yeah one of the reasons I kind of hate Nvidia these days, their terrible driver support and supressing of market advancements through shady practices also are among them. but people buy Nvidia since they beleive it to be good, Nvidia tunes it's GPU's for benchmarks but not for real use. and since everyone blindly buys Nvidia's new crappy cards for insanely high prices and they controlled the market pretty much, which they littereally abused to stall the advancement of GPU's and computer tech greatly so they could make slightly more proffit with less effort, and later on could just launch a gpu meant to launch 4 years ago and people will see it as good since they haven't seen improvements in gpu's for 5 years. also why I am so glad about Intels Battlemage coming soon. also with Nvidia supressing the computer tech market, I mean so quite litterally, not only through shady practices, but also due to the market share they keep due to that since weak people somehow have the tendency to just follow the gangster/dictator/terrorist(nvidia). but nvidia gpu's intentionally still largely depend on rather inefficient and old/outdated technologies, to which nvidia also speciffically kind of has a patent on the only way to kind of do that well since it is just so outdated. but nvidia is the most used gpu brand in pc so all softwares and such now are optimized for such insane legacy tech, meaning they use comletely different instructions etc. and force other companies to also have to use those legacy things a lot, while there actually already are much newer technologies far more efficient and far faster, but nvidia intentionally doesn't use those since they controll the market so also what softwares use, and these new technologies often are either open source or even free openn source, or open standard, or just owned by someone else who allows pretty much anyone to use it properly which kind of prevents nvidia from locking it down so people require their hardware. it is kind of like the shit apple has been doing but actually many times more extreme and evil. so f@ck nvidia, but not litterally since we don't want more of them.

All RTX gpus have been disappointing overall. Their performance is abysmal. A 4090 can't even max out 60 fps at 4k with ray tracing without garbage upscaling.

I've been telling people that 12gb of vram is fine, especially for 1440p which is basically the target market of the 4070 anyway. Too many AMD shills thinking VRAM is the most important part of a GPU (it is not). The type of memory being used also matters, GDDR6X which the 4070 uses is faster bandwidth than regular GDDR6. Also memory clock + core clock and type of bus matters. People need to stop judging how good a card is based off VRAM, this has never been an accurate way to judge a card in the past and that is no different today.

That probably won't happen price wise imo, definitely won't be surprised if the 5080 is above 1199 on launch. They are still way ahead in terms of users/adopters and will likely use "a.i." as an excuse to stay more expensive than the competition relative to actual performance

All what's driving Nvidias Sales is herd mentality and fake news about AMD Drivers still being unstable. AMD does good GPUs right now folks! The one thing where Nvidia really shines is power efficiency. I run a 7800XT in my main build and I couldnt be happier. It's my first AMD card for a long time, last one was a Radeon 9800. My wife runs a 4060ti, but only because she exclusively plays WoW and WoW has a critical bug which makes AMD drivers crash sometimes on some cards. Note that this is not an AMD driver issue.

I suggest getting the RTX 3060 TI. It's only 2% slower than the RTX 2080 Super, and you won't even notice the difference, especially when it comes to gaming. It's both cheaper and newer, meaning it will have driver support for a longer period.

Exactly! Even for the higher end, I know people who still use their dual Titan RTX 10980XE 256GB Quad Channel builds despite knowing they can afford a current gen upgrade. There just hasn't been enough performance increase for them to justify it.

Not true the progress is just as good as the high-end, it's just that they shifted the names and prices up. For example the rtx 4070 Ti is a 60 class card as it has 294mm^2 die size, while the 3060 has a 276mm^2 die size. And the 4070Ti is 2.28x faster than the 3060. The rtx 4080 Super is a 70 class card as it is 379mm^2 while the 3070 is 392mm^2 and the 4080 super is 1.96x faster than the 3070. The rtx 4060 is a 30/40 class GPU at 147mm^2 and it's 4x faster than the GTX 1630. So why did they shift the names and prices up? That's what happens when people don't look at die size, but look at the names of GPUs and chips.

Ok, you know what wattage is? each of those 3 cards has a drastically different wattage, with the 4060 being the least at 130 watts. Which, if you're looking for content, would make a really good rant. But yea, the model numbers actually signify nothing. I would love it if AMD or NVIDIA or INTEL would introduce model numbers that included the wattage, or if AMD's cards would actually operate within the TDP they indicate as opposed to going 40-150 watts over that.

The 3060 was a huge improvement and puts a hole right through this argument. As does the 4070. Why else would the 3060 have been so popular of an upgrade for people? The ommission of 70 class cards here is pretty odd too, they're mid range as well. 2070 to 3070 to 4070 are all pretty decent leaps. The 2070 to 4070 on Cyberpunk 1080p is just shy of a 100% leap. Just read the Techspot article which benched 50 games. The average at 1080p is a 100% uplift and 1440p is 102%. You can't play anything really on a 2070 at 4k. A 4070 can actually play some modern stuff at 4K. Even the 3070 to 4070 is a solid jump, average 25%(+) performance increase at 1440p. Upgrade worthy? I'd still wait till 5070 to be more frugal but if you needed to there'd be no downside. And while the 4060 isn't too much a leap over the 3060, if you're coming from almost anything under a 3060 its a sizeable upgrade that gives you all the new fun tools and has a 16gb model to boot, even with the restircted bus. The card still can call what its generating without rendering it again. Has the improvement been as much as we'd like or ideal for that matter? No, but its there and this video is pretty pointless. The fact the comparison was made in PCIe Gen 3 only and not 3 and 4 is frankly, pretty silly. Yes the 2060 super is a Gen 3. But part of your upgrade to a 3060 or 4060 is moving to Gen 4. Its part of step forward and a signifgant one at that. Its why the 3060 performs so well. If it was a Gen 3 card even with its available resources it'd lose (and it does in your benchmarks) a sizeable chunk of its performance and effeciency. If you're still runiing a motherboard thats Gen 3 PCIe max, at that point your motherboard and CPU needs to come first along with your RAM. PCIe 3 is from 2010 and didn't even really hit till 2012. We moved from it with Gen 11 Intel and AM4. We're moving into what would be Gen 15 territory and are knee deep in AM5. PCIe 5 cards are around the corner. Its 2024. Upgrade your PCIe slot before the GPU. This video just sends all the wrong messages and a slew of misinformation.

No need to upgrade as long as the GPU you are using is still delivering a quality experience at your resolution of choice despite not scoring top spot on GPU FPS benchmarks. Once you hit a certain level of performance, extra FPS is pretty moot & just fodder for flexing the e-peen.
