I'm really enjoying your videos. I've been collecting SW products for years and recently have found people to play them with and even got some of my 5e players to switch. Given that 4e D&D is my favorite official version of D&D, I'm happy to see some of those books next to your 5e books. Also, what's the story behind the Furby?

I found that there wasn't enough tools in this book to help me run adventures, so I bought more books to help. Then I found other systems even a free one that had the tools that were missing.....

The idea that a non-combat character can still contribute to combat in an inventive way is something I can appreciate. My friends love playing D&D, but the "Enchanter/Buffer," feels a bit worthless, since he offers little damage. This would solve that, by giving something beyond the HELP action.

I was about to follow in the footsteps of Me, Myself, and Die! I wanted to try out several systems so that I could determine which one I should solo-play on Twitch for worldbuilding and creativity practice. I can't wait to see how the story in a Savage World would inspire my decisions!

I tried watching this, as I partially rely on lip reading to a degree, and as interesting as it was I'm afraid I had to turn it off as the choice of background (while thematic) was at such low frames it negatively impacted my eyes.

The best definition I've come up with is: A specific flow state achieved by a player where disbelief is held at maximal suspension, where the player is able to make decisions as the character in real time, experience the emotions of the character, and almost overlay the real senses with a whisper of what the character is sensing. It's the closest your brain can come to letting you method act in a holodeck.

This is mindbogglingly helpful for solo play in savage worlds! I've been really apprehensive about GMing because of concern for random encounters being a ton of lookups and note-taking. Thanks so much for this and for your other work. You've really unlocked these games, not to mention Basic Fantasy RPG, for me, and that will make great games for my players, including one who has never played a TTRPG before. That rocks, and so do you, sir!

I used to think this suggestion was suboptimal, but I was wrong. Constitution for concentration saves is good, but it isn't the most important benefit of this multiclass. I've been playing a bladesinger in a weekly campaign for the past 4 months. My character has just barely survived to level 6, and the thing that has nearly ruined me is failed constitution saves against certain AOEs, poison, and lycanthropy (when the DM managed to land a crit against me with a wererat). Having started with a level of Artificer would have been a massive help.

Thank you for this! Some old friends and I are hoping to get back into Fantasy role playing for the first time in 25 years soon. We were thinking we would have to get the old basic D&D box sets somehow... (we've been out of if for a long, long time lol) Basic Fantasy RPG sounds perfect for us. We want something simple, so that we spend more time playing and less time feeling like lawyers.

I got into Dark Fantasy Basic, it is super stripped down D&D, 4 classes humans that's it. About a dozen spells you can cast however you want. Fire, it's ball its wall its cone, how strong do you want it? Any strength you want the DC just go's up. Customize character through feats that are pretty simple. I like it because when everything is epic nothing is epic. Dragons Orcs and vampires are not special if you have 2 dragonborns and a vampire half orc in your party. Also I am not a fan of multiclass because then it becomes about power leveling. It's a role playing game pick a role and play it.

Also Dark Fantasy Basic character background supplies (it's like a dollar maybe) has a cool way of doing stats. Roll 3d20 and a table with options from type of game you want from hopeless to gritty to epic, generates 6 stats. I really like that because it like picking difficulty level for the kinda game you want.

Would it be possible to do a Star Wars, Padawan jedi initiate game? Force Powers instead of magic, speeder bikes instead of brooms?

That would transfer over pretty easily as long as you aren't holden to very specific force powers. The magic system is very free form and narrative.

If you are in a campaign that you believe will hit high levels, this is cutting your throat, long term for short term gain. Most high level campaigns I have been in spent far more time between levels in the 15-20 range than in the 6-10 range. You push back the incredibly powerful abilities at 14, and worse, you push back spell mastery. As dips go, this has a lot to offer, but personally, I would not do it.
