    When is the best time to go if you like a nice waist high +\- longboard wave that’s fun but not too big?

  • @scubarocks2004
    @scubarocks20042 жыл бұрын

    Hello! When my house was completed Jan 2021 I moved to Guiones and it was unusual difficult waves for months. I like small longboard waves so I didn’t get out much. Due to the strong real estate market I sold my house in October and moved up north to Avellana where the waves are more forgiving as there is more time between sets. I say all this as I am not the best person to ask but I did read this… The best time of year for surfing Guiones with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Winter and most often the month of January. Clean surfable waves are typically found 16% of the time in January while 3% of the time it tends to be blown out. For the remaining 81% of the time it is considered too small by most surfers but may still be OK for beginners and groms at times.

    Kalia are developers that destroy the beauty of Costa Rica for profit. How can Kaila claim they are sustainable and eco-friendly as 'Costa Rica's fastest growing luxury home' developers with "1,000 acres of lush land, plotted and ready for you to build the home of your dreams" on? If I was going to move to Costa Rica, I think I would much prefer to support people who were doing something to save the natural habitat not plow it down to build more infinity pools. Buy a plot of land that has already been cleared, rebuild better, and then plant native plants all around that. Don't support the gross behavior that Kalia seems to be thriving on... this grossly disguised eco-friendly luxury home developer and the people that pour wealth into the destruction of costa rica is exactly the kind of people that will have the globe in flames in 50 years.

  • @scubarocks2004
    @scubarocks20042 жыл бұрын

    I did not build in Kalia. I opted to build on a lot and had an architect that was passionate about tropical design. We built the house so it was actually hidden among the tropical garden of native plants. We build using the best septic system and had a bionest installed to reuse black water. It’s our responsibility to build responsibly and not encourage the builders, architects, etc to build frivolous to destroy the environment. It’s ultimately our responsibility to tame the beasts.

    Yes, it is sad that there is petty theft there and it happens every day. I just know how to protect myself the best way possible to avoid this from happening. I am moving to Nosara end of 2020 and happy I am moving from a place that has more concrete that land, there were 4 shootings/deaths within a few blocks from where I live. There was an attack and near rape a block from where I lived and cars are broken into on a daily basis. I see no terrorist attacks, mass shootings, school shootings, or other horrible acts of violence so I choose that over the USA (which I love!). But ready for a lifestyle much different. BUT you are so right...petty theft is real and you need to be aware of it. Thanks and I hope you did see the beauty.

The waves are much different than where I live! I’m moving there (building a home now) so I’m looking forward to getting better! The best thing to do is find a local surf shop or surf camp and reach out to see when the waves would be best for a beginner. Dec through April is high/dry season and it’s more populated. This past Oct (which is the month it rains the most) I think the flooding was horrible and there may have been 1 or 2 good days of surf. I’m NO expert but the locals are!

    By the way, what video editing software do you use? I'd like to try to make a video like this the next time I go to Costa Rica.

    I hope you'll make many more videos like this one. The world needs them! I just watched another video on Nosara and half of it was the guy's face. The only thing I wondered about your is why at the beginning you didn't zoom in on Costa Rica and put a pin in Nosara. To keep the location secret? :- )

    Superb job on making it to the summit. What app did you use to record your distance, calories, etc? I'm due to go late September. Thanks!

    Thanks Erick! You will have an amazing time! My friend had the distance/Timing device and I think it was a Garmin watch. I hope you have a very successful summit!

    Aldo Parenti Hi Aldo! Did you stay at base camp? I don't have a dog so it may have been another short lady that you met 😂. But it was so great to meet others along the way!! Congrats on your summit! It was epic!! Keep rockin'!!

    Wow! Much different from my Sept 15th 2016 summit. The switchbacks are covered and flooded and so much snow. Congrats! and glad you made it!

    winky phillips Congrats on your summit! The amount of snow shocked me and three of the switchbacks you had to scale the side of to get to the next one due to snow covering them. Another frightening experience! But so incredible to summit and see miles and miles of beauty! Thanks for your message!

    Hi Kellie: It's an awesome video. I will hike Mt. Whitney on July 27. Did you use crampons when you cross the the snow area? Is it necessary?

    Joseph Jaw Hello! Thanks for your comment! It will be an epic hike for you and I hope it is an incredible experience! Although I didn't have crampons it would have been nice to have them when ascending and descending the snowy parts. The sketchy area was really scary and even with crampons be very careful. Many hikers had crampons and poles. I had a run skirt and running shoes due to last minute decision to climb. Next time I will be more prepared 😂. Enjoy!!

    Awesome video and just what i needed to see!!! I am heading up with my dad on the 25th! Did you use crampons at all? How long did it take you to summit?

    Hi Kody! Awesome! You and your dad have an amazing adventure ahead of you! It was an epic experience! Many had crampons and poles and they HIGHLY recommend them. I didn't have anything but a running skirt and running shoes as it was a last minute decision. There were a few spots I would have benefited from crampons! It's 22 miles round trip so depending on your ability or how you react to altitude (I'm from sea level) it should take 9 hours to 11 hours to summit and 6 hours to 8 hours to descend. Enjoy!!
