Dang, thanks for this. I have a Berkey filter but had no idea of it using aluminum to filter out the flouride.

Where is CL made and manufactured?
What are the top three water filter pitcher? Based on filtering out majority of elements in tap water?
Which of these filters removes Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) the best?
What are your thoughts on Modern Castle finding Colbalt added to thier clearly filtered water too? Is this concerning?
Am thinking of getting the beefy 52 Cup version an having a second method just for those straggler byproducts an to make up for the positive minerals that are removed just down nuts an fruits XD
Love you work! Modern Castle also found that Colbalt was added to the filtered water of CF. Bos water found silver was added. Is this not concerning? Makes it hard for me to trust a product
Please review the Alexa Pur against the Berkey.
Love you work! I see "Bos Water" tested a Pureone filter and also found Barrium has increased. Do you think this is concerning?
I am new to the water filter world lol I have hard water that is softened by salt, would any of these water filtration systems work for me? Our family currently only drinks/cooks with bottled water and I am over it!
A countertop reverse osmosis system like the Aquatru geni.us/chlQv5o will provide similar water quality to the bottled water your used to drinking (most bottled water is treated with reverse osmosis) - and RO will reduce the sodium chloride (salt) added to the water by the softener. Additionally RO provides the most broad overall contaminant reduction, so that would be my recommendation
Thank you SO much I really appreciate it!!!
Great video very informative. Love the information and love the fact that a test was done before and after I have subscribed you got me. 🎉❤
Glad you like it, thanks for the sub! Check out some of my newer videos, they're a lot better than these older ones 😉
Does Tristan plastic leach bps or bps I know it’s bps free but what about those two ?
Tritan *
Tritan is BPA/BPS free and does not leach either. This is supported by third party testing which you can read about here www.eastman.com/content/dam/eastman/corporate/en/literature/s/spmbs6158.pdf as well as an official NSF 51 certification for materials safety info.nsf.org/Certified/Food/Listings.asp?Company=79030&Standard=051
@@waterfilterguru thank you for your response! Do you know by chance if it filters microplastics as well?
Thank you for this video
My pleasure thanks for watching
Thanks for this video. Made me feel better about the Clearly Filtered Pitcher I've been using for awhile now. I was recently at an infusion and wellness center and they tested my water with some sort of stick tester and said it was contaminated. I was completely dismayed. I had just primed and changed the filter for mine. Do you know how the water is tested with these stick devices? They said mine was 161 and it was suppose to read less than 30. Sorry I do not know the name of the tester they used.
Sounds like a TDS meter - check out this video to learn all about what these do and do not measure kzread.info/dash/bejne/q3yqxruQiMy8qqw.html most importantly, a TDS meter alone will not indicate if water is healthy or not. Mineral water high in calcium and magnesium will have a high TDS reading, for example.
Have you heard that the level of cobalt is increased after filtration?
I have, did you see our lab test video? kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZ1nlc-bcZXQgLA.html
Bluevua ropot uv vs its lite version please. Especially, for nitrates the producer have not tested for those. Another thing that would probably be cool is to see how good all those systems are at 75-90% of the filter life... if that's realistic at all...
Thanks for the requests, great ideas and I appreciate your input. This really helps me prioritize what type of videos I should work on
I have one and love it
Awesome 🤙 thanks for sharing
Tucson used to have great tasting tap water. It was well water which tapped into an ancient aquifer. But, since the early 90s our primary water source came from the Central Arizona Project (CAP). It's a canal system that brings water from the Colorado River overland (and uphill) to cities and farms in southern Arizona. It is heavily treated before being piped to homes. The water tastes terrible even after using pitcher systems. What I've done for the past 5 years is to get 5 gallons of RO water from instore systems from Sprouts or Whole Foods. Five gallons is usually about three bucks. But, RO water has kind of a slight "tart" or sterile taste. So, I started using a Britta pitcher. The activated charcoal filter "mellows" out the harsh taste of the RO water. I drink a lot of just plain water. Usually around three liters a day. Taste makes a difference. I still boil pasta or make rice with tap water. But, that's about it. Thanks for the filter reviews.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
Any plans to test a Boroux system?
In the works 😉
2024 is here now is the entire system certified yet!!
Not to my knowledge
Poor quality in the last 3 years..wonder if it has anything to do with Covid supply chain disruptions/mergers. The thing smells bad, has bad carbon flakes that spill off into the water when you pour it into your glass, which then can be ingested without knowing. What is going on with their quality control? What brand is recommended over PUR?
Check out Clearly Filtered geni.us/VsUZHW1 or ZeroWater geni.us/g7NtSZ. Also did you see our water filter pitchers video? kzread.info/dash/bejne/gp-ixdxwgNKodtY.html
@@waterfilterguru Yes, I would like to know if PUR is getting a bad review lately from others..I just think the quality has gone way down.
