    Thank you! Only if I found your video yesterday. I borrowed the exact tool from a friend but couldn't figure out how to set the drill bit depth (missing manual) so I just used best logic and judgement. My pocket holes turned out great. Now Gotta go finish that fence gate.

    I have a hole at least that big due to a contractor almost falling through and am now waiting for them to fix it. I wondered about how it's done and you've made it look easy enough, thank you for that, but these guys have to deal with fiber glass plus blown in insulation, which is going to just create a huge mess, which I've already cleaned up from the start. Not looking forward to it getting fixed but it has to be done. I hope they do as good a job as you have.

    I hate this floor design lol I don’t like the speckles but it’s like the standard garage floor where I live. I think the flat grey looks more clean and modern.

    So you set the jig and the collar based on the thickness of the material that you are going to be screwing a board to. As opposed to the thickness of the board that you are drilling into? Is that correct? Thanks.

  • @michaelmccoy4989
    @michaelmccoy498912 күн бұрын

    Adjust the jig for the piece you're putting the pocket in, and the screw is based off the piece you're screwing it to. Ex. A 2x4 with pockets to a 3/4 board. Set jig to 1-1/2" and use the 1-11/4 screw to join it.

    Great video. We purchased two of these on sale for $139 each (internet coupon) -- and they're every bit as good as described in your video. I checked them out in the store, it was easy to see they were assembled sloppily. I would consider this a light-duty bench -- not for mounting heavy work. With that understood, it works fine. Unlike yours, my drawer side pieces are finger-jointed hardwood, vs. MDF. I have zero wood-working skills and found the bench pieces well-labeled and easy for one-person assemble. As with IKEA projects, it's a matter of getting in to the right head space -- earbuds and podcasts work for me -- and not proceeding further til you understand the instructions. Took me about 90 minutes each to assemble -- much of which was unwrapping the excellent packaging. HEADS UP: as others have noted: it is easy to get the side pieces for the drawers backwards. These were the #11 and #12 pieces on mine, and if you get these backwards the drawers won't insert. As others have noted, I actually would say the instructions are mislabeled for these two parts. Definitely take your time with the first drawer, do a test fit, and don't do the other drawers until you fully understand how they assemble. I am having wheels delivered today, so I can move the tables into a more square-ish configuration -- for bigger projects when the benches aren't up against the end of our garage. In a nutshell: solid, excellent value, strong design, easy to assemble and well thought out. Thanks for the very professional, cut-to-the-chase video!

    I suggest you use the tape measure tool to create guide lines instead of drawing a small line, like you did to create the rabbit on the top. It accomplishes the same thing, but its easier to use.

    I just got one of these brand new through auction for 67.00. I put it together but haven’t used it yet. I noticed the variable speed is hard to turn when it not running. I haven’t really messed with it or read the instructions but I imagine the variable speed handle will be a lot easier to adjust if it’s done while it’s running. Is that right?

    I'm sorry, but this video teaches a lot of bad habits, and advocates for doing simple things in such a complicated way.... Look at the "Sketchup for Woodworkers" series from Woodworking Academy, or the free tutorials from the Sketchup School for MUCH better introductions to Sketchup.

    Rent proper concrete grinder or get down with a really coarse grit belt sander, acid etching does not work.
