    I submerged it entirely in the glass pyrex for about 30 mins before brushing off the corrosion and being sure to let the "dirty/corroded" IPA drip off so that it didn't evaporate leaving the deposits in place

    does the floor board lay flat if your full size wheel is there? i know you removed it in your video, just asking in regards to the situation where you need to use your compact spare, and then put the flat full size wheel in the trunk

    I no longer own an 86 twin, but I don’t think the trunk liner would lay flat with a full size wheel in the spare well if I remember correctly.

    The boot is very nice. I don’t understand why the video doesn’t show removing the old one and installing the new one.

  • @gearswitch5692

    Sure thing, let me elaborate: I removed the shift boot assembly (plastic insert with the OEM boot attached) from the center console. I dropped the assembly off, along with my new shift knob at a local independent upholstery shop and explained what I wanted crafted. They removed the old boot and glued a newly sewn genuine Texas leather one into place on the same plastic insert. It pops right into place, same as the old one comes out, not much to show there. The purpose of this video is to show that often times quality products are not found on Amazon, eBay or from chains. They can be manufactured in struggling downtown shops for a great price and good conversation. I’m not selling any products or advertising any merch either, just trying to change hearts and minds!

    Please can you explain how you got the cover off? I have the same seat as you, and I want to pull out the foam, but I can't figure out how to get the cover off. Hey Ben, the seat cushion I had replaced it with was the same color and in better condition. I just swapped out cushion after removing the seat. I did not reupholster the cushion. have re-upholstered the driver side bolster surround on this car and several other seat bottoms on different cars. Usually the cover is held to the cushion using "hog rings." These can be cut off with wire cutter pliers and replaced with zip-ties. Take a look, go slow, and don't give up!

    I just bought a cx 5 (2020) i noticed the settings would start changing, or radio would change different channels (u could see the screen changing like someone was moving the knob) in assuming it's some sort of electrical problem? I asked the Toyota dealership & they said it needs a software update from Mazda (ever heard of this)? I'm so confused what's wrong with it.

  • @gearswitch5692
    @gearswitch56927 ай бұрын

    Hmm, it may be possible that Mazda has to do a firmware update to the infotainment system. I wouldn't think there would be a charge for that, but I would call your dealer ahead of time to ask. Some companies push out updates "over the air" but from what I've read the 2020 likely has to be updated from a usb thumb drive.

    I do appreciate the attempt, but you skip over the actual procedure for recovering the bottom cushion. I think you should let people know before they begin that the bottom seat is a full on advanced automotive upholstery procedure. This way, they can make the decision of they want to attempt this on their own or take it to a shop. I think a lot of people would remove their seats, get this torn apart then not be able to do this and have a real mess on their hands.
