..."The Americans brought the sunshine and now they're leaving and taking it with them!" I still remember a club/bar....two levels...called Oxygen. One level had rock type music, the other had more country/soft rock. Filled with smokiness, too. It was so cool for a 17 yr old. I couldn't drink, but they let us look around sort of sight seeing, then we left. I've never been a big drinker, so didn't matter to me..I just wanted to see it because it looked so interesting from the outside. I do still sing, but at home, to my cats. LOL My children loved singing to them when young, but I sang Peter, Paul, & Mary songs, not lullabyes. LOL On here you can look up Couch Choir....I'm in one of those. If you want to know about it, let me know. You can do it when they start the couch ones again. Right now they are doing original Pub choir things. They are amazing and from Australia. www.youtube.com/@PubChoir Pub Choir was in person, in Australia. During covid, in person was out..so they did those you probably saw during lockdowns...and submissions from anywhere on earth were sent in, and she is amazing how she breaks the parts into 3 parts...you just have to see them. They've gone on tour to UK and USA and doing so again...so we get in person feel of it, too. I wish I could get to one they do in the USA but with no vehicle and low income, it's tough to get to anything due to transportation and finances. US doesn't have a good passenger rail system cross country, nor public transportation of any sort that is nationwide and available anywhere. Europe does. We don't.
Sounds like you have some great memories of that place. I just looked up couch choir, are you in the pub choir page? Animals love people singing to them, your cars are spoilt! Shame about the transport🥺 do you get out and about much? I’ll keep trying to find your choir appearances.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I'm in the one that sings Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way. I have green hair and a coral shirt on. LOL NOT the one with the green Shrek hat on...but near that person LOL Pub Choir are in person, hundreds or thousands of folks doing that in person one night at a venue! Because covid made it so they could not do that, she came up with Couch Choir during covid lockdowns...thus allowing folks from all countried participate, since they can make their recordings at home and upload it to them. Once they lifted, they started in person again, but then started touring to UK and USA for one night sings in different places. This is their second touring! It started as the idea of folks in pubs eventually singing together and having fun spur of the moment. Astrid is amazing. Her ear is fantastic and her voice is wonderful. I get out to get my things done...but I live in garden apartments and I have a balcony and small area I plant in. I feed the birds and squirrels as you've seen on my videos, and the quiet is okay with me. I need peace, color, nature, my kitties, to be happy.
Ok I will go look for that song in a bit and let you know if I find it. Covid was awful, I really got stressed with all of it. Hated the way it just made us like prisoners, so glad its better now. Glad you've got everything you need to be happy!
You always do a nice job of mixing club and town. Wrexham & Wales look like a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks a lot.
Always great when you highlight the town and the nearby country side of Wales in your videos. Reynolds and McElhenney showed a lot of good taste when they decided on Wrexham FC.
Thanks, it could easily have been another club though. I believe we were just one of many.
Thanks guys. I love Wrexham.
Nice to hear that, and thanks for your ongoing support, Frans.
I’d heard AO was off to Ligue 1. When I saw him at the Crewe game his body language, not looking at the fans, head down looking at the floor when we were all singing “Sign the contract”, even his team mates singing, that was the clincher he was going. If he holds out till last minute and Wrexham is his best option and then signs, I’d feel we are a consolation and it wouldn’t sit well with the fans.
Where you in the crowd at Shrewsbury when his dad was watching? He was telling everyone that would listen that Arthur was on £17,000 a week! I am assuming that Arsenal were paying greatest share of that if true. It might make sense him going to France as he's in the south of france at the moment in a top hotel. I saw some twitter/X posts about it.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I wasn’t at the Shrewsbury game, I’d seen Wrexham were paying Arthur £2500 a week, so the rest must of been subsidised by Arsenal. George Evans is still the top earner at £7200. Wow.
Wowzers!!!! That is one heck of wage! I honestly thought Paul Mullin was our most well paid player or someone like James McClean!
