    Hello, it has been 1 month since I bought the shoes. There are abrasions on the inner lining of the heel of my left and right shoes. Do you think this is normal? I want to return it back, but I am worried if it can be considered a user-related problem. I hope you can answer, thank you.

    In the short before this one I actually ‘demonstrated’ a couple of exercises that are great to do and are easy to perform anywhere. Wallsits, knee raises, squats, planks, calve raises are all great to do weather you’re a beginner or experienced runner. Over time you can increase sets or add weight. All these are good for injury prevention and help to make you a stronger and faster runner. Do you have a goal you are training for?

    My other bit of advice, especially if you're training for a longform race, half/marathon, triathlon or any ultramarathon is to instead of buying one pair of really good shoes. Buy 2 pairs of good quality but a touch cheaper shoes and alternate them. For my last half I bought a brand new pair of Asics, but had been training in an older pair of Mizunos. I would do all my longer runs in the Asics (including race day) and all my interval/xtraining/hill runs in the Mizunos. They were still good, just wouldnt have stood up to the whole 21ish k race without causing injury somewhere. If I did it again, Id buy two at the same price, but use them for the same alternative running. Gives the inner foam a chance to reset between getting squished underfoot again.

    My two favourite medals at the moment that i have earned are a star wars one " ran solo" which is a 5km race silver medal with a 3D image of han solo in a running pose with a water bottle in his holster instead of a blaster. A running bib on his shirt and a sweat head band in his hair. My second favourite is a two sided silver medal with glow in the dark letter saying " the were wolf trail" it was 90 km.the werewolf on the back is a magnet and when you lift it up there is a full figure silhouette of a were wolf howling at the moon.

    Appreciate you sharing the journey and your honest feedback in the update. Clearly you're disappointed but these are the moments during the journey that make the chase and accomplishment of the goal that much more rewarding. This is only a setback if you allow it to be one. Marathons present many factors out of our control. Take the wins and build from there, you proved the doctors wrong with your knee, you built up sub 20 5k speed again and you didn't quit the race when you may have wanted - building mental toughness. Keep inspiring and we're all behind you.

    Thank you so much for that. It took me a few days to get over the disappointment, but I know now that if I keep going I can get there and run the time I need to qualify for Boston. It’s just not going to happen now and I need to look forward to 2026, but I’ll get there. 👍🏻💪🏃‍♂️

    It's ok to have those feelings. You worked really hard and the weather was out of your control. It's a huge challenge to BQ and I know you will get it someday! I had a goal of a sub 1:36 10miler in March, but there was a lot of wind and rain that day. I came a couple of seconds above it and people also said something like: but you did finish and PR'ed. Yes, but that wasn't the time I trained for. Now I can look back at it and be content with it. But I was very disappointed first. Curious to see how your BQ journey will continue! For now, rest a bit, you definitly earned that!

    What you describe happening during your race is very similar to the unseasonably warm Boston Marathon this year. I held PR pace for 14 miles but had to abandon that dream in favor of ensuring that I finished the race and didn't come home empty handed. It may help to think of Boston qualification as a quest in lieu of a singular race goal. It's a massive challenge and with the right preparations will come to you on the right day. You seem to be making big strides and reducing injury exposures. A well chosen Fall race is definitely worth an attempt. Your videos are enjoyable and I know that you will succeed in your journey.

    Good luck with your upcoming marathon. You mention cramping as a big concern. I struggled with that in my first several marathons but have managed to avoid it most of my marathons recently by taking 2 electrolyte chewable tabs every 30 minutes. Even as warm as Boston was this year, I avoided the legs cramping in tough conditions. Your strategies seem to be well chosen to take a big step forward in your pursuit of a BQ.

  • @RunArnoRun
    @RunArnoRun3 ай бұрын

    Thanks. I've been trying to find out what the best way is to combine the electrolyte chewables with my Maurten gels. If I should just time it by race time or time it by when I take my gels. I've emailed Maurten and they are good with getting back with answers, but that might come in after the race.

  • @billdrinkward11

    I'm really bummed that Nike discontinued these shoes :( I own three pairs in different colors, but two of them have taken a beating from daily wear, both for running and everyday walking. These shoes are my go-to for their comfort, support, and they look fantastic, too. They're especially great for my hypermobile feet and lower back. One pair I reserve for indoor use, the other for outdoor activities, and I'm keeping the third for future wear. They're just so effortlessly comfortable! It's such a shame they won't keep making them. If Nike knew how much people with my condition and an active lifestyle rely on these shoes and marketed them accordingly, they would be doing us a huge sale. Oh, and I swapped out the original insoles for my ortholite insoles; they're another must for my hypermobile feet :D

  • @RunArnoRun
