    Thank you for the video. In order to connect my rtl sdr to mt ft-950 i jad to use a custom cable to connect to the service monitor connection inside the radio. I was curious how you are connected to the radio with this setup. You have my gears turning and a project in progress is changing shape after finding this video. Nice work by the way.

    This is great! Nice job. Is there a reason to use the R2 and converter instead of the HF+Discovery version of Airspy’s SDR products? I don’t know much about SDR, but it looks like the HF+ Discovery is an all in one unit that does the job of your R2 and converter. I’d love to hear your take. I’m in the middle of a go box project that is centered around the FT-891. Adding a little waterfall screen would be so rad. I’m excited to see how this evolves.

    I have not been able to get my RTL-SDR R820T2 RTL2832U Version 3 dongle to work as a panadapter with either my Kenwood TS-570DG or my Yaesu FT-920.. The dongle I bought from Amazon is smile.amazon.com/RTL-SDR-Blog-RTL2832U-Software-Defined/dp/B0129EBDS2/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1513624240&sr=1-4&keywords=sdr The dongle works fine otherwise as a ham/shortwave/police monitor. I have tapped the proper location for the 1st IF in both radios and inputted the proper 1st IF frequencies in HDSDR. I can control radios with OmniRig , but my panadapter display shows nothing but a few random lines. Just does not work! Maybe it is the particular dongle I am using. Also, my computer is plenty fast ...I7 32gb ram, etc..... Any ideas?

    I haven't seen anyone post a solution here so I'm gonna leave suggestions for troubleshooting your Apple TV & Remote. Step 1: Try repairing your remote by simply holding the "Menu" and "Volume Up (+)" Button for three seconds. Let go and wait 3 seconds then tap the Menu button. This should re-pair your remote and you should have a working remote again. Step 2: Restart your Apple TV. Simply hold down the "Menu" and "TV" Buttons at the same time for 10 seconds. Let got and wait 10 seconds, your Apple TV will reboot. You will see the Apple logo, then your dashboard/home screen. Everything should work. Step 3: Unplug your Apple TV for 30 seconds. Come back Plug it back in and everything should be working as normal. If you are going through these steps more than once a week take video of the issue happening, then take your device to the Apple Store, they will help you!

    You do need an up-converter depending on the model of SDR stick you get. Most stop at 24Mhz. There is an experimental driver available for SDR# that allows the SDR RTL models to go down to like 13-14Mhz. I have the same setup as SA6HAM but was unable to see anything below 24Mhz in HDSDR. Just bought a Ham It Up converter and will put it in line before the SDR stick which should allow me to get down to 100kHz.

    Thanks for the great quality video with explanations. There are a few things you might consider when doing that. 1. the impedance of the test point may not be 75 Ohm, which is the input impedance of the dongle, so depending on the stage, you might cause a mismatch that may ruin the leveling in all the following stages. 2. the over voltage protection diodes (BAV99?) in the dongle may cause intermod if the impedance and voltage levels at this point are high and the last amp has enough drive to not be attenuated from the dongles load and maintain relatively high RF voltages for a receiver stage. 3. running the unbuffered signal along a coax cable with an impedance not equal to the test point might bring noise from the outside into the IF stage of the transceiver ... e.g. USB noise created by the often poorly blocked DC/DC converters used in notebooks. 4. running the coax with the USB noise on the shield right into the radio, not grounding it on the chassis may also be a source of noise ... so once you have been proving the concept, make sure you run the signal via a chassis-grounded connector ... maybe also use common mode choke on the cable and things should be cleaner after that. So if this experiment shows any of the mentioned effects, you may consider inserting a single stage impedance/buffer amplifier consisting of a single J310 FET that taps into the text point with just a few pF towards its gate, in order to get rid of any DC components and create the least possible load onto the IF circuit. Some very simple circuit like e.g. Fig. 4 on this page ... you have to scroll a bit sites.google.com/site/linuxdigitallab/low-noise-crystal-experiment/hartley-sweep-genarator-experimental might already be good enough ... it looks good, since you don't need amplification, you just need linearity and impedance conversion. As a nice side effect, apps like SDR#, SDR-Console and I believe HDSDR as well offer smart noise filtering on the IF and audio level, which is much better than most transceivers built in noise reduction, if there is any. And receiving DRM with freeware is a fun new aspect as well since 10KHz bandwidth should not be discriminated in the first IF stage. Enjoy

    the SDR just sees what ever frequency the TS-570 passes to it? No need for an up converter because the 570 has already done that? Great video thank!

  • @sa6ham
    @sa6ham8 жыл бұрын

    +solidsnake182 Exactly. Part of the stuff the transceiver does is change the frequency in various stages. At IF stage 1, what ever frequency the VFO is tuned to instead becomes 73.05 MHz.

  • @solidsnake182
    @solidsnake1828 жыл бұрын

    +SA6 HAM thanks, so the SDR should be tuned to 73.05 MHz on gqrx, thats pretty cool.

  • @sa6ham
    @sa6ham8 жыл бұрын

    +solidsnake182 And in say HDSDR you can tell the software the offset frequency and connect a data cable so the software can display the "correct" frequency on the display. That's my next goal, but ordering from china takes forever...
