    If somebody sends me a file on share point how do I know where it is in teams?

  • @SharePointIn60Seconds
    @SharePointIn60Seconds25 күн бұрын

    @jimmykahn5431 IF it is on teams. Not all sharepoint sites are connected to a MS Team. If the file opens on Office Online, you can follow the path by looking at the drop down near the file name. It will give you the folder name and the library name. If you click on the library name and end up inside a folder on the default "Documents" library, then your file could possibly be seen in Teams within a channel by the same name. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Why doesn't the Group Calendar show up as an Event List in Site Contents? :-(

  • @SharePointIn60Seconds
    @SharePointIn60SecondsАй бұрын

    It's my understanding that a group calendar belongs to a M365 group and M365 email is homed in exchange. You may pull in a group calendar as web part on a page...however it should not appear as an event list in SharePoint. Only calendars created and homed in SharePoint will appear as events lists in SharePoint. I hope this answers your questions...and I know the community will promptly step in if any of the above needs correcting! Good luck and thanks so much for watching!!!

    Did not work on our side. When we give righs like this the file is not accessible at all... Because you have to "open" a file to read it.... If you uncheck that box, the users can do nothing with te file. Not read it anyway.

  • @SharePointIn60Seconds
    @SharePointIn60SecondsАй бұрын

    No, you actually do not have to "open" the file to view it per se. You will need to go to the library, visit library settings, visit advanced settings, and make sure that you do NOT have "open in client app" selected. That's if you want to allow folks to view the file without downloading. This will ensure the file launches in the browser vs the app. When it's launched in the browser with the permission described in this video, the end user can see the contents but cannot edit, cannot download, and cannot open it in the word app. I suspect the reason it isn't working is because the advanced settings is forcing the files to open in Word. Good luck! Keep us posted!!!

We thought at first it was the release preferences, but I added myself and nothing. Also 1/2 the team doesn't see the changes - are on this list and have been for a very long time. Is there something that can be done to enable this experience?

    Is there a way to hide the Site Contents folder and other 'system' folders, without taking away access to the pages themselves?

  • @SharePointIn60Seconds
    @SharePointIn60Seconds4 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching!!! Short answer: No. However, your question brings up a lot of questions. Like....are folks actually asking for this to happen? If so, Why? Why would you want a person to have access to it if you don't want them to know it exists outside the confines of the default views etc.? I venture to say that plenty users will never even click on the gear (settings) icon to open up site contents. Also, you can remove "Pages" and "Site Contents" from the nav. However, you can't remove them from the gear icon. Lastly, if you have enough money and coding skills...I'm sure there are some things that can be done. I'll leave the rest up to the community! What say you????
