Writer's ASMR features close-up video and audio of my morning journal routine. Immediately after journaling, I open my work in progress (#wip ) and write about 1500 words in longhand before wrapping up. Videos feature Jin Hao, Pilot, Hon Dian, Visconti, and FPR fountain pens, high quality pencils from Mitsubishi and Blackwing, and Moleskine notebooks. This project started as a morning exercise to learn how to edit video. However, I've been so surprised by how many people find these videos soothing, motivating, and inspiring. Many of you are looking for quiet ambience. Some of you are stationery aficionados (my people). Some of you are experiencing the frenetic squirrel energy of ADHD and need a very, very low stakes attention anchor (I do too. I play Country Living VLOG when I'm doing visual work). However, many of you are aspiring writers and journalers and to you I make a distinct promise: I will always be here to support you any way I can. I know what it's like. Please enjoy.

@@user-kk3dp2nh5s thank you!
I love your videos, keep going
Well I love your comments, so keep commenting!
I only saw after I read the coments that you have just a few views and subscribers, I really thought you were a big youtuber at first cause of how good the qualitie of your videos are, congratulations for your good work 💗👏
Angelica, what a lovely thing to say. I started this channel only to train myself in the process of making, editing, and posting videos. I figured I'd just tape myself working since that's what I do every day. I shoot images from my home office and sometimes my back yard. I don't know anything about camera work or cinema so I just make every shot very, very simple. However, I was slightly surprised to see a story emerge. There's a cat, there's a duck, there's a bust of Vincent Price...who knows where this will go.
May I ask what do you usually write?
In these videos I'm writing in my journal and my WIP. But you can see more at bullgarlington.com
@@ChristopherGarlington thank you for your answer ♥️
It's really interesting that for a while I wanted to write something, but I never started, watching your videos gave me the confidence that I can write myself.
I love that so much. SO MUCH! Write! Write more! Show me what you lay down.
I absolutely adore your handwriting 😊 please keep making this wonderful videos ❤❤❤
Thanks
لقد اعجبني المقطع بشده وشعرت بالرغبة بالكتابه شكرا على مجهودك وتصويرك ❤❤❤
Thank you.
Underated well done keep it up👍
That's very nice of you to say. Thank you!
this is so tingly thank you for some unique asmr
Thank you, I'm so happy to hear that.
Which font
Wilbur, this is all written and lettered by hand. Most of it is cursive, which is probably Spencarian cursive, and some of it is just plain old lettering, which I don't have any information on.
hellooo, please keep going with the videos, they are amazinggg, and your handwriting is gorgeous ✨✨✨
Thank you so much. I promise I will.
I love your videos
Man, this really means a lot to me. I really appreciate that.
Is that a Namiki vanishing point fountain pen? I own several but have not seen one in black.
John, Is Namiki and Pilot the same? I know it as a Pilot Vanishing Point in Matte Black. It's been my EDC since 2017.
@@ChristopherGarlington Yep, same pen. I think Pilot owns Namiki now. Great pens.
Haha I love you ❤️
Thank you.
Hello, sir! What is what you write in your journal? Salute from far away 👋
Personal stuff. Fiction.
Should’ve had more recognition
Who?
I love this channel, simple and cozy.
That pretty much describes me as a person...
@@ChristopherGarlington ❣️
My country doesn't get thunder storms which kinda sucks because they're so comforting to listen to, that thunder in the beginning was crazy
What country is that? Yeah, that thunder was way louder in person than it sounds in the video.
Hi. When do you use pencil on your notes and pen?
Hey, Adrian. I use pens in my journal and pencil in my fiction. The pens are usually a Jin Hao 450 filled with Diamine Oxblood, and a Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black filled with Namiki Blue-Black. The pencil, lately, is a Mitsubishi Uni 3B. I was using Blackwings but the point wouldn't stick and the Mitsubishi is just luxurious.
Cool
👍
Who is Will Sr?
