Polar Focus, Inc

Polar Focus, Inc

Polar Focus products are designed to allow for the focus of a loudspeaker or cluster in a polar coordinate frame. Polar coordinate frames have parameters of pan and tilt in typical loudspeaker terminology.

Prior to the development of the Polar Focus product line, common loudspeaker rigging and equipment resulted in very poor ability to aim speakers. Aiming control frequently resulted in undesirable interactions between the pan and tilt angles of different speakers within a speaker cluster. Most Polar Focus products separate pan and tilt control to allow ease of aiming while under load, with no undesirable mechanical interactions. Modern loudspeakers and line arrays have precision dispersion pattern control that requires this fast and accurate aiming.

    Don’t see a safety cable. Are there access points for safety cables?

  • @Polarfocus
    @Polarfocus5 жыл бұрын

    You could add a safety cable between the terminated lower end of one of the suspension cables and the loudspeaker if there was a jurisdictional authority who directed it to be done. However, our 10:1 design factor and high quality materials means that none are needed. Decades ago it was common to use unsafe cast iron clamps or brass dog leash clips as redundant layers of alleged 'safety'. We use the correct materials with a high design factor to eliminate the need for safety cables. Please note that the type and method of most safety cable usage would result in the cable or eyebolt failing in a drop test.

    Polar Focus, Inc, I agree 100%, but the powers that be feel safer with a secondary safety device wether it works or not. A lot of added expense just to feel better. Ha!

    very great, I 've a RCF HDL20A and flybar HDL 20.18 and a a big problem to hang the flybar at the fork of the elevator VMB TL 054. Many technicians erectors put straps but me it scares me this kind of snagging.

    There are a lot of reasons why you might fly the subs instead of ground stacking. Maybe the room the PA is in is not conducive to ground stacked subs, maybe they need them flown for some reason, maybe they have a bunch ground stacked all ready. Could be a lot of reasons.

    ***** The turnbuckle has approx 600 lbs of load on it. It's rated at 2200lbs at a 5:1 from it's manufacturer. We work to 10:1, so in our case 1100lbs. It's plenty safe and includes a small amount of angular adjustment to the cluster.

    Why in the world would you want to hide those beautiful subwoofers? Wouldn't you want all of the sound elements pointing as direct to the audience as you can? I mean I get it makes sense from a rigging stand point but WHY hide all that BEAUTIFUL BASS???

    Philly McVea if you put the bass in front of the shorter mid and high frequencies it will drown the out.

    The bass has more than enough power to travel around the other speakers. And they usually put some on the ground also :)

    It’s because the subs couple with the low drivers in the array speakers. so the subs are flown behind, and time aligned to the front speakers and it causes summation and together they throw the sound much further. Vic Wagner talks about this in the Linkin Park event elevator video he did about a JBL system.
