I've been collecting and modifying flashlights for quite a while now. It's quite unfortunate that the end consumers have to do such mods on these consumer-grade lights in order to get rid of utterly useless features and get them to function like what we want. If you are going to implement flashy modes on a flashlight at LEAST do it in a way where it is hidden and isn't going to annoy the user like to long press the button for a few seconds or quickly press it 4 times etc. Also there's no reason to implement flashy modes on literally everything with a light. You'd laugh if i was to tell you what things I've found with these stupid flashy modes. They'll put them on anything wit an LED. They are willing to put them on s*x toys if they could 🤣 In the end you are far better buying a proper flashlight from a brand like sofirn wurkkos or acebeam. Even olight is a good option but is more expensive for no reason. I personally don't like these consumer-grade consumer targeted flashlights but they have their uses i guess.

There are some differences that make it not conmpatible, but also not impossible. If you used a 647 long block, but retained the 612 injectors and harness it might work. The egr is different, but i think people that put the newer intake on the 612 just plug the 647 egr in and have no problems. The other issue is the lift pump. With the 647 it is electronic and in the fuel tank, 612 is mechanical and on the front of the engine. If you got a killer deal on a 647 I would try it. Use the entire front timing cover and mechanical lift pump off the 612, as well as the 612 injectors. If you have both side by side and take good notes I have to think it would work. You can only put a 647 head onto a 612 short block, due to valve sizes. a 612 head on a 647 block would contact because of the smaller cutouts in the pistons.

@@Anthonysaldarriaga-v3h Best of luck. Send me a message if anything comes up. I would also use your 612 fuel rail, but upgrade to the 647 flex plate. They are less prone to cracks. Also a great time to replace the harmonic damper. If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know. Really just put as many of the 612 parts on as you can. Same with the turbo, you need to keep the 612 turbo since it's vacuum actuated and the 647 is electric.

I haven't had to yet, but it is on my list. I have a code now for the map based part. The thermostat has a small section that is basically heated by the ecu to add preload to the spring. It runs hotter on purpose if it thinks you are just cruising on the highway to get better mpg. If you have that same code, you can still drive it. I'm not sure when I'll do mine, butt you can get the factory manuals from Audi pretty cheap. Https://erwin.audiusa.com You can download as much as you want with a 24 hour pass.

I don't remember if I bothered with a leakdown test after checking compression. If you remove the spark plug, you should be able to see the exhaust valve with a flashlight through the hole. It should be full open at TDC on one rotation, and full closed on the next TDC. If it's stuck like mine were, it will just stay open all the time.

@johnkreiner7842 Hey, any progress is good news! You could try ZEP degreaser, I've had good results cleaning diesel grime with it. Other wise heat will help since it now runs a bit. Your arm skin will disagree, but it might be worth getting it nice and hot, then keep trying to work the valve up and down with solvent. At some point, removing the head to get the valve out for service will just end up being the answer. Hopefully it isn't bent any.

If you are interested in disabling the swirl flaps or getting a tune, I would highly recommend Malone. They have great customer service, and everything runs smoothly. Of course, make sure anything you do is legal where you live 😀

Great Video ! Just purchased a 2011 3.0 tdi Q7 and im getting a smell of emissions/unburnt fuel smell in the cab... I cant hear any "Chuffing" as if to point to an injector seal but its worth a look. Weirdly though (twice in 2 weeks) i have had alot of smoke coming out of the engine bay after driving for 4 or 5 miles but then it clears after a couple of minutes... dont know much about EGR valves but im wondering if this could be happening when the egr opens / closes 🤔🤷♂️

I would highly suspect an injector leak. Be sure to look underneath the head where the weep holes are. You could also just have a fuel leak somewhere. Also, check the flex bellows under the turbo, mine were cracked. That was replaced at the dealer since it was still under the emissions warranty at the time.

I've never bothered trying to clamp the rack, the gear is usually strong enough to deal with Install torque. Inner tie rod is 100Nm, ball joint on the outer tie rod is 90Nm.

Going into a no go zone, failing to avoid the obstacles with it's ultra sonic sensors and camera, and then not notifying you is like a triple non starter for me. Any one of those things alone is enough for me to hold off. Unfortunately, based on the traffic in the community and social media forums, this is not atypical behavior with the current state of software. Lots of complaints about how bad it is now vs how good it used to be.

Fortunately, I'm really stubborn and will keep at it. I deleted my whole map after this first mow and made more zones. Changed the swing set area, added a path across the driveway. I think I have a learning curve as to how to best use the thing. I'll keep updating how things go, hope you stick around! I'm always up for suggestions or can test anything out you want to see with the mower.