Super relaxing thank youuu
The organization of the books with the ruler is so understandable (and satisfying!)~ as a teen, thank you for your content; I watch it while I write my own works <3
Right? I couldn't take it another second. I would love to read your work. I would be overjoyed if anything I do encourages a fellow writer. Keep going!
Also, this is me: bullgarlington.com
It seems my original replies haven’t been posted, so I’ll try once again! Thank you for your kind words! I would love to check your work out! I run a personal blog that I’ve been catching up on after a rigorous academic year… I’m glad to hear your encouragement; it definitely is nice to hear before I officially “launch” my work into the world! Good luck! <3
❤ Love it
Me too.
i love the rubber ducky and the name of the ink is so dramatic. it sounds like something that would used by a detective in a film noir.
Thank you, @tulsakanette. I haven't named the duck yet. I've had him for years. I probably ought to give him a name. Are you talking about the Oxblood?
@@ChristopherGarlington i am fascinated about how things like fountain pens work i added a couple of your books to my wish list on Amazon. i listen to writing asmr videos while i am g doing y morning routine. i was listening to typing videos but the ad breaks happened ever 3-5 minutes in typing videos.
💕
Thank you.
Played this in the background while I do my reading and studies have helped perfectly set the ambience for a focused environment. Thank you!
Wow! That is so cool! I can’t believe people are doing this. What are you studying?
How awesome that I can watch you ✍️ yay! I feel close to you.
Oh my god, it's my mom! Yeah, that's actually me actually working.
On my phone the sounds of pen, scribbling on paper, the hand that rubs the paper etc? Just not discernable enough! Such a pity. Because ONLY listening to this, eyes closed, snug on my pillow? I drift off in no time! So sad. (Only WATCHING this? Not relaxing. Not asmr).
In my defense, I still don't know what I'm doing. However, I really do appreciate your observation. Stay tuned. I'm trying to learn how to record better close-up sound. And pleasant dreams.
I listen to your Asmr videos while making poems 😅 ty!
SEND ME THOSE POEMS!
Also, wow. I will think about you writing poetry tomorrow when I'm writing in my journal.
@@ChristopherGarlington, it’s wasn’t noteworthy explaining the behavior of leveling up in front of someone, I do thank the fantasy books I read and fall out for being an inspiration too. Ty! It is an honour. 👍
Love how the red ink looks!
Right? Diamine Oxblood. It's just gorgeous.
Great video! Thank you for telling us what your gear is! 😊
My pleasure.
Is it possible to ask what fountain pen brand you are using? Thank you
First one you use.
Apologies it seems you 3rote the brand on index card.😅
I'm still gonna tell you because I love it so much. It's a Pilot Vanishing Point in Matte Black filled with Namiki Blue Black ink. I've been carrying that pen every day since 2017. I love that pen. It is perfect. It goes with me everywhere. always in my pocket!
Are you writing another book?!
The journal labeled "M" is my current work in progress, which will clock in at around 34,000--40,000 words, so it's more like a very long novella or a very short novel. Like Graham Greene short. Like Edgar Rice Burroughs short. And it's a genre piece with the potential for a nice series.
I love how calming these videos are! Thanks for uploading! Can you do a video maybe explaining about what you write and how you get inspired? Or maybe about your favorite tools to write? Just suggesting :)
@Murasakiii thank you for the compliment! I will eventually do a video or two about pens and paper and what I'm writing. For now, if I'm writing in pencil, that's my WIP, a novella that starts a series.
Also, here's what I use: notebooks: Moleskin cahier executive size Pens: Jin Hao 450 filled with Diamine Oxblood ink Pilot Vanishing Point in Matte Black running Namiki blue black ink A Hong Dian Forest Series running Diamine Sepia A flex pen using Waterman blue which bleeds like crazy Pencils: Blackwing 602s but look for my new Mitsubishis coming up
@@ChristopherGarlington Thank you for telling me!
Hey @murasakiii, check out my GEAR video.
your handwriting is so beautiful..., what's up with the blood at 2:28 btw?
@sullengirl777 thank you! That's ink! It's Diamine Sepia and Oxblood and it spilled while I was messing around filling a pen.