Everyone hates the local council. They closed down Clarkson’s restaurant 😂😂😂
well if we did not extend his contract means he will be a free agent? if he is a free agent than yes we should be racing for his signature. otherwise the transfer fee will have to be taken into consideration
Yeah, Arthur is a free agent right now so its all about the wage and whether he wants to stay or not.
The higher you go the more money you need to spend on talent. He is not going to be cheap but I think he is a key piece they need to get promoted again. He's a championship-level goalie in my opinion. So having that in League 1 is a huge advantage.
Yeah, we need to keep that in mind. This is an investment in our future seasons and especially if we do manage another promotion.
I would think they need 5 soild players to come in .... Maybe they are waiting on the new ceo... Or find out what money they are working with....
Parky always leaves things late, much to the frustration of some fans LOL
This is all part of getting promoted; we all know it will take money for players and infrastructure to get to the next promotion and become competitive and stable, not that the club isn't stable now. He's young and had a great season, even with an injury. I like Luke McNicholas and Liam Hall, as we know they have a lot of potential. What can you say about Mark that hasn't already been said? He is a Stallworth, and I think at this stage of his career, he is a coach on the pitch to help these players get better. Could the club do a loan out for 1 or both to a lower club to get them playing time? My only concern is overspending and then having to overspend again for other transfers. I might have missed it, but I have yet to hear of any replacements for those for whom they let the contracts expire. So, does the club take a shot of not signing Arthur and running the course until the next transfer window with Luke or Liam, or going to the bank to keep Arthur and spend on other players, too? At the very least, it would make League One a very competitive season, but I agree he is a heck of a talent to miss out on. I suppose if I was doing it, I would do it; we know the end goal of the club is to be at the top of the League.
At some point we are going to have to give Luke McNicholas a chance in the first team, otherwise what is the point in keeping him? Overspending is a huge concern but over spending now could mean less spending if we do go up. Arthur could be the difference, more clean sheets, more points.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I guess it's a good and bad problem to have when you have enough talent depth, but it makes it difficult to get people time on the pitch. I do agree, I think signing Arthur would be the right move if the promotion is ongoing.
If we can not only sign him, but tie him down for a long contract like 3 years or 5, that would be the best thing for Wrexham, cause he's only going to get better, and we would be able to resale him later on. but I still have my doubts if we can even get him to stay if the rumers about his suiters are correct.
I have an idea he would probably like a return to London but who knows?
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I don't think he's going to stay in the area, I think he's going to end up in a top club in Europe somewhere. That way he can have big money and a chance to play in champions or Europe league.
He could do that with a premier league club here but to do that would have to be first team goal keeper. I honestly do think that Wrexham is his best option, at least for a couple of years. He gets to be number 1 goalkeeper, has worldwide exposure on the documentary and it is not impossible that Wrexham gain another promotion either this season or next.
I hope he does return he's been outstanding
Same feeling here, I really hope he does too. At least he would be guaranteed games here, if he went to a higher league club he'd get more money but would potentially be sat on the bench all season.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone ya I think if you look at playing time and sense of community you want to be at Wrexham
Yeah, as a player you do need to play.
Hang on to him if it is possible, but not at some outrageous price tag.
I don't mind us paying a lot for him but not at the point where I feel we've paid way over the odds either. Its a tricky one really because we do need him but can we get someone as good for less?
The Club will receive £1M+ from promotion to League 1 some of which will be used to strengthen the team and personally they should use whatever it takes to secure Arthur. At this time the club/team need stability at the back. Not only has Arthur developed further under Wrexham's excellent goalkeeping coaches as well as Mark Howard's adaption/involvement and changed role but also the team in general are used to his style of play which has been honed to their advantage too. Let's hope the strong bond that developed last season continues.
We definitely need a goal keeper although what about Luke McNicolas and Liam Hall? Everyone seems to discount them. I think you are right though, we do need to use some of our solidarity payment to fund this. I really hope Ryan and Rob are on the phone to him using a massive charm offensive!
