All they needed was one tiny, simple word--"Pull"--written on the part you pull to open. I understand wanting to keep the design minimalist but if 80,000 people have this question, then maybe your user experience isn't perfect. To anyone who unscrewed theirs before finding this video, reply here and I'll give you the steps to put it back together. It took some time, but it's possible with some help from commenter Tom Webb below.

@@patserrato9305 Take the top off, empty out and disassemble being careful to preserve the order of the washers/little pieces. It will be easier to reengage the spring with the top off, but you'll still need pretty strong thumbs. I put it back together but turning it upside down and using the counter as leverage to keep the spring tight while screwing the top back on. Good luck!

I don't know about you, but I need a fine and consistent grind when it comes to my nutmeg. None of this gristle and chunk. The lift and deliver system is exceptional. I'll buy 3!

I think it's the 18 cm one. I bought it from Amazon. I actually have the 5.5" one however it's bigger than I thought. I warn you... It's heaaaavy! I already had a wrist injury( never lift it up with one hand). The mortar is gorgeous, shiny outside and well crafted.

I imagine this absolutely no help to either of the two people here, but to any future people with this issue: If, like me, you unscrewed the middle screw and find you can't reattach it then take the tops off anyway then screw the bottom back on. By taking off the top you will reduce the spring pressure required and make the job far easier.

@@tomwebb3081 You are right! I took off the top and held it upside down, pushing the long peg that sticks out that end down into the counter using my body weight while I carefully screwed the bottom back in. It's not an easy job but it's possible!

Are the holes the same size for all spices? Because if you shake cinnamon out of the fennel "shake" holes, i think it would all come out pretty fast.

I bought the C&M M/P, and it's a very good product. I wish the video showed one how to properly open the box the M/P came in. I couldn't figure out how to open the nice looking box. And in my frustration, I took scissors and cut one of the flap ends. After I did that, the box unfolded itself, and I found out (through reverse engineering) the proper way of opening the box. If there were directions on how to open the box properly in the first place, then I wouldn't have damaged the box. And I could have kept the box to store the M/P. The box is cardboard and it's a really nice, quality box too. Maybe I can to try to salvage the box by getting box tape and taping the box back together. But a taped up box isn't as strong and durable and attractive as a box that's intact and undamaged. My box will look like a Frankenstein's Monster box now. :(

priya sharma, Dumbass! You're turban is squeezing your brain too tight! Opening the box ain't intuitive. And there's a special way to do it. If you open it incorrectly, then you'll destroy the box, and you won't be able to re-use it store the M/P.

How to open the box that stored the M/P properly. The box is a good quality cardboard box and would be great to use in storing the M/P. But there's a trick in opening the box correctly. And the video doesn't show you this.

I've been using these two mills for two years. Now when I put mill upside down, holding by the container the milling part falls apart. The weakest part of the mill is plastic, it's worn and this is the reason. I thought this is good quality brand, what a shame! :/
