I have a question for you. If you are knocking how many leads you think you should get per hour? If your going for anything and everything? Like leading in with roofing and then asking them what’s the next project they are looking to do. I would think everyone needs something done to their houses. It’s tough to come up with a number, however, if we can’t get 2 roof inspections per hour we usually move territory. We have knocked for solar, if we got 1 in home presentation per hour we were happy.

Hey!! Thank you for the question! For me I want to close $1.5M in business each year so I can make atleast $150K. So for me, I get 25 leads per week. Now, I may get 25 by Wednesday or I may have to work until late Saturday night to hit my goal. But either way I go until I get 25 l leads per week. This 25 leads may be a combination of door knocking, friends, family, business groups, realtors, or referrals. But the math makes sense for me. My average roof is $15k and to hit $1.5M in sales or 100 roofs. So, my goal is to work 40 weeks per year, get 25 leads per week, close 2.5 per week, and have a great Christmas 😀😀 2.5x40=100 roofs 100x$15k=1.5M sales $1.5Mx10%=$150K in commissions Hope this helps!! You gotta know how much you wanna make before you truly can set goals!! Shoot for the moon 🚀!! In this industry anything is possible in my opinion!! 💪💪💪

I had a company knock on my door for "free roof inspection" the other day. When the inspection / sales guys came by, the mistake they made was just being pushy... "We don't take a maybe as maybe means no". Whatever. Like on a whim with no prior thought, and with no comparative data points I am going to say "Yeah, ok, let's write up that contract to obligate me for a 30 or 40 thousand roof deal. Give me a break. No rational person does that. The worst part is, after research, the company seems solid, the components among the best, etc. But I may end up not using them just because of their ridiculously high pressure sales tactics. If the guys just would have backed off a little and been reasonable, I probably would have called them back by now that I had time to do a little research and arranged for the roof job.

Hey Jay, So I just recently got hired as a sales rep for a roofing company in Texas. I have no door to door/ sales experience, and in these first couple of days in training, I've been starting to worry or doubt myself a lot. The company has been asking us "WHY" every day, and I feel like I have so many things to respond with, but it makes me think that I'm wrong every time they ask again lol. We've been doing a lot of role play and learning at an exhilarating rate. During these role plays, I can pick out the LeBron and Michael Jordan that have shown their skills, and its hard to get on their level for sure. That's mainly why I start to doubt myself. But I want to become just as good as them! I took a shot at this job because I wanted to improve my life skills, that nearly apply to everything (interpersonal skills), be able to grow as a person, make a better life for me and my significant other, and lastly, to help and serve people in this life. I'm not 100% sure many roofs ill be able to sell, but to me, its unlimited. Whatever God hands you. So just wanted to say, Thanks for making these videos Jay! It means a lot.

Having a “WHY” is huge! Sounds like you’re working with a good company with good leadership! Keep us updated on your progress!! Remember, people overestimate what they can do in a month and underestimate what they can do with in 24 months. Control the activity and the rest will fall into place 💪💪💪

Obviously not being interested you have nothing to lose at that point so if you want to try it go ahead but it's something I don't do. What I say is "I understand sir, but your still entitled to hear it right?" If they continue to say I'm not interested, I simply say, "I didn't expect you to be interested. Alot of homeowners here weren't interested as well before I replaced their roof. My company is interested enough in homeowners like you, they pay guys like me to knock on doors to create interest, sound fair"? Now I know that's alot but NY point is becareful how aggressive you come off at the door. But again, at this you have nothing to lose so say what you want I just wanted to give my take on the "why not".

I literally just called my insurance agent to verify the acts of God statement you made. He said he hasn’t seen a single company raise rates due to weather or acts of God in the past 10 years. He said you’ll see increases for plumbing issues and theft., thanks for this!!

We get paid per inspection. Most of our customers follow us through the neighborhood and jump on the roof right away to help the homeowner as quick as possible. 💪💪

Any tips on closing same day quotes? Example: home owner wants to wait until the spring and is collecting various quotes. The roof is ready to be removed and installed now. How would I help them understand the urgency of better now then later?

Honestly I would ask how many layers their roof has if it has 4+ that’s not good because it can’t handle much weight plus that much weight could cause damage in the future they don’t know about because of the layer after layer. Offer them a discount/promotion. Let them know the price of it right now is the best it will be as how everything is increasing in price.