Arthur is an asset. I hope they keep him
Same here, Kenneth. Lets hope no greed gets in the way of a mutually good deal for both parties.
He’s known for weeks that he was not being retained so not sure why it needs to take much longer for him to decide if he’s staying. Surely he knows if he wants to stay or not. The longer it goes, the more I think Arthur could be using Wrexham as leverage which is why if I’m Parky, I’d give him a deadline. And I’d make it soon so we can do what needs to be done for the best interests of the team.
I suppose he had to wait until his leaving Arsenal was official. He could well be using us for leverage I suppose sad to say but that would be good business sense for him and his agent. I am going to be interested in seeing which other clubs express and interest in him.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I get it, I do, but not a fan of the games the athletes play. I’d say a vast majority of them, at least over here, know where they want play and know where they don’t want to even more so. I have a feeling Arthur knows what he wants to do but I hope I’m wrong. If I’m Parky, I’d force his hand and say hey, I’m going to sign someone else if you don’t want to stay with us.
That's the game athletes play when their contracts are up. It would be unwise to take the first offer given. It's best to see what other offers are on the board. Who knows, maybe Wrexham has the best offer. But if another club has them beat then he can give Wrexham the chance to match it or do better.
It might come down to location of the club too. He is a London boy who might want to return to that area to play.
I think we will know more when we have an idea of who the other clubs are that are interested in him. The last thing we want is to get involved in a bidding war!
Lets keep him at all costs. Thank you.
With you 100%, Frans!
It’s going to be at least £20k a week
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he asked for that to be honest with you.
Wxm will not overpay
You don't think so? I am hoping they do because no offence to Howard I'd rather see Arthur in goal.
They'll be able to sign Arthur on a free transfer if he'll be out of contract so it's just his wages to agree
Yeah. His wages are going to be a huge investment for the owners , also a big gamble potentially! He is going to command the way of at least 2 players and its whether we are willing to go big and do it.
Arsenal already released Arthur and 18 other players a day or two ago. At this point it's up to Arthur to decide where he wants to go.
He is waiting to see how much is the offer from other clubs which is smart. Those two clubs are in Championship, although I believe he would be a bench warmer there. Personally, I hope he moves permanently to Wrexam as he is a lot better than the other goalkeeper.
The last thing Okwonko wants surely is to be another Calvin Phillips just sitting on the bench. I am not sure any other bigger club would have him as their number 1
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Well said.
Im from the U.S. Washington, D.C. to be exact. I’ve been looking for a team in Europe to cheer for, for years but no club resonated with me like Wrexham. Great to hear you chose our club, Antoine. Welcome to the channel too, if you ever want to know anything about Wrexham just ask.
Williamson has Eliot Lee beard style so he will fit in perfectly! ;)
Wait what ? An American in charge of the club?
Ryan Reynolds Canadian, Rob McElhenney American who are both Co-Owners then Michael Williamson CEO who is American.
Please don't sign Kayden Jackson. He aint good enough.
He's just one of the names cropping up. Each transfer window we have a load of names and Park signs someone completely different!
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I know, still worried he would sign someone as useless as him, like he did with Waters.
The weirdest signing ever! They signed Waters then hardly played him but when they did he was just dreadful! Seemed a really nice person though, just didn't gel at Wrexham.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Unfortunately being a nice lad doesn't cut it. You gotta be brutally honest in this sport.
Agree! I personally would have kept Ben Tozer but its down to the manager and he has to be brutal like you said. I think Ben just had an off season after what happened to his Dad, he would have been a great backup for us in league one.
Wonder if some of the potential new players for Wrexham are being delayed or kept quiet until Williamson is in place at the club to sign off on them? Between the postponement in construction, and replacing released players. This transition from Robinson to Williamson is feeling a lot like the change of leadership at DC Cinematic when Gunn was given the job. Lets hope Mr. Williamson has more success running Wrexham FC then Gunn has had at his job. 😂
Lets hope he is nicer with the staff too! Heard some awful stories about how some staff were treated by Fleur. I know some catering staff walked out and never went back!
