Amazing that Dick Johnson's Falcon dominated in 1981, but went 2 laps down to the HDT Commodore a year later. As Brock said at Goodwood "They're quite a light car with a pretty lively V8".
@@melbguy1 as Peter Brock and Larry Perkins would go on to win the 1982 Bathurst 1000.
BROCK made all the homologation upgrades for Holden and the other teams didn’t always get the new parts until after Bathurst , according to to other Holden drivers. An interesting fact is Peter BROCK was disqualified for 6 ATCC RACES FOR CHEATING With illegal parts. That Cams official was moved on.
@@BruceLee-sw4ms I read a story by a guy who bought a modified car from Peter Brock. The guy who bought the car said he trusted Brock and his speal about the car. But soon after buying it, the engine crapped out and had to be replaced. It seems Brock bolted a massive turbo to the engine which basically destroyed the engine. I'd guess that's why Brock put it up for sale, as he knew it was going to need an engine rebuild/replacement. Man what a piece of work.

Ah the beloved fake 1 2 finish where bond was told to SLOW DOWN to form up for the cameras. In later years he expressed his disgust at that decision and Moffat continued with his arrogant self centered bs that he reminded bond that HE PAYED THE BILLS insinuating that he’d do what he was told. Karma would prevail the following year when the outdated dinosaur falcons were DESTROYED by a far superior A9X Torana. And then the icing on the cake was 79 when Moffat AND bond were beaten at sandown and DECIMATED by 6 laps. The first ford over the line was in 25th position as they fell to pieces under the relentless pressure from Brock and Richards lap times. Brock’s last lap time in 79 was not beaten until 1983 by Alan grice in a VH group C commodore cementing the A9X as the greatest touring car of all time. No argument the results are there forever. Furthermore the REAL 1 2 finish was BROCK PARSONS in the MALBORO VKs where they finished in the CORRECT positions as they crossed the line.
@@ToranaA9X308 Colin Bond has mentioned that in a few interviews and in 1979 Peter Brock and Jim Richards won by 6 laps unbelievable.
@ToranaA9X308 Fanboi, much? I mean, here we have your "far superior" A9X being totally crushed in 1977 by both of the Moffat Ford Dealer entries, in what became the most famous 1-2 finish in Bathurst history! Yet all you appear capable of is stooping to decry and denigrate what was an overwhelming 2-car team victory by instigator Moffat and Bond etc - whilst you prance on about a separate event in '78. How do you spell 'pathetic'? Btw I attended this 1977 race trackside, did you?
@@timx3680 Most famous finish 😂😂😂😂 in 77 the A9Xs were still being developed stooge while the ford shit heaps dated back to the 60s as far as suspension and steering and rubbish brakes. You must be a little dull or didn’t read what I wrote about the FAKE finish which would’ve been a 2 1 if moffat didn’t stage it. Ford flops always remember the fake finish but never the absolute FLOGGINGS they got for year after year by toranas and commodores. Does being there in 77 make you a superstar ? Who gives a shit. I was there in 75 when Brock driving an L34 with virtually no backing at all beat all the ford teams including Moffat who had factory backing. Go cry some salt over the hang ten 400 at sandown where Moffat was thrashed and let’s not forget the beloved COOOOBRAS that were mercilessly decimated at sandown and totally EMBARRASSED at Bathurst by 6 laps.
That was then this is now, never going to see an Australian car win a race ever again.Get over it.

V8 supercars have had a chequered broadcasting timeline in FTA - firstly with seven with it's great innovation at the time racecam which they invented, then it went to 10 , then back to 7 and then went to 10 again and once again back to 7 in subsquent years. The later years having with FTA partnering with fox sports as it broadcast partner in simulcast. I wonder if the streaming services will make a bid for V8's in the supercars agreement when it comes for negotiation. My money would be on Stan Sports making a bid because they have a great deal of motorsport content on their streaming sports channel.
