    Alright, after some experimentation I think I know how these work. Short press - program remote to open/close Long press - remote only turns the light on/off Really long press - clears all remotes That would have taken a fraction of a cent in ink to add to the instructions, which isn’t much considering these are $30 a pop.

    i ripped my Kevlar belt got it caught in hood wiper and busted the belt and back window. Yes the hood was up when driving out of the garage. I can buy a new belt kit but i need a instruction video on how to measure for 7 ft door. the last belt was cut too short so i had to take few links from old belt. but now it's not feeding correctly it saggs and then tightens up.

    If your remotes and keypad arent working with these instructions, try unpluging the lift from the ceiling and plugging it back in. We had a lightning storm and I guess a surge glitched it.

    This doesn't work, the instructions for my FCT3b keypad state to push P on the opener then press PRG button then 4 digit pin and then press ENT. The video doesn't even mention the PRG button so which is it? Why does everything have to be so difficult? The technician is also less than 3 ft from the opener while programming my instructions state to be farther away than 3 feet.

    Guys, you must also be holding the program button on the remote simultaneously when pressing P. Otherwise it will not set

    I am having a maddening issue. Since everything was installed our keypad has periodically lost the ability to open the door, but could be reprogrammed. Now, in the last month it has lost the code 3 times. It, and the opener, are barely a year old. I have replaced the battery, same issue. I have reprogrammed the keypad, it works for a while, then loses the code. Somehow now it will open the door with the press of any button, but to close the door the code is required. Makes zero sense. Frankly I think this product is garbage. If I had been given a choice of product by our builder I certainly would not have picked this equipment.

    why would pressing a single digit from my pin open the garage door? Seems like only the enter button should send a radio signal.

    Probably won't help you a year later, but for future people who have this issue -- The code seems to store in the device for like 30s-1m after you enter it. So when you initially program it, and then attempt to test it, any button triggers the door to go. Any number, enter, doesn't matter -- anything will make it operate when the code is 'active'. After programming, if you wait like 1min or so, then try it, only your programmed code will make it go. I have to assume it stores the code as 'accepted' for a tiny period of time for ease of use once you enter the right code, but it ends up just being super confusing.

    I have a question I have a Hormann silent drive 5500 series garage door opener. I ordered this Hormann key pad that goes to it. I programmed it just like the instructions said to but it will only turn the light on and off when I put my code in . What would cause this to happen? The garage door will not go up or down only turn the lights on and off. Thanks Randall

    Well, I couldn't get it to take a PIN, on mine: Press the "P" Key, then (the step I needed) press the program key. Now put in the PIN and hit enter and now it works, again for me. I called the number supplied, they forwarded me to another person, they said it sounded to technical for them, so they gave a garage door company in the area, I didn't call them...

    Oh and by the way, galvanized springs also rust. They develop a white-rust appearance on the coils with time. But when they break, it's because of steel fatigue, not rust. And all springs, whether oil-tempered, galvanized, or powder-coated, should be lubed at least once a year (preferably every 3-4 months) to keep the door operating properly.

  • @alexfregosi9332
    @alexfregosi933212 жыл бұрын

    Rust IS NOT the primary cause of spring failure; metal fatigue is. Every time a garage door goes up and down, the spring steel wire flexes and with time the steel wire flexes beyond its intended point and breaks. Galvanized springs are a nice marketing gimmick but they are terrible. They tend to lose tension after installation, requiring several service calls to rewind them. I've been in the garage door industry for 32 yrs and oil tempered springs are truly the best springs out there.
