I’m an orchid lover from Hawaii, born and raised on the island of Oahu. My mom gave me my first Honohono orchid in 2019 which soon turned into a full blown orchid obsession 😍! It’s been an amazing journey so far and I’ve met some amazing people who share my passion for orchids. I started my channel to share my orchid experiences with all of you and to learn from those who are far more experienced than I am with these amazing orchids! I also love sharing the beauty and history of these Hawaiian Islands that I proudly call my home. I hope you enjoy watching my videos and I welcome your comments. Live Aloha 🤙🏽☀️🌴🌊🌈

OMG what they feed those plants to be like that, with those bunch of beautiful flowers, what's the secret formula, please I want it. 😢
Kelly what a show. Thank you for taking your viewers along for the flight over and stunning displays. We are waiting to view part two and see what you may have purchased to add to your private collection. Respectfully,

Wow, what a beautiful show! ❤ SO many beautiful blooms…. Stunning. Thank you for sharing 🎊
Hi Kelly, talk about being overwhelmed, I was. Have some really different orchids than here, can’t wait to see ur haul. I had quite a few picked out😂 of course. Fantastic orchid show, wish I could have gone. Thank you,🤙🏻💞💞💞
@@lindagrabner4186 Aloha Linda! Yes there were several I had never seen before and I watch a lot of orchid videos 😂 It was really a great show! So many beautiful orchids 🥰Maybe you’ll make it to next years show 😉 Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽
Hi Kelly. Most of the plant vendors at this show were wholesale only. I posted a comment yesterday letting your viewers know how they could buy the plants. I don’t see my comment this morning. Did it break some rule that got it deleted? If it did, I apologize. Either way, the members of the Kona Orchid Society thank you for doing such a beautiful job of showcasing this show.
@@user-oh9ud1ii5r Aloha Stacy! I didn’t see that comment either. Would you like to try posting another one? I don’t think KZread automatically deletes comments but you’re welcome to try again. It was my pleasure recording the show 🥰 Being around beautiful orchids makes me feel like a kid in a candy store 😂 I’m happy that I’ve been seeing more local viewers. I actually met a few at the show and one drove over from Kona, her name is Loretta. I’m looking forward to next year! Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽
Oh good!!! I know how badly people want these Wholesale-only plants. I’ll post it on its own so it doesn’t get buried.
@@user-oh9ud1ii5r Hi Stacy did you post the comment again? If so I still don’t see it. Are you posting the same as your comments? I’m not sure why it wouldn’t post. Maybe you can send me the info and I can include it in my next video? If you have instagram you can leave me a message on there.

Hi Kelly, good to put a face to your name. What a great show. Some of those growers had amazing plants. Like you said so many I hadn't seen before too. Definitely one of the best displays I've seen on youtube so far and I've watched quite a few. also fascinating to see two completely different cattleya mini purples, there's one at 32:44 and a completely different looking one at 45:14 Hope you found some good ones to add to your collection
@@tomfurmby88 Aloha Tom! Lol yeah I gave everyone a quick Shaka 🤙🏽 Anyways this show was amazing 😍 There were several orchids I had never heard of before and yes I also noticed that about the two mini purple cattleya. I did get a few to add to my collection and I’ll be doing a haul video soon. Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽
17:07 Bulbophyllum barbigerum was one of my first mounted orchids, but I accidently cut it off the mount while trimming the roots and then the bulb rotted. The lip moves in the wind and it's from Central/West Africa. 20:31 First time for me to see a Cynorkis. 🤔
@@Joe-nj3bb Aloha Joe! Yes I seen the lip moving in my video, that was cool! Sorry that you lost yours. Makes me sad when I lose any of my orchids. There were several orchids I had never heard of before and that cynorkis was one of them. I just had to google it 😂 Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽

