The guy in the video is from Czechia. That's absolutely not defining «Europe». In Austria, it's already different of what he says. 🤣

In every nstion of Europe you receive the final price. The US is very much capable of doing that. But call me a conspiracy theorist but i think that business owners like that they can advertise prices without tax, maxe them kook more appealing.

There is no USA vs Europe. Europe has 50+ independent countries each with their own language, history, culture, cuisine, geography etc, more than 700 million people in all, larger geographical area than the USA as well.

One reason why here in Europe tipping isn't a common practice.. its because waiters actually make a livable wage here... And receiving tips is a welcome extra, but it's not a necessity... The tip is appreciation based, not a mandatory percentage.

I knew about most of these things because I’m from Croatia but I live in America and I definitely agree with the taxing system and public bathrooms. As for the coffee it’s a bit ridiculous because Europeans don’t like to rush and love to take their time with everything and that small cup of coffee shown in the video they would probably drink in at about 30-40 minutes if not almost an hour when us Americans would drink it in like 30 seconds.

Your road quality is sooo bad, your driving habits truly outrageous :) it is part of why so many die on american roads (+45000 - that is almost 13 per 100,000 people, compared to 2-3 in Northern Europe). But it is much better to see for yourself, come to Denmark or Germany or the Netherlands if roads or public transport is where you want your eyes opened :D Oh btw, when you get your travel insurance - you are probably covered like we are in our countries - which means WHATEVER happens to you (ambulance, doctor, hospital, surgery etc.) is covered, so you can stop worrying fo a couple of weeks :D

A trip to Europe doesn't have to be expensive. Choose one country and a few places to visit in that country. Don't run a rat race through all EU countries as people from the US tend to do. For example, fly to Poland, to Krakow. You will see not only a historical place but also the set of the film Schindler's List. You will visit the nearby salt mine in Wieliczka. Then, for example, you will take a 3-hour train to Warsaw. From Warsaw, go to Toruń (the city of the astronomer Copernicus), then visit the world's largest castle in Malbork and then go to Gdańsk. This trip will take you about 2 weeks. A round-trip ticket from Chicago to Krakow costs about $700 per person. In addition, you have 3 to 4 thousand dollars for expenses for two people and you have a vacation. I don't think you'll spend all this money

I always tip like 10% and only in extrem cases when Im really dissatisfied I will leave no tip. BUT my problem with the whole tipping thing is I want to give them a little extra on top of their salary for good service I don't want to subsidize their income so they can hardly get by and the owner can penny pinch. That's why I really dislike the tipping based countries or businesses. Especially when we talk about businesses like casinos that make millions yet expect the players to tip when they finaly win so the deealers can have a fair salary. And they even want to make you feel bad about it if you don't do it I think it's disgusting. It's not me cheap it's the owners who are greedy and it's sad it's such a common practice.

  • @sadgfasdg542

    1. Why drink water if you have beer? 2. And complaining about paying a dollar for using the toilet and tipping 5 bucks? 3. The quantity of grounds used for making the coffee is about the same. It's the amount of water that makes the difference. American coffee is what I get when rinsing my cup after having my coffee.

Better roads and streets in the US? Sorry, no. I've been to California, Oregon, Washington, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Some states were better e.g. Oregon and some states were worse e.g. California. But most interstates were in a worse shape than German small roads or even our "Feldwege" (the official translation of dirt road doesn't fit as many of the ways between fields are tarmac). I once saw a video about differences in construction between US interstates and German Autobahns (night and day). Maybe you could check this out.

The tax thing is indeed stupid, but unfortunately there's a good reason for it, and it's that there's different taxes in different states, and sometimes even cities. But I do agree that the full price should also be listed, so that people can be properly informed about what things actually cost.