Just curious, but what do you tend to write about in your journals?
@gidora2687 The green journal in which I'm using pens is my personal journal just about my day and my spheres of identity (writer, student, father, husband, friend, mason). The black one filled by pencil is my WIP and is gloriously deranged fiction.
What pen/pen nib do you use? Great video!
The big fat one is a cheap Jin Hao 450 (I think) with an M nib. The retractable one is a Pilot Vanishing Point with their signature black nib. The black one is a Hong Dian Forest Series and I don't know the nib. The red one is a flex pen I can't remember the brand using a flex nib that is disappointingly inflexible.
Hi there, nice writing by the way, I'm writing too not to mk a journal more like a to improve my handwriting ñ, you know in the era of technology is a quite difficult. I encourage everyone to take a minute a day to write anything... cheers and a new subcriber from Argentina... 🙂
I agree!
Relaxing burp @47:59 ahaha
Oh my god. I'm so embarrassed. I forget that I'm videoing.
Which graphic novel was that at the beginning of the video?
Berserk. Volume 1 of the bound collection.
I always feel so anxious not filling an entire page/card. This video has made me want to get over that.
I think a lot of people do. I believe part of that anxiety may be a combination of the urge to write while not yet being ready. There are any number of reasons you may not be ready to put down a ton of writing but I like to think it’s because whatever you’re going to say is still in your mind getting the finishing touches. However, you have all this beautiful paper, right? Nice journals…it’s a shame to leave them blank. I always suggest a common day book. It’s an old practice of jotting down passages and quotes you discover through reading or however you come across them. It’s writing and it’s enjoyable but you aren’t pressured to create. The cool thing is, this practice may just get your writing chassis greased up and you’ll find it leads to fluent journaling.
Something calming about watching a person write.
Nice videos, encourages me to write! 🎉
Please share your writing!
Do it!
@@ChristopherGarlington I would love to if I were a professional writer :) I only keep a personal journal. I really enjoy using fountain pen and pencil while writing. I'm studying Computer Education/Teaching but am not very successful so far. I've currently been thinking of changing my major to English. However, the idea of creative writing seems horrific for me because I only recently started reading books and writing. Sorry for unnecessary information overload ^^.
@@matthewgalecki No need! it's wonderful.
Getting these videos recommended to me a week or so ago and watching them is what got me back into (physically) writing again myself. Playing them in the background as I sit down creates the right atmosphere in my hectic life. A whole hour is a treat. Many thanks from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Wow. Holy shit. Thanks. I'm the same way about these kinds of videos. I started making them to learn how to use Premiere Pro for an upcoming project. But I took my inspiration straight from the Country Living Vlog. The way their videos are just calm and just there. It's really gratifying to hear you say the same thing about these. And please, talk about your writing.
@@ChristopherGarlington I'm just starting to get back into it, rediscovered after having abandoned it when I was (even) younger and forgot about that part of me. I write to get things out of my head, to express and to find some clarity. Right now it's some (mostly Dutch, sometimes English) poetry and other ramblings, nothing particularly substantial or with a certain goal in mind. Whatever is on my mind or sounds interesting. Just the act alone of sitting down and putting pen to paper feels good, and like a much needed respite from the digital chaos (ironically). Though I aspire to grow further. I mainly like writing things that should eventually be spoken. Even tried my hand at stand-up too, though that's a whole different beast.
@@Armando_DA fantastic. If you ever wish to share, I would be honored.
💝Too good
Thank you!
❤️LOVED IT❤️
Wow. Thanks a lot!

I do too! My favorite one is still that cheap Jin Hao. But I'll be using others.
A relaxing video🤌🏼
Thank you.

I will. I'm having a lovely time.
Very nice lots of love from India 🇮🇳

Thanks! I do too.
Refreshing to see the good old pencil asmr in the midst of ipad asmr's craziness around the internet.
Well, be warned, you may see some Remarkable 2 segments coming up. But 99 percent of these will be pens and pencils. Those Blackwings sing across the page, man. You got to love them.