Great follow-up video, thanks for posting - It is encouraging that you are still happy with the luba - From the looks of it, you got a pretty good result with the front yard, and the side of the house, those long straight lines looks great. The situation with getting stuck in the play-area may be a little concerning, but if I heard you correctly you did not set up the nogo-zone correctly for that area? One of the things holding me back from getting one, is the fear of not being able to get a proper signal on all sides of the house - I dont really have an ideal "high" place to mount the RTK antenna, I've been all over the exterior, and it just wont do - I hope maybe I can get away with setting it up on the attic, not ideal nor recommended, if that fails I'll have to use the supplied pole and set it up somewhere in the garden, knowing that's probably going to cause all kinds of problems with gps signal on all sides of the house. Looking forward to your next update :) Thanks again, great info so far!

I'm 99% sure it pivoted to get the bumper stuck like that. I redid the rest of my zones tonight and made the swing and sandbox all no-go. My zero turn is 61" so I always had to weed eat that spot anyway. For the GPS I haven't had issues with it mounted ground level so far. It doesn't need line of sight to the mower, just clear sky above it. I did put it in the front yard since that is where all my tree cover is, in the backyard it's all open and has been fine.

Former OM-611 owner and now current OM-646 owner I tell you these Mercedes Diesels are awesome. Only negative is EGR 🤬, and OM-611 had swirl-flaps which kept getting damaged.

The orange kit was random off Amazon, Tacklife was the brand. I don't see them available anymore, but there is likely a copy under a different brand. I have a Bosch SDMSD40 kit that is nice, but not as many bits. I also have this craftsman: www.sears.com/craftsman-42-piece-bit-and-torx-bit-socket-wrench-set/p-00999941000P It's a bit bulkier, but has almost everything I need for my van and the E type bits (reverse torx?).

well described procedures... I would add a couple things.. To push out the caliper spring clip rod/bolt, just get a long punch of the rods diameters. On the rear caliper setup you did the main pads but your E-brake is drum setup with the pads inside the rotor so you should remove the rear caliper & rotor to inspect / replace the inner drum pads.. I installed the 2011 18Z Brembo calipers front & rear onto my 2005 allroad.. Due to the 25 offset of the allroad the Q7 rotors will not work so the answer ( for my C5 ) is Mercedes CLA 45 AMG 350mm rotors up front & B8 Audi S4/S5 330mm rear rotors. Since the E-brake of the Q7 is not retrofittable to my C5 I needed to install a bracket to mount both the 4 piston caliper & the E-brake caliper ( Willwood MC4 ).. I wrote up a DIY in Audizine in the C5 section outlining the process & details of how to install the Q7 brake system onto an older C5 Audi .....Cheers...

Pull it right down on top of the van! That's how everything seems to be going lately! Those pines made a good comeback. All 6 had fungus, and almost no needles left. I had to cut one down, but yearly treatments kept the new growth from getting infected. $$ well spent for some nice big trees.

The part I put the bolts through that the seats click into? Those are the factory Ford Transit seat mounts. Some of the used Transit seats come with them, otherwise they can be found on ebay for $60-70 each.

The OG engine for this van spun a main at 320k miles, I got another van from a shop for $600 and used that short block, 260k miles on it. That's the bottom side that failed here. WIsh I had a line on a crank, butt looks like I'll juust find another beater van and see what I can slap together.

What are the 4 pistons on the pad itself do ? im a bit confused because caliper doesnt press it i assume ?

Front caliper is 6 pistons, 3 per side.. All three pistons are different dimeters.. The smallest is the first to contact the rotating rotor when pressed. its sized differently for het dissipation & piston efficiency. In the rear I believe they are both on each side the same size.. But all of the pistons in front & rear calipers press onto the rotor surface... If they dont than likely one piston is seized..

My Dodgecedes RV requires the replacement of a sensor EVERY time we go on a trip. It’s a 2009 so it says Mercedes on the front and Dodge on the side….oh, and it’s a 4wd so the whole front end is Ford. Poor thing has no idea how to identify

I've been collecting and modifying flashlights for quite a while now. It's quite unfortunate that the end consumers have to do such mods on these consumer-grade lights in order to get rid of utterly useless features and get them to function like what we want. If you are going to implement flashy modes on a flashlight at LEAST do it in a way where it is hidden and isn't going to annoy the user like to long press the button for a few seconds or quickly press it 4 times etc. Also there's no reason to implement flashy modes on literally everything with a light. You'd laugh if i was to tell you what things I've found with these stupid flashy modes. They'll put them on anything wit an LED. They are willing to put them on s*x toys if they could 🤣 In the end you are far better buying a proper flashlight from a brand like sofirn wurkkos or acebeam. Even olight is a good option but is more expensive for no reason. I personally don't like these consumer-grade consumer targeted flashlights but they have their uses i guess.

