  That "school of herring" looked a lot like frozen pilchards. I think the subtitles are embellishing the reality. Nice video of amazing fish none the less.

  No pilchards and only herrings++ of a seasonal school migration: debris or dead herrings taken around the trawlwer nets and alive herrings sometimmes stunned by the tuna at the time they do breaching the sea surface..

  Thank's! I would like to share that hunting sailfish is more dangerous thant a marlin: a speared marlin takes off while swimming first straight ahead under the surface but the sailfish may first swim fast in all directions and sometimes the bill close to you!

  Picasso affectionnait la pêche au lamparo, il en a d'ailleurs fait un magnifique tableau: "La pêche de nuit à Antibes" (1939). Bien qu'il semblerait qu'aucun texte legislatif n'est été retrouvé sur le sujet, la pêche de nuit serait desormais interdite en France, notamment du fait de nombreuses noyades. Pour en revenir aux serioles, la dernière pêche exceptionnelle aurait eu lieu il y a 2 mois, en septembre 2023, dans le Var, au large de la presqu'ile de Saint-Mandrier. Il s'agit d'un specimen de 30kg, capture par un père et son fils.

  Le thon préparé à la japonaise est particulièrement sapide, par contre depuis le 24 août 2023, s'il vient du Japon, on pourra se poser la question de la sécurité alimentaire, et préférer une autre provenance comme celle du Canada !