Hi Kelly! What a great place to visit. I love the stone sculptures in the beginning. Great incorporating with the botanical surroundings. I would have loved to be there during the ripe moments of the corpses flower. We have one here at Fairchilds Botanical Gardens. The cattleyas are out of this world. I noticed they’re all indoors. I’ve learned the key to healthy Cattleyas is to control the water. Outdoors too much rain can immediately rot them. I loved the giant leopard Grammatophyllum. The grams do so well there. Conservatories are best for orchids. The giant tree is also known as an elephant foot tree. Great video. 💚
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place. Searching for a sea turtle is a bit of fun. You look and look, they are so quick in the water you think you have imagined them. 🐢🐢🐢
This has been a great trip to share with us, it's such a beautiful place, you must feel privileged to live on Oahu. Watching the sea turtles was so mesmerising, I had to rewind and watch again. Thank you for taking us along with you, I very much enjoyed seeing the island.
Beautiful Botanical Garden, wow some of those Orchids are out of this World, Thank you Kelly for the wonderful visit.😊
Aloha that was really special thank you The sea turtles 🐢 were awesome 🤙
Thank you for sharing this! I am raising some cattleyas that I took out of a flask in March. They are doing okay but they don't look nearly as nice as those from Akatsuka! Wow, I wanted to pickle those in sugar and vinegar and have them for my next BBQ! 😂 Mine won't bloom as soon as Jeremy's, and I'm sure I will have a greater percentage of loss. Really good to pick up on things I might have done differently. I was afraid to get rid of the agar completely, for instance, and I definitely don't have them in the shade. Very cool to see.
OMG, what a beautiful place, and the orchids growing between the foliage makes it more tropical. Kelly, I want the same ones you do, my god , they were beautiful. Think Jeremy would have some of these? That tree, wonder how old it is? Thank you for a great tour.😍😍😍😍
@@lindagrabner4186 Aloha Linda! The guy who owns most of these orchids has a private nursery in Waimanalo. But I was told he sells at a farmers market every first Saturday of the month. So next week Saturday I plan on paying him a visit 😂 I don’t think Jeremy has any of these but I am going to the Hilo Orchid Show tomorrow so if I see any I’ll let you know. A lot of the vendors that will be there do ship so that’ll work. And that tree must be at least 100 years old right? It was massive! Glad you enjoyed the video and I’ll update you soon. Aloha 🤙🏽

I’ve been there and it is really different from the touristy places, loved it. Parking was not an easy task. I did see the turtles, and love the sound of the crashing waves. Thank you for a great memory place for me. ❤️❤️❤️
@@lindagrabner4186 Aloha Linda! Aww I’m glad this brought back memories for you. Yes parking can be tough, especially on the weekend. The turtles were so cool to see, I was hoping they’d come out of the water. But I’m glad you were able to see them in the video. Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽
I have the Rustic Spots orchid from Akatsuka, but I guess it's originally from H&R? Alot of my cattleyas have Brassovola Nodosa in their parentage. The tap water here in Connecticut after using a Brita water filter is 90ppm. I want to start collecting rain water, but I'm worried about bugs and bacteria. Bottled water might be too expensive, but I watered some of my orchids with organic coconut water a couple of weeks ago. 😆 I could probably flush the pot with bottled water once a month though. 🤔 I always see the Roy Tokunaga Dendrobium on Nelson's channel when he goes to orchid shows. 52:55 Interesting way to keep the flowers by cutting the cane, but the audience was like 😱🫣
This year I placed my first online orders for cattleyas and Akatsuka was one of the places I ordered from. They have really nice size cattleyas with readonable prices. Rlc. Kalim Smith's Kahelelani 'Volcano Queen' - Fragrant Pink/Yellow Lip Bc. Rustic Spots 'H&R' Rlc. Waianae Starburst 'Volcano Queen' - Fragrant Orange Blooms Walmart is still a better place to get macadamia nuts as a souvenir. 😁
How did these end up doing? 🤔 I got my first three cattleyas when I saw them at Lowe's for $15 each last year. Only one survived but it's doing really well. They were available at two locations and none were in bloom.
15:39 Used Google Lens to try to identify it and it may be the Rlc. Memoria Charles Mitamura 'Kaleidoscope.' 21:26 Laelia tenebrosa 30:09 Maybe its some kind of amethystoglossa because of the spotting on the petals.
@@Joe-nj3bb Mahalo Joe! I’ll make sure to google those names. I’m going to the Hilo Orchid Show tomorrow so I’m hoping I’ll see some of the ones that I want there 🤞
8:26 Logee's in Connecticut had the Waianae Leopard in bloom last week. It has a sweet cinnamon fragrance. 14:32 I wasn't expecting to see a Miltoniopsis or Zygopetalum. I would have bought 31:06 (reminds me of a lady slipper) or 48:33.