There are some differences that make it not conmpatible, but also not impossible. If you used a 647 long block, but retained the 612 injectors and harness it might work. The egr is different, but i think people that put the newer intake on the 612 just plug the 647 egr in and have no problems. The other issue is the lift pump. With the 647 it is electronic and in the fuel tank, 612 is mechanical and on the front of the engine. If you got a killer deal on a 647 I would try it. Use the entire front timing cover and mechanical lift pump off the 612, as well as the 612 injectors. If you have both side by side and take good notes I have to think it would work. You can only put a 647 head onto a 612 short block, due to valve sizes. a 612 head on a 647 block would contact because of the smaller cutouts in the pistons.

@@Anthonysaldarriaga-v3h Best of luck. Send me a message if anything comes up. I would also use your 612 fuel rail, but upgrade to the 647 flex plate. They are less prone to cracks. Also a great time to replace the harmonic damper. If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know. Really just put as many of the 612 parts on as you can. Same with the turbo, you need to keep the 612 turbo since it's vacuum actuated and the 647 is electric.

How do you replace the thermostat
I haven't had to yet, but it is on my list. I have a code now for the map based part. The thermostat has a small section that is basically heated by the ecu to add preload to the spring. It runs hotter on purpose if it thinks you are just cruising on the highway to get better mpg. If you have that same code, you can still drive it. I'm not sure when I'll do mine, butt you can get the factory manuals from Audi pretty cheap. Https://erwin.audiusa.com You can download as much as you want with a 24 hour pass.

Were you getting a leak down on #3 or just no compression? Im having exact same problem.
I don't remember if I bothered with a leakdown test after checking compression. If you remove the spark plug, you should be able to see the exhaust valve with a flashlight through the hole. It should be full open at TDC on one rotation, and full closed on the next TDC. If it's stuck like mine were, it will just stay open all the time.
Ill check tomorrow. I finished adjusting the intake and exhaust valves. All but#1 cyl were so tight couldn't get the gauge in.
My #3 and 4 were like yours pull the plug and no change. Fingers crossed adjusting the valves will get this thing back where it needs to be

@johnkreiner7842 Hey, any progress is good news! You could try ZEP degreaser, I've had good results cleaning diesel grime with it. Other wise heat will help since it now runs a bit. Your arm skin will disagree, but it might be worth getting it nice and hot, then keep trying to work the valve up and down with solvent. At some point, removing the head to get the valve out for service will just end up being the answer. Hopefully it isn't bent any.

If you are interested in disabling the swirl flaps or getting a tune, I would highly recommend Malone. They have great customer service, and everything runs smoothly. Of course, make sure anything you do is legal where you live 😀
Great Video ! Just purchased a 2011 3.0 tdi Q7 and im getting a smell of emissions/unburnt fuel smell in the cab... I cant hear any "Chuffing" as if to point to an injector seal but its worth a look. Weirdly though (twice in 2 weeks) i have had alot of smoke coming out of the engine bay after driving for 4 or 5 miles but then it clears after a couple of minutes... dont know much about EGR valves but im wondering if this could be happening when the egr opens / closes 🤔🤷♂️
I would highly suspect an injector leak. Be sure to look underneath the head where the weep holes are. You could also just have a fuel leak somewhere. Also, check the flex bellows under the turbo, mine were cracked. That was replaced at the dealer since it was still under the emissions warranty at the time.
At 17:20 how much torque is needed to mount the inner tie rod to the steering rack? And how do you clamp the steering rack shaft from turning? Great videos btw!
I've never bothered trying to clamp the rack, the gear is usually strong enough to deal with Install torque. Inner tie rod is 100Nm, ball joint on the outer tie rod is 90Nm.

Going into a no go zone, failing to avoid the obstacles with it's ultra sonic sensors and camera, and then not notifying you is like a triple non starter for me. Any one of those things alone is enough for me to hold off. Unfortunately, based on the traffic in the community and social media forums, this is not atypical behavior with the current state of software. Lots of complaints about how bad it is now vs how good it used to be.
Fortunately, I'm really stubborn and will keep at it. I deleted my whole map after this first mow and made more zones. Changed the swing set area, added a path across the driveway. I think I have a learning curve as to how to best use the thing. I'll keep updating how things go, hope you stick around! I'm always up for suggestions or can test anything out you want to see with the mower.