Which would be beat on a budget?
What contaminants do you need to address?
Did you consider the apec water reverse osmosis counter top filter? Thanks!
We've not tested that one yet. When we do, it will be considered in a future update of this video!
FYI, I just noticed that the PPF951K Lead Reduction filters are back up on the PUR website and evidently back in their product line. PUR points to Amazon as a retailer for these lead filters and sure enough, they are presently in stock on the Amazon website. Unless I'm missing something, it looks like they decided to change course and continue selling these lead filters. It seems that many of us don't mind the long filtering time so long it gets the lead out (Pro Tip: get a second pitcher). The only remaining downside is that the coupons PUR previously issued, don't appear to include a discount for the lead reduction filters. I hope PUR changes this and includes lead reduction filters in their future coupon promotions.
Appreciate the MSR Guardian video. Per your request, please add these two filters to your list to test and make a video about: 1) Wayfarer Water Purifier 2) Survivor Filter Pro
Thanks for the request!
Thanks!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful
This is really great to hear as I own 1
Glad it was helpful
Hello, does the clearly filter remove micro plastics? Thanks
Their lab test data shows >99.99% microplastic reducing, but I was not able to independently verify this, as my test did not include microplastics.
Clean the resin your self add some fresh carbon on top of it. It takes time but is satisfying.
Out of curiosity, what resin cleaner are you using to do this?
@@waterfilterguru I'm not using a cleaner. I use asid to clean, salt to separate. Naoh to charge the low mass resin and hcl to charge the other part. 10% solitions. There are proberbly better methods. I clean in tap water. I do not waist clean water cleaning. My recharged filters go 0 ppm right away. The duration is shorter as for now. The process takes time to refine. People are so happy about their alkaline high ppm tap water, but no concern of substance. Ad hcl to used resin and se what happens. It's bubbling for several minute's. Yes.. humans are filters if not drinking clean/0ppm/rain water as birds and other animals. We need organic bound minerals from food's. Not dirty water from way down. When you find out ppm and ph of rain water.... one really realize how stupid we are, believing earth water as anything good. It's pollution of the body. The bottled water in stores here are 85ppm and above. Rain 0, a puddle about 50, running water about 120, a lake about the same. Deep earth water here about 200 plus the dirt from plumbing. 215-250. Thats a great amount of solids for the liver and testis to proces every day.
Thank you! That was way easier than the other videos!
Glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback
I found it makes the water have a really weird sour taste.
That typically means the filter is reaching capacity, towards the end of it's life. Do you experience this even with a new filter?
@@waterfilterguru it started a few pitchers in. The first few fills tasted great.
What did the TDS meter reader when the change in taste started occuring?
@@waterfilterguru that's a great question. It was a few years back, so my memory is a little hazy (except I remember the weird lemony taste). I think it was still reading pretty close to zero. This was city water in Houston, so it was not the best to start with, for sure.
@@rob6850 Gotcha. So what you describe, the "lemony" taste, indicates that ion exchange resin is close to or has already reached capacity, meaning it's depleted. ZeroWater filters are notorious for reaching capacity quickly, and the more contaminated the water, the quicker that will happen.
Hello did you test British Bekerfeld filters? made by Doulton?
We have not yet
Do you know of i can use kust the pro filter on a 100-200 dollar gravity filter?
Are you asking if ProOne filters are compatible with other stainless steel gravity vessels, like Berkey or similar?
@@waterfilterguru hi and yes. If u have a video drop a link so I can contribute a watch
@@samaelmartinus3273 I don't have a video, and honestly I haven't personally tried swapping filters to verify compatibility. That said, all the filter stems and holes in the steel vessels themselves are relatively the same size, if not the exact same size so I'd be fairly confident they are interchangeable. I'll test it out and make a video about it with the 5 units I have
@@waterfilterguru ok thanks, I'm subbed so I'll be looking forward to the watch my friend. Have a good day. HMD
Thoughts on this I am running my tap water through two Brita Elite filter pitchers then taking that water and filling my Waterdrop K19 countertop system with it. It’s easier to fill the system this way and I feel like I am taking less stress off of the RO system. In my opinion the water tastes way better than just putting the tap water into the RO system. Would love to here your thoughts on this and maybe make a video seeing if it makes a difference in the lab testing by combining the systems together? Thanks!
Doing that should serve to extend the life of the carbon pre-filter in the RO unit, as they will reduce some of the contaminants that the carbon filter otherwise would. I made a similar video about doing this with water filter pitchers alone kzread.info/dash/bejne/eq16yatyicu7dso.html
You’re going to tell us, so not a secret, lets use the ultra douchey, “it’s a secret” cringe face like every lemming moron on YT. 😂
Hi i have the black berkey filter and was just wondering what was the tds of the black filter most specificly if it was below 100ppm?
