    I think crab pots deserve a buff, like they always catch a fish with bait and only trash without, one level 10 profession is mariner and luremaster combined (you don't need bait to catch fish), and the other is chance to catch treasure maybe, or make your fish iridium quality.

  • @Kitadollx
    @Kitadollx2 күн бұрын

    I'm with you, there. I really wanted mariner or luremaster to be worth it, but they are so disappointing compared to most other professions, it's hard to justify going that route, even just for variety on different playthroughs.

    I think you're on to something. If CDs and glasses didn't eat the bait, then you should be able to catch them without baiting the crab pots at all. Proof of sentient trash in Stardew?

    On my first 1.6 playthrough I spent nearly two ingame months with half a dozen crab pots failing to get the mussel I needed to complete my fishing collection and it NEVER occurred to me that I could have made bait from the foraged ones to help out 😭

    The mod "automate" can help with that with this mod if the pots are adjacent to a chest anything caught buy the pots is automatically transferred to the chest and any bait in the chest transfers to the empty pots. Next add a wormbin next to the chest. The bait produced by the bin automatically transfers to the chest

    I started a game with a bunch of mods, one of them being automation. I set up several traps in the lake, with a chest to store what they catch, a deluxe worm bin to supply the traps daily, a trash recycler to convert all the junk they gather, and a smoker to boost the value of the fish caught. With this setup, checking it once or twice a year can net a pretty significant profit considering the minimal effort and materials needed. Great video btw!

  • @jessicacolegrove4152
    @jessicacolegrove41524 күн бұрын

    I do much the same 5 pots to 1 wormbin with a recycler, A kiln to convert any wood from the recycled trash to coal and a smoker. This can scale up by adding pots and wormbins. I generally just pull all the fish smoked or not on the 28th to give me a boost to cash for the next seasons crops. This also works well with the mod "fishnets" this introduces fishnets (duh) that work the same as the pots except that they catch regular fish

    Is there any way to increase the chances of bigger crabpot fish? Like luck or fishing level? (I only need a 5 in. shrimp to have max size for all fish except legendary, and it's not giving me one :(

    I set up 3 crab pots and one deluxe bait ratio. This does two things. One obviously you'll always have enough bait for the pots, two any leftover bait is sent to my fishing rod. I don't fish daily but usually pass by some crab pot stations. This lets me slowly build up my bait count in the fishing rod for when I do want to go fishing for a specific reason. Granted it's not a huge amount of exp, but it's more than enough for me to make fertilizer.

    i'm currently doing my first proper playthough (just hit ginger island) and was using 12 crap pots the whole game. i put them in the small pond on the farm and have 4 deluxe bait maker to feed them + extra for fishing myself. I was using all the cashed fish for creating quality fertilizer but stopped in year 2 for deluxe speed-gro. i'm currently using it to make sashimi and thats my goto food for any situation + i just gift it when ever i see a villiger. it's like by most villigers and loved my sebastion. just don't give it to emily, kent or Evelyn.

    My wife and I are doing a recycling focused co-op run. We did the math for 1000 pots with angler and lure master, and, using all the coal from trash to smoke lobsters, crabs, and as many crayfish as you can, you’d make roughly the same money from freshwater pots as ocean ones. It was an interesting find.

    One of my favorite things since 1.6 is getting the Extended Family quest and spending one or several days catching up Legend 2’s with a quality bobber. When smoked with all professions, those go for, I believe, 42,000g apiece

  • @rneumann7229

    My favourite late game money making method is to go to the Pirate Cove on Ginger Island and fish with a Quality + Cork Bobber and Challenger baits. The fish there are easy enough to score perfect catches and get a 3-in-1, but the Quality Bobber is a fail-safe when you go down to 2 or even 1 fish. Smoking iridium Stingray, both Cucumber, and other assortment of fish is really profitable. I will also fish for the Lava Eel on the Volcano Forge (you have a better catch rate there) with the same setup whenever I get an "easy 3 catches" buff from the Statue's Blessing. In Winter, I will also fish in the submarine to change things up, and there is always a chance to fish up Pearls. Deep cavern diving and fishing is my most favourite activities because I'm a sweaty gamer. But I have exhausted my fancy for mining before the 1.6 update. Now I just smoke fish and dehydrate mushroom for leisure, really refreshing. To maintain a steady supply of coal, you can try clearing the Quarry, the Volcano Dungeon for coal nodes, processing trash, and panning with a Generous Iridium Pan. Farming Dust Sprites with a Burglar's Ring and the Monster Compendium book is also very viable, but absolutely MIND NUMBING.

    I love fishing and fish smokers. It's so nice to have fishing scale profitably as the game goes on, especially with the other new fishing equipment, like the Mastery rod and targeted bait. And honestly I do find the fish smokers kinda soothing to watch. They look so cozy and warm. Thanks for the fun new video! I am always happy to see a new one from you.

    I still wish they updated hoppers to allow the transfer of a completed product to another machine or create a new machine called a dropper to add finished product to a chest. The best late game use for the smoker you didn't mention was using it on the Legend 2 from the Extended Family Qi Quest which you can catch multiples. Great video as always.

  • @Kitadollx
    @Kitadollx9 күн бұрын

    I'm totally with you on the hoppers. I think there are a few really fast processing items that might be game changing if you didn't have to be around to collect them. Coffee comes to mind, but I'm sure there are others. Good call on the Legend 2 and thanks for watching!

    I was most concerned with profitability versus effort or time taken. I would have liked to see a chart at the end so I could understand the direct comparisons better. I left with the takeaway that tapped mystic trees and mushroom logs were the most profitable, but not the overall understanding I wanted. I started my last farm with the idea that I'd make a huge mushroom log farm at the train station, and even with this being my goal from the beginning, I found I hit some roadblocks. I got around 300 moss on the green rain day, and that quickly gets used up when making mushroom logs. I run out of mahogany seeds quickly when making mystic trees and they can take a long time to grow. Mystic trees are also so late game that my ancient fruit wine business makes it feel irrelevant.

    @@-ElMaistro67891 Ya I kinda found that out already. I dunno if the space on Ginger island is worth wasting on bee hives though, I've started growing uh rare(?) fruits, those orange-ish elongated ones that are only sold from the gypsy cart. Those sell for a pretty penny with fertilizers, but they do take like a season to grow.

  • @Kitadollx

    Yeah. I usually stick to dehydrators, just because the volume of mushrooms gets so high, especially if you expand beyond a 5x5 area. You're absolutely right though. Preserves jars will widen the mushroom log lead by a bit more if you have the jars to support it.
