I'm in remote cattle country flanking national park. 2 years in; coyotes are all around and while they fled twice when surprising them but also had a big adult look over at me without much regard (200 yards distant), even sitting down as I spoke to it. Last week I interrupted two big adults obviously just messing around by stalking up to a group of cattle with calves. Rancher reports no predation from them and they will not risk going after a calf even if it wanders off if big mammas are anywhere in sight, regardless of their distance. They SHOULD associate humans with gunfire up here; perhaps a pair that was never shot at for one took off while the other simply turned around, boldly flanking the road as I was in plain sight on the other side; bunch of Angus between. If domestic dogs, the vibe was 100% "messing around and got caught" tho #1 paused to look back a couple times and once on top of ridge. I could have shot it a dozen times with my pistol if so inclined.

I'm happy to see a common sense video about coyotes! It's not a pet but has a place in the ecosystem!

We do not have willpower and management abilities to remove the city coyotes. Nevertheless, even if a removal is temporary before another coyote moves in, our children and pets are safe for that period. Aggressive pursuing the coyotes will make them less bold and less likely to attach us.

This is NOT a trail!! Why are you showing paved walkways? What does that have to do with a trail? I would never walk this.

I am proud and extremely honored to say that I was a "Jerry's Kid", one who worked for Jerry Craig and the peregrine falcon recovery team in CO. For two season, I surveyed for new occupied nesting sites, monitored existing sites and assisted with the hacking of peregrines on Trout Creek Pass near Buena Vista. Later I hacked out osprey near Ft. Collins, and then later banded bald eagles for Jerry. The success of the peregrine program was largely because of Jerry and I can honest say that my career as it stands today, 35+ years later is all because of Jerry Craig. Every time I see a peregrine in the wild, I smile because I know the work it took to get this magnificent bird back and healthy in the wilds of CO. Thanks Jerry!

Cool story of yours, and great story all around!. I live nearby and always wonder if the Peregrine Falcons are thriving since it's clearly still a monitored area. I'm happy to hear that it's a success. Thanks.

You guys did one heck of a job! I'd never seen Peregrines in Colorado before last summer 2023. That Spring, I caught site of a new bird in my neighborhood. Very skittish of people, so you only see a flash most of the time. I heard her cry, but I thought it could be a Bluejay mimicking a Peregrine. It wasn't, it was a Peregrine, and she made a nest high in a tree across the street! She was alone the whole season, and I didn't see or hear babies, but she did keep going back to that nest high in the tree. She left over winter, but she's back now and it looks like she brought her mate with her! I got the chance to see them sitting in one of my trees, but as soon as they saw and heard me, they took off. Guess I'll have to be more stealthy if I'm ever going to get any pictures! I'm excited! The local crows seem to get along with them, which is really cool!

I dont like those above ground water draining culverts they put in are lame. The old ways of trail building were better in every way. Just my opinion.

I have seen many stories of coyotes attacking toddlers, young children and killing pets. This woman cares more about coyotes than children. If I see a coyote on my property I will kill it. I care more about my cat than coyotes.

I can't wait for this section to be completed! Currently, I'm riding the completed sections to the west and the east of the Huntsman Segment and I'm always impressed at the appearance and the awesome construction techniques used on the P2P Trail! I wouldn't be surprised to see this trail win awards when it's all done! Great work and thank you to all involved.

In my Southern California town we have had two incidents where coyotes have attacked a person's small dog while on leash and under control of the owner. They just shook it until it was dead and did not try to take the dog away. In another incident we had a mountain lion attack a woman's 35 pound dog on leash and she played tug-of-war briefly but lost and the dog was taken away.
