It needs light, the right kind of light, you need to protect magentas and yellows and highlights, (so underexpose) its very beautiful with anything nature, but I've also done street and travel photography. Post is alot of work, but part of the process, and it comes near a Nikon D850-like image when you nail it. After 5 years, I know how it operates and what to expect from it, I also use a magnifying tool so I can focus in bright sunlight .. It's a tool-ish camera :-) But it makes the best nature close images I've ever seen ... it does have this tendency to mess up white balance, greenish or yellow overcast (but you can fix that easily) beautiful transition in color, also in black and white,,leica like it's better than the DP1 Merrill , haven't owned the 3... most people would rather use the Quattro series (I would love to have the Merrill 1 DSRL which has the same sensor, but hope to have one day the new APS-C or APS-H Quattro version with some nice Sigma Art lenses) - A nice alternative (in a way) would be the Canon 5DSr (color+resolution+workflow) or the Nikon D850 ... but then they are not pocketable :-)

For 12 years I used the original GRD and over the last 6 years I’ve greatly missed it but there is no way in hell I’m going to pay more than $150 for such a fragile camera. Actually, I never paid more than $125 for one and that was back when the camera was only a few years old and still had plenty of life left in it. Most of the time there are none for sale in America and every single person I know that bought from Japan for between $250 and $500 had them break within a year.

Awesome video man! Thoroughly enjoyed listening to your thoughts and I have to say I have to agree with your points. I go back and forth with camera systems as you know, including Fuji X, and I agree that I spend a lot of time looking at the Fuji settings before I shoot. Also agree about the shutter delay and the full frame look. It is real. It may not bother some people but like you said I get tired of the APS-C look at times. That said, I might take a Fuji camera with me on my next trip! 😂 You know I'm a bit of an oddball but honestly it's not for me. I might just do it for the people who've been asking me for a Fuji X video. But great content my man, as always! Keep it up! 😎📷👍

i gotta say X100 the first was the camera that got me really into photography back in 2012, when i just bored with my canon dslr. Had it for 6 years! then i got budget to try more cameras ended up with Leicas and Sigma Fp. In between that i bought many fujis just because i want to have that experience again with x100. Xt3, xe4, xs10, xe4 again, and xt5 is what ended it all. Found out, i just dont really like the film simulations most of them really not suitable with my taste, and with the modern specs i just dont like that i have to use the film sims just so i dont get the fomo lol. And the second is the size of their cameras, they’re apsc, and somehow its too big, I used mft also their size is just justified when so many fullframe sensors camera can get smaller. And now with this issue with supplies with their x100vi series is what finally ended my trust with them.

As a Fuji User I agree. Fuji do have wonderful cameras but the hype behind them has gone nuts! Before the X series of cameras were put out to market the cameras they produced were pretty dire and they have come a long way in a short space of time. I have a X-T2 and it has started to misbehave and i fear it's not long for this world. Will I get another fuji ? Probably not. I just want a small, full frame simple camera that Is simple to operate. I am one of those people who, when given a choice, goes into panic mode and I can't decide what to do. Take car parks for example. If there is a choice of parking spaces, I drive round panicking about which one to drive into. I blame my dad, he was the same. if we want to get cameras back to where they used to be i think there has to be some steps along the way. they cant reasonably be expected to go from zero to top tier film camera in one step. i think its a case of them measuring what they can feasibly achieve against where they ultimately want to end up. I had one of these cameras was impressed with pictures especially in low light then i purchased the underwater housing then purchased 2 more Still use today 2024 some of the picture's for an old 4 mega pixel are out standing. Totally useless for fast action shots but lowlight shots are just so easy to capture, you can lose almost all light and then you can go back to the light you Had 10 minutes earlier macro shots although can be tricky can produce some stunning images Forget it's 4 mega pixel and it's like a small brick once you find its capabilities you'll be surprised at the images this camera can produce. I challenged a friend to a photo shot me using the olympus c-765 and he was using a canon 40d with L series lens he was shocked at the results. This was at the bluebell railway preservation site. I still have fun using this camera so womt be getting rid anytime soon. One thing this camera is good at is if you have a load of old black and white photos of your grandparents from the 1930s you can rephotograph them and then pop them on your computer, in this respect its a little gem

I guess at least the Pentax 17 will work better than your microphone. 😛 Ok, this camera leaves something to be desired, but it is new. There is an overvaluation of the old when the reality is that no company expected their cameras to continue being used for more than 10 years (continuous consumption is the basis of capitalism). And let's be honest: old lenses are no better than current ones, in terms of polishing and coating, so they have more definition. There are second-hand cameras in good condition, but it is not unusual that in a short time you come across surprises such as shutters that begin to fail, fungus and separation on the lenses, corrosion on the metal, etc. Time is relentless. Nobody is saying that the Pentax 17 is a camera for professional use, it is a portable, small, light, casual camera, to always carry with you and, yes, with excellent modern glass optics (which surpasses the old Olympus Pen lenses). The price could be lower, it is true, but they also sell you the guarantee, that you open it and ready to take photos, there will be service and original parts for at least 10 years. And like any new project, they seek to recover the costs of development

My least used is probably my Hasselblad 500CM, although that may change with the recent acquisition of 50 and 60 mm lenses.
