Reading Mr. Weigel's biography led me to the Catechism, second edition which I read twice before converting. Rereading the biography now my understanding has changed in light of these times(2022). Sometimes I think We Catholics are in the 'refiner's fire'.
the steps to getting into the seminary, you have to have your shit together, period. no one gives a shit how much you pray, how holy you are nothing, what matters is can you hide your flaws, can you handle college level classes, are you employed , do you have a lot of debt. Do you think you can handle not having sex. That is it in a nut shell, nothing secretive or supernatural. Try being poor, uneducated in todays world, and tell some bishop, well, God told me to be a priest, and I go to church everyday, but all i got is a GED and I am unemployed, and watch yourself get laughed out of his office.

There is an answer to the doctor's question. All the Dachaus must remain standing. The Dachaus, the Belsens, the Buchenwalds, the Auschwitzes - all of them. They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the Earth into a graveyard. Hi - seminarian here :). When I was your age I was also discerning, something that was so important for me was seeking spiritual direction within the context of confession. If you simply told your confessor that you feel God calling you to the priesthood as well as any doubts you have and his advice on how to proceed - I believe this will lead you to greater clarity about a possible priestly vocation.