Great follow-up video, thanks for posting - It is encouraging that you are still happy with the luba - From the looks of it, you got a pretty good result with the front yard, and the side of the house, those long straight lines looks great. The situation with getting stuck in the play-area may be a little concerning, but if I heard you correctly you did not set up the nogo-zone correctly for that area? One of the things holding me back from getting one, is the fear of not being able to get a proper signal on all sides of the house - I dont really have an ideal "high" place to mount the RTK antenna, I've been all over the exterior, and it just wont do - I hope maybe I can get away with setting it up on the attic, not ideal nor recommended, if that fails I'll have to use the supplied pole and set it up somewhere in the garden, knowing that's probably going to cause all kinds of problems with gps signal on all sides of the house. I'm 99% sure it pivoted to get the bumper stuck like that. I redid the rest of my zones tonight and made the swing and sandbox all no-go. My zero turn is 61" so I always had to weed eat that spot anyway. For the GPS I haven't had issues with it mounted ground level so far. It doesn't need line of sight to the mower, just clear sky above it. I did put it in the front yard since that is where all my tree cover is, in the backyard it's all open and has been fine.

Former OM-611 owner and now current OM-646 owner I tell you these Mercedes Diesels are awesome. Only negative is EGR 🤬, and OM-611 had swirl-flaps which kept getting damaged.
I have a secret formula to make them spin bearings. Not sure what it is yet, maybe I'm winning the neglected engine lottery 😆. The van I'm patching up now was cheaper than a running engine, so we'll see how long it makes it!

The orange kit was random off Amazon, Tacklife was the brand. I don't see them available anymore, but there is likely a copy under a different brand. I have a Bosch SDMSD40 kit that is nice, but not as many bits. I also have this craftsman: www.sears.com/craftsman-42-piece-bit-and-torx-bit-socket-wrench-set/p-00999941000P It's a bit bulkier, but has almost everything I need for my van and the E type bits (reverse torx?).
well described procedures... I would add a couple things.. To push out the caliper spring clip rod/bolt, just get a long punch of the rods diameters. On the rear caliper setup you did the main pads but your E-brake is drum setup with the pads inside the rotor so you should remove the rear caliper & rotor to inspect / replace the inner drum pads.. I installed the 2011 18Z Brembo calipers front & rear onto my 2005 allroad.. Due to the 25 offset of the allroad the Q7 rotors will not work so the answer ( for my C5 ) is Mercedes CLA 45 AMG 350mm rotors up front & B8 Audi S4/S5 330mm rear rotors. Since the E-brake of the Q7 is not retrofittable to my C5 I needed to install a bracket to mount both the 4 piston caliper & the E-brake caliper ( Willwood MC4 ).. I wrote up a DIY in Audizine in the C5 section outlining the process & details of how to install the Q7 brake system onto an older C5 Audi .....Cheers...
I think I found the writeup, the one with the bright green calipers? Curious how the paint job has held up. Next pad change I will have to replace the rotors and it will be a good opportunity to clean and paint them.

Pull it right down on top of the van! That's how everything seems to be going lately! Those pines made a good comeback. All 6 had fungus, and almost no needles left. I had to cut one down, but yearly treatments kept the new growth from getting infected. $$ well spent for some nice big trees.

The part I put the bolts through that the seats click into? Those are the factory Ford Transit seat mounts. Some of the used Transit seats come with them, otherwise they can be found on ebay for $60-70 each.

The OG engine for this van spun a main at 320k miles, I got another van from a shop for $600 and used that short block, 260k miles on it. That's the bottom side that failed here. WIsh I had a line on a crank, butt looks like I'll juust find another beater van and see what I can slap together.

What are the 4 pistons on the pad itself do ? im a bit confused because caliper doesnt press it i assume ?
Front caliper is 6 pistons, 3 per side.. All three pistons are different dimeters.. The smallest is the first to contact the rotating rotor when pressed. its sized differently for het dissipation & piston efficiency. In the rear I believe they are both on each side the same size.. But all of the pistons in front & rear calipers press onto the rotor surface... If they dont than likely one piston is seized..

My Dodgecedes RV requires the replacement of a sensor EVERY time we go on a trip. It’s a 2009 so it says Mercedes on the front and Dodge on the side….oh, and it’s a 4wd so the whole front end is Ford. Poor thing has no idea how to identify
