1:08 30Hz high pass is just waaaaaay too low. Pretty much wasting 2/3's of the subwoofers potential. Try set it to 80Hz

For well over a decade, I have been on a seemingly endless search for a Home Theater AVR receiver that would rock my (ears) world. So after trying/buying Onkyo, (older) Pioneer, Denon, Sony, and Yamaha I had concluded that I was looking for something that was beyond the reaches of my budget. Well, the good news that ended yesterday when this receiver arrived, I hooked it up to my (mostly) Klipsch (Atmos) tower speakers and center channel, and calibrated it with "Dirac Live." I could not believe my ears. My goodness, I finally found it! Andrew Robinson stated "Pioneer is back" with his review of the VSV-305. The sound stage this receiver produces is stunning. If you buy it, get yourself a decent Dolby 5.1 (and more) encoded show or movie and get ready for some serious audio nirvana. Last night I tried House of The Dragon, Dune 2, and even Ultraman Rising. I was blown away. Seriously, I couldn't go to bed because I was in disbelief on the sound stage this receiver produces. I wanted to confirm it wasn't a fluke. And I assure you, it's not. It's that good. The question is, is it the Dirac live calibration? Pioneer's amp and tuning? Or both? I don't know and I don't care. I am amazed. Finally, Home theater audio that's not only compelling but very satisfying! But not all is perfect. I am going to guess Pioneer had to make some shortcuts to get this receiver at the price point it is. While its MSRP is $1399.00, that would have been out of my budget and frankly overpriced. But if you check Amazon today? You wouldn't pay anything near that. And trust me when I say, it's a very smart buy. Back to the cons: The included remote is not illuminated, and frankly it's cheap. But the app can mitigate that issue easily. The speaker connection terminal posts are on the lower end. But definitely not the end of the world. Lastly, the display will not hold the Dolby/DTS decoding format. Instead, it defaults back to the source only. You can press the "info" button on the remote to switch it back and display it on the screen, but still I'd much more prefer the former. And considering it's been out for 2 years and received a firmware update since, I'm not holding my breath this will change. On the plus sides, along with the audio, its menus and interfaces are excellent. The Dirac live calibration -which is included with the price of this receiver- is impressive. You just place your calibration mic in your listening area and using its smartphone app you start it and walk away into another room. It will prompt you to change the position of the mic a couple of times, but otherwise you leave the room and do something else while Dirac works its magic tone injecting, magical calculations to perfection. OK. Enough time with the accolades to Pioneer, back to sweet audio movie viewing.

Fact that they sell a $1000 hdmi cable that comes with a big fancy metal case and a certificate of authenticity tells you the company targets the electronic illiterate. And ask yourself why a video with workers is shot in a parking lot and not inside of a manufacturing facility.

Hi, question, I have a Dali subwoofer with a denon x2800h. Whenever I reboot the subwoofer (with the Denon on) it loses signal and I have to unplug everything and do a factory reset to get the signal back. Is this normal ?

if you call yourself an audiophile you should know that it's about sound not looks and price. And if you want to make a correct comparison you compare equal speakers in terms of look, finish, sound quality, and price.

1000's of dollars for a fake wooden box wrapped in wood veneer. Some cheap parts for a cross over...yeah nkst of them are cheap. Air coil inductors too overpriced. So why the high price? R&D perhaps...they need to make the money back.

@@bluerice666 I am not sure anyone can judge a quality of a loudspeaker by just looking at it's box cross section. First and formost it's performance has to be measured with the special tools (for example check Erin's Audio Corner). The same can be said about PCs. The best way to determine PC performance is to run standard benchmark tests rather than just looking at massive shiny cooper coolers with RGB LED backlights and other stuff like that.

Recently I purchased two LX 505 pioneer.. 625 per receiver bought two of them delivered to my house directly from pioneer these renew in the box not be stock not used not refurbished.. and that price lasted for all of 2 weeks and I was lucky enough to gain it. OMG guys .. if you can get this receiver in your hands for less than 800 bucks it's a steal very nice. No I do question the 120 w at 8 ohms per channel across the board.

The door on the front of this receiver is absolutely useless it's taped connection to the receiver all it does is hide buttons what else would it be for?? So take off the front panel door put it away and forget about it until you need to resell the receiver to someone else after you've used it for a while