TDS alone is not a good measurement of whether or not water is healthy, or if a water filter like this is performing. The Berkey filters are not capable of reducing TDS. Check out this video to learn all about what TDS is and what TDS meters do and do not measure kzread.info/dash/bejne/q3yqxruQiMy8qqw.html
I have arsenic in the water source. Does the water drop eliminate arsenic?
Yes it will reduce arsenic, reverse osmosis is one of the best treatments for arsenic
Hi , do you know or did already tested the Brita system with cartridge P100 under the sink with a dedicated tap? Thx
I have not tested that one yet. But being Brita, it is most likely certified for some contaminant reduction. You can cross reference those certifications with your contaminants of concern.
Sorry, ich habe noch eine Frage. Ich habe zusätzlich eine Stainless Steel Berkey Water View Spigot bestellt. Weißt du, wie ich den Blue float ball in den Sleeve with glass tube reinbekomme? // Sorry, I have a another question. I also ordered a stainless steel Berkey Water View faucet. Do you know how I can get the blue float ball into the glass tube?
I don't have personal experience with the Berkey sight glass spigot - it's odd that the float ball wouldn't already be inside. Did it come with an instruction manual?
Also nachbestellt. Freue mich dann, dein Video nochmals zu sehen. // Very good instructions, thank you very much. Now unfortunately I couldn't install my Big Berkey completely because I can't clean the batteries without a priming pump (German taps are not really compatible for cleaning). So reordered. Looking forward to watching your video again then.
Sorry for any misunderstanding, but do you mean you were unable to prime the filter elements?
for my area, the things exceeding EWG are Chromium (hexavalent), Haloacetic acids (HAA9)†, and Total trihalomethanes (TTHMs)†. any recommended water filters?? I live in Hawaii

so what's your top 3 for villa and kitchen? appreciate your help. I would like to have pure water.
It all depends on what's in your water. Have you had it tested by a certified lab yet?
@@waterfilterguru no ofc so what's safest way to add new filter? I'm thinking to add 1 for kitchen and taste water if it's better I'll keep it
@@salehabdulla9177 Check out the video again about finding out what's in your water starting at 0:30 This is the first step to take before buying any water filter - without knowing what's in there you may or many not end up buying something capable of addressing the issues at hand. @@waterfilterguru EEEH I WON'T
Can you please test The Water Machine I just bought it and I’m afraid I just wasted my money. What’s the point of buying a filter if they are just going to add aluminum to it
Thanks for your request, we've got the water machine on the to-do list. What makes you afraid you wasted your money, exactly? Have you experienced an issue?
@@waterfilterguru I haven’t got it yet I just ordered it yesterday. I’m just afraid it uses similar filters cause they compared themselves to a berkey. Hoping I made a good choice I followed you so I can watch the video when you post it. Thanks!
@@AustinReed-dl9pp Keep me posted, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I will say, it looks like they are promoting that it can be used with microbiologically unsafe water - I highly suggest not doing that. If you want to filter water that might have bacteria, parasites, etc. Always properly disinfect it first. These filters alone will not provide sufficient protection, and the manufacturer claiming they will is misleading.
@@waterfilterguru good to know. But no, I just want to fill it up with tapwater. Hopefully their claims on filtering out everything in tapwater is true. Apparently the owner of the company started it because they used to be a sales rep for berkey and didn’t like the metal containers cause they would rust over time so they made all glass ones instead.
What kinds of prices are people seeing/using for water testing services? If the testing is expensive enough, it could make sense to just choose a robust system and go. Our surface water reports have been consistently good, but we want to play things safe. Our TDS at the tap is 70 to 80. I'm too risk averse to direct plumbing RO and risking a flood, so we're going with a countertop RO, the APEC ROCT-plus (family really wanted instant hot feature). I've seen hardly any information about that compared to, say, Waterdrop, so I'm probably going to record a little video after I get it to share the info with other folks. Before this, we used Brita for the taste and Zerowater too.
I always recommend using data to guide your purchase decision - lab testing data is the only way to get the full picture of the water quality. If lab testing is out of budget, you can use your water provider's consumer confidence report (CCR) as a starting point, but it won't provide the full picture of how the water is at your home since testing for these reports is done at the treatment facility before the water enters the distribution system where it can become recontaminated. Additionally, TDS can be a good indicator to water quality, but a TDS reading alone will not tell you if water is safe and healthy or not. For example, some impurities that contribute to TDS (calcium and magnesium) are actually healthy for us to consume, while others (like PFAs) are not detected by a TDS meter at all. This video explains all about what TDS meters do and do not measure kzread.info/dash/bejne/q3yqxruQiMy8qqw.html
Have you checked out Aquasana? I was looking at getting that one and then came across your video. Just wondering if you have any experience with it
Assuming you are referencing the Aquasana whole house systems here, we have not. (they have many point of use systems as well)
Which is the best pre-filter for chloroform??
