    Sorry for the very late reply. I missed looking at the comments section. The basic answer to your question. I wouldn't try. It can be shallow at times which would mean walking against the current.

    Do you know if it is possible to paddle the entire creek, Chalfont to Delaware River?

  • @singleedge1
    @singleedge13 жыл бұрын

    Hi Anna, I have never paddled the entire route from Chalfont to the Delaware, but it is possible. Keystone Canoeing by Edward Gertler is an excellent source for paddling in Pennsylvania. REI is probably the best source, but amazon also carries. He states the section below route 213 isn't popular with paddlers because of development.

    Start at the park by the shut-down bridge on Old York/Valley Road in Jamison. Google Map search for Big Brothers Big Sisters Jamison for the road. There is parking right at the river. Finish at Tyler State Park. Google Map search Tyler State Boathouse Parking lot. Local recommendation that you check the NOAA river height predictions and run this section at least 5.5 feet. It gets shallow otherwise. Funny that I live on the Neshaminy and drive to South Jersey for the Batsto while you drive up to Newtown from South Jersey. Cheers!

    Been a member of south jersey outdoor club since 1995 ? Best thing going in South Jersey. Not as active as I once was - gasoline as more than DOUBLED ! since I joined. No longer do the longer hikes, but I am fine with 5 miles are so. Interests change - disc golf, road and adventure bicycling, and travel. But I still am active with Ocean City hikes that are closer to Cape May, and I still participate in New Hampshire ski trips. Truth is, I'll always be a member. No club offers as much activities with a nicer group of people.

    Hi Tom, I don't know your skill level , but I don't see a problem using a fishing yak. People in the past have used everything from an inflatable kayak to whitewater kayak. @@tshafa9468 when the water is low like it has been, it's dangerous and is pretty tough. There is a couple rapids and falls that I'd advise portaging if it's low or you don't feel daredevilish. I went in August and lost a couple rods that I didn't have tied down. It is tough and be cautious, as I'd compare it being similar more to a small WV river than a Maryland creek. The fishing is pretty good though, and there's walleyes mixed in the bag too. There's supposedly some trout too. It's definitely worth it, wading or kayaking regardless

    The Bucks County Commissioners dedicated Dark Hollow Park in 1989 when they cancelled the Dark Hollow Dam proposal. The 610 acre maximum flood pool of the dam project includes acreage or floodeasements that were bought by the County over two decades. Some of these parcels were sold after 1989, but the bulk of the land was put under the Bucks County Parks Department.
