Even all these years later I'm still mystified by this trick. I've read through a lot of the comments and seen a lot of online discussions, and it still blows my mind every time I watch it. Also, the joke about your wife changing her mind even after you've both agreed and are happy with a decision is so relatable. Lol!

Amazing clip! Sometimes the unseen is the most obvious. And sometimes something that isn't there was there before. I'm pretty confident that the whole trick heavily depends on the "blank" book which in my opinion is a lot of things, but definitely not without information. Truly great magic, just because I love a good riddle.

My guess is you did a glasses switch, and the glasses you were using for the drink could see invisible ink on the pages of the book.

Was the deck switch at the part where the camera cuts away and the deck goes from your right to your left hand? Also were the 8 and 5 cards forced?

I don’t think the book was blank. Interleaved between each page was a blank page. The blank pages suck out just a little bit more than the printed pages, so when he thumbed through the pages, it skipped the printed pages so only the blank pages appeared.

It's the glasses. That's how I would do it. With the glasses on the ink in the book would be visible, like for instance ink visible with ultraviolet light. He doesn't need to have the whole page printed, but large keywords from the relevant page. In fact at 3:19 you can see there are lenses in the glasses. And later when you look over his shoulder there is clearly a reflection in the glasses, and the reflection is purplish. Edit to add, the actual trick is the switch of the glasses (or popping the lenses out) before turning to Alison.

Ok, here's what I'm thinking: The left hand holding the head is miss direction. Notice that the cork stands up when the cup handle is to the right and stays down with it is to the left. I'm thinking there is a magnet in the top of the cork. Also notice that the cork stands up, it moved towards the handle (twice). So here's my hypothesis: There is a permenant magnet in the handle and a permenant magnet on the side that we cannot see (probably to the right of Shawn). Has he turns the cup, he is turning one of the magnet and depending on what side the handle is on, the 2 magnet neutralize themselves.
