The Scuba Diving Channel

The Scuba Diving Channel

Diving should be easier and more accessible for more people (I'll die on that hill). The Scuba Diving Channel plows through the barriers by bringing experts and "people of interest" directly to you. We cut through agency bias, gear bias, & old habits by bringing the newest ideas to the table. "The Scuba Diving Podcast" host Kenny Dyal interviews top talent from underwater personalities & industry leaders, bringing their stories, insight and advice for all to hear. Growing awareness to the underwater world is a win-win-win for professionals, the public, and our oceans and waterways. I believe in the old saying, "A rising tide raises all ships". The more credible knowledge that we can get out there, the better off we all are. I TRULY believe the world of scuba diving, free diving, mermaiding, or whatever gets people's eyes in the water, improves our lives. "Let's show the rest of the world the rest of the world".

the bp&W is great for beginners to progress, as mentioned in the video, so you don’t have to keep buying new gear, UNTIL you get into sidemount and then you need a whole new sidemount bcd and second regulator set, and more redundant gear/tools, and then if you go into different gas mixes an O2 cleaned regulator for your stage tanks will be important.

WTF, you're really advocating a 34 diver barge as the epitome of diving in the Keys?! For sure the owner's love their big barge they can cram 2 1/2 dozen divers on, works for them. Count me not there. Doesn't matter how many gate choices, there's still going to be up to 34 divers in the same proximity at the same time, and you can bet most of them will be thrashing around kicking up silt and grabbing onto whatever living bits they can reach. Oh, and the one choice over-water suite... yeah, so nice and everyone can book that reasonable room rate.

😢The buddy question deserves way more discussion than a short. Personally I think dive buddy's are highly overrated, except for buying lunch and post dive beers. If your dive buddy isn't within about arms reach they aren't going to do you much good in an emergency. I prefer to rely on the redundancy of my equipment, training and 45 years of experience.

In reality, the " advanced " ( and rescue)course should be part of the initial course. As the basic scuba course only teaches people enough to get them into trouble. And tought properly, not like most....

Might be because of distance and light levels. Small signs that are dependent on fingermotions and such are hard to see underwater, making bigger gestures necessary. And on the surface it's important to be very visible with what you are telling the dropboat. But for common communications, and conversations, it would make sense to adopt sign language. Other signs are vital for the safety of the divers, like boat, shark and barometer are not easily replaceable, especially in situations where you need to warn people immediately.

Also you can bring your RV, travel trailer or tent I have been in DD twice. I live within a couple of hours of it. It’s interesting but not a bucket list dive. One dive and you’ve seen the whole thing. It’s a novelty dive for sure.

I dive my own gear, not rental gear, and never use those nasty, communal dipsheet tanks that are nothing but bad biology hazards experiments. Hose, sink and showers take care of the gear cleaning.

I work in the Chicago area for a county hwy department. A can of OFF bug spray was ran over right before lunch and sprayed on the equipment. After lunch we noticed the paint was wrinkled and coming off the machine where the OFF BUG SPRAY got on it. Needless to say, i will never spray that on my skin ever again.
