This is the channel of the Putrid Painter. I make tutorial videos on how to paint Warhammer miniatures and scenery. I tend to go for gross and the macabre so you can expect a lot of Nurgle miniatures.
If you have any questions or want to get in contact with me @ [email protected] or check out my Instagram for behind the scenes photo's and photoshoots of my models.

If you want to make the intestines look visually accurate for diseased guts, add a little of shyish purple to them. Thin it down 2:3 purple to medium and wash it over the large intestines (the more bulbous intestines) and then highlight it that fleshy color you've got. Healthy intestines are pinkish red. I've got an ileostomy so I see my intestines 2-4 times per week and when I had a small portion of my large intestines removed, I saw dark purple (I have Crohn's disease so the ulcers turn purple).
Keep up the good work though!
That is an awesome reply thank you! I’ll will definitely try that. Good luck with your disease though! Hope it doesn’t hinder you too much
I'd really like to convert and paint up some Khornate Space Wolves
Go for it! Do show me when you have them
@@ThePutridPainter Maybe if I had enough money to afford some more models, I'd try to show you some WIPs
How does this not have more views? Amazing work!
Thanks for the compliment :)
Looks amazing 👏 very well done! 👌
Very kind thank you 😉
Oh wow! Looks spectacular!
Cheers mate!
Hi. I’ve been looking for painting examples of the swamp calla and yours is very good plus very similar to the colours I’ve planned so thanks very much !
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate you letting me know :)
You make DIY contrast paint! BravO!!!
What have you applied to the bases of the models before painting?
I applied some flames I printed from Epic Basing and texture paste
how long this took to actually paint?
Usually a model like this takes me 2 evenings to paint so circa 8 hours
i love this but cant recreate because the amount of paints used is insane😅
Yes that is a valid complaint! I’ve been collecting paints for quite a bit. Maybe I should make a list of must-have paints because there are definitely some I used almost everytime
I love this model more than the standard bc Kharn w/ out Gore-Child.. just isn’t the Betrayer
His original pose also has Gorechild but the pose is just so awkward
absolutely phenomenal
Thank you kind sir!
Those shields are great
Thank you! I think they work quite wel with the barbarians
Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
That’s bloody gruesome, amazing
Thank you :)
How were those primed?
I first primed the model black and then tried (with emphasis on tried) to do a zenithal of white primer. Should've used an ink bcause the white primer is super chunky and that's the result you see when I start painting. Luckily the paint wasn't think so no details were lost.
What base coat or spray did you use before starting please?
I primed this model with a grey primer. I think it was from Army Painter
Brilliant I might go for a mechanics standard grey in that case
Love your style, presentation and general being. All the best
Thank you so much 🙂
I love your paint job and I was wondering if you could paint the chaos knights of the slave to darkness
Yes I still need to build those. Not sure if they'll be very different from the Warriors but I will be painting the Darkoath horses soon :)
May you please do a tutorial on a nuclear winter base or nurgle snow base
I'll add them to the list of requests :)
@@ThePutridPainter thanks 👍
Great paint job
Cheers! Grandma Nurgle has seen many battle now
Love that brass/bronze next to the blue shield.
Thanks!
Looks awesome ,man.
Cheers!
they look really cool
Thank you!
👍
My question is for you how do you get your dirty down moss to stay shiny, and not do the effect? Do you not heat it up before you use it? Or is it due to the water you use to feather it out?
Well I'm not actually sure! I don't warm it up at least and maybe because I saturate it with water it doesn't do the effect? I don't add any varnish
Looking forward to your version of the Harbinger of decay. Don't stress it too much, just start painting and it will come together in the end!
Thanks for the kind words :)
that banner looks phenomenal! they look great as a whole, but that banner, wow
Thank you! Tutorial will up probably coming weekend :)
Personally the first 2 paints do the trick just fine. I'd
Oh yeah if you’re happy with that result go for it :)
A tutorial on how to paint skinless flesh/muscles would be nice
I actually have that already! kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3Vo3Mtxlq6smcY.html
Looks realy good keep it up
Thank you!
Skibidi’s plaugepack (I’m sorry)
haha I had to look up what that meant hehe
another great tutorial! and great finish with the flight stands! have ordered 5 myself. (the link is broken now btw, think they moved the item in their store)
Thanks for the compliment! I fixed the link as well :)
Nice work ❤🔥
Thanks 🔥
Odd question, you use a load of different paints, how come you don’t mix colours to get the shades you want?
Skin is incredible btw ❤
Not an odd question :) I consider myself an army painter. So I usually want to work as efficiently possible. For that I’d rather use different paints instead of mixing for convenience. If I come back to an army later I don’t want to spend time mixing colors and hoping things will look the same. But there is no wrong or correct way here. If someone has limited paints then mixing is a great way to work
The mustard gas yellow cloaks are phenomenal
Thank you!
Wicked
It’s as if the gobbos went and celebrated Holi the Festival of Colours - I never would have considered it, but it works so well!
Oh yeah I would see Gobbos doing that :) The concept for this army was them running in one of their many caves being illuminated by the shrooms
lovely painted zombies. cool guide you have made
Thank you! Cheers!
I really hate the direction the FEC are going under current GW.
What don’t you like about it? I don’t really care for the lore where they imagine themselves as knights but I do like the models
Nice! More Flesh-eater content!
More will follow in the near future!
I think personally a combo of the two army painters and the Blood for the Blood God would cover all bases and I think those three would do pretty much all things you would need I am having fun exploring rust, and finding combos of different colours work so well together!
I agree! And yes there are so many options when it comes to rust!
OK this was awesome! Now I have a question on how you painted the black skin. Do you think it would look good in reverse on a larger Tyranid? Like start with black then go up with purple shades?
I think that would work! just build up lighter and lighter layers and you should have something cool :)
@@ThePutridPainter I'll give it a shot.Thanks!
The only citadel paints i buy are their Technical paints, and their metallics. Blood for the blood god, and Tesseract glow are fantastic. Stirland mud is great, bit pricey if you need a lot tho, hex wraith flame and nihilakh oxide is great too. Their metallics are decent too, i do like other brands more, but not as simple as walking into my local hobby store and getting it off the shelf.
We are spoiled for choice nowadays. I am also using other brands now but for videos it's usually best to use Citadel paints as most people have them. I'm definitely growing very fond of AK Interactive paints
you left out the best blood, the Abt502 blood red. That mixed with Engine Grease from Abt502 is the best blood there is.
I was not aware of this one. I'll check it out for sure :)
the army painter blood effects are made to be used together. Stunning results when combined!!!
I tried it out and I agree!
If you check out the AP video: Warpaints Fanatic Painting Special Effects; at 3 minutes in, you see that the Dry Blood also cracks like a scab 😜👍
Hey thanks I checked it out! All the new special effects paints look great!
I would recommend another look at tamiya clear red its the most versatile with the addition of brown ink it can go from fresh to old blood and any shade in-between and I don't recommend thinning it use it neat thanks for the great video bring on the gore!
Thanks for the suggestion! I forgot to mention it but the purpose of this video was to look for a 'out of the box' blood effect paint. Clear Red could work awesome as a filter and combining different blood paints could work very well too but I wanted to keep the review a bit basic. Maybe I can do another one where I check out combinations to enhance gore
Who else assumed that during him putting the paints on the pallet, he was going to say, "And here is my blood!" 😂
Oh man missed opportunity haha. See me super pale in the outro from the bloodletting
