Fatah/PA and Hamas are mortal enemies which are forced to try to find common ground, due to Israel's genocidal pressure. This is often impossible to accomplish, since their positions are incompatible, and they end up butchering each other, sometimes even taking innocent Palestinian lives in the process. Hamas doesn't want to give up armed resistance nor recognize Israel's occupation as legit, it refuses to play the beggar's role. Fatah has resigned itself to accept the reality of things, after over 50 years of experiencing what happens when you don't play the beggar's role with Israel and its allies.

I will have to disagree. Edward Said is a postmodernist. Postmodernists have many internal inconsistencies not the least the belief of no objective history. Islm will spread and they wont stop with Isrl and Europe. The actions derived from ideas and the belief derived from their book and history is plain to see.
What a profound and personal insight of the situation. We are all navigating in the fake and supercial waters of a conflict that is made up of so many real and individual stories and dramas tied together. The narrative of Israel is that of a colonial occupying force and cannot be taken as just, it is nothig but a story made up on the subjugation on an entire people, their government has shown to proceed in a manner of a murderous intent. Their narrative is a cumulation of false and artificial statements that pretends to squash out a reality.

There is SO MUCH that he leaves out, and it has little to do with the limits of time: a sentence or two here and there might have increased the length by a total of five minutes and been one hundred times more accurate. Some of what he talks about is damn near ahistorical without relevant context.
What he brushes over is the mass expulsion of Palestinians in 1948 was requested by the Arab nations so they could wipe out Israel. They lost. And are still losing. But America and Israel have to be concerned about humanitarian aid now for the loss of those Arab nations.
