No you are not alone in your opinion on PRS guitars,I have a singlecut PRS that I just cant get on with !!! Theres a smug politeness about them & I really dislike the doublecut & headstock design !!! Great guitars should be eye candy first to act like a magnet to us !! Like my reliced black guard Teles that I cant put down !!! The thought of reliced PRS sounds like the paranoia of scratching the new coffee table !!!!

Your setup sounds better than I expected. Not very harsh or tinnitus inducing sharp If someone can replicate the super reverb fender sound with that huge headroom and heavenly reverb, that will be the day huge amps are no longer needed.

Gone shooting isn’t underrated. It is one of the greatest blues guitar riffs of all time. The Delta Bluesman would’ve been proud to hear Angus lay it down.

If it snaps at the bridge maybe take some fine grit sandpaper like 400 - 600, fold it and then clean out the notch where the string is placed in. Most times it isn't the downward force but a burr when the notch was cut first that wasn't removed. Take a look at it with a magnifying glass.

I have an original 64 SG. I got it from my grandfather. SGs are awesome guitars. I’ve got a few other guitars and the SG is my favorite.

The problem is Gibson quality control. Over the last 35 years I’ve had three, the 96 and 2002 models I had were f**king awful at staying in tune. Slightest change of humidity and you were tweaking the truss rod. I replaced the tuners on both of these which did help. Playing under stage lighting would be enough to get the tuning to drift all over the place. The 96, after a year started to get really noisy volume pots too. My 2015 one though is a different story, action is good and in general stays in tune well. Only change I made was to install a graphite nut. Buyer beware, if you get a good one then you’re lucky.

I bought an SG once as I thought it would be ideal as it’s light with good upper fret access but when you’re playing standing up It was very weird as everything seemed to be in the wrong place & the neck seemed very very long . I play Ibanez, Gibson Les Paul’s, fender Strats ,tele’s Jackson’s ,charvels etc no problem but the SG is very odd the way it sits on you when playing standing . I want to get past this as I’d like to buy a decent Gibson standard but don’t want to buy it & then if I just can’t get used to it have to sell it again

Huh? I have 6 SG’s and 2 Les Pauls, love em all! Absolutely nothing wrong with any of them, IMHO. The neck/headstock may be a bit more fragile than Strats for example but that’s really nothing unless you abuse you guitar, In which case your an idiot.

Your serial number makes it 1999 I have a black MIM same year its hands down better than my american strat and my 2017 MIM strat plan to sell these but never never the 99.
