    Fuji Weekly has a Vintage Negative recipe that I always shoot around a -1 or -2 exposure. Definitely my go-to right now, especially for shooting coffee shops.

    Have you tried the Kodak Vision 3 250D v2 recipe? That was the first one that made me happy with just the sooc jpegs. I don’t use it much now because I can’t let go of editing, but I think it’s nice. Especially in soft light, or golden hour. Even in blue hour it works nice.

    Watch out with the aftermarket soft button. My x100v had to have the the shutter button repaired twice at $500 each time because of the soft shutter button.

    How did the aftermarket soft buttons damage it?

  • @distractedadventures4038

    @SteveJobIess not sure. The shutter button got stuck on. Kept trying to autofocus and not take a picture. I think it might have been the threaded part of the button damaged the button on the pc.

    Interesting, in the olden days, there rolling shutter was called a focal plane shutter, and the global shutter was called a leaf shutter, which looks like pedals on a flower, and when you press the shutter release button, all of the blades open at the same time, functioning like an electronic global shutter. In the bygone days focal plane shutter were the "cat's meow" because you can achieve shutter speeds commonly to 1/1000 or even 1/2000, but leaf shutters could only go to 1/500, so you really didn't see too much of the distortion.

    imo 35 is an awkward middle ground. a 40mm gives you a slightly more flexible FOV than a 50 but still maintains that subject/detail focus and cinematic look. If you're going down to 35 mind as well go to 28/24..

    Like all government agencies they go with the lowest bidder or whoever gives the largest kickback to the congress members in their home state. No other reason and to think there is makes you foolish. Oh and BTW they originally used Hassleblads back when they cared about using the best of everything.

    So many technical aspects of the equipment used for creative work are oddly specific and work in ways that many people just don't want to; know, or have to manage. Rolling shutter is one of those things that pros used to spend big money to eliminate to avoid distracting distortion. there are workarounds and most definitely better tools. I know you have touched on film photography before, it feels like it's been a while, but there are some stills cameras that use Leaf shutters in the lens, that also make for much nicer use of flash given sync at all shutter speeds. I enjoy the videos you make that delve into aspects of creation that employ some thoughtful consideration. ❤

    04:00 Please note that there can be LED flicker issues in video (or neon light flicker, LED are not the only flickering light source), just not in one frame anymore. If you shoot at 120fps video (or photo) some of the frames will be lighter than the others, as it will see sometimes full lit, and sometimes dark. But the banding within ONE single frame is gone :).

    Amazing but shame about the drop in dynamic range to aps-c levels… it’s not a straightforward upgrade.

  • @djrease7354
    @djrease735411 күн бұрын

    A9iii is aimed at sports so dynamic range not a priority, speed is priority.. For Dynamic Range the slower higher resolution A7R series should suffice, …

  • @DigiDriftZone
    @DigiDriftZone11 күн бұрын

    @@djrease7354 indeed, just worth noting as it’s a bit of a specialised purpose camera, not an all round upgrade for video shooter. The way way way cheaper zv-e1 still has advantages if you aren’t shooting sports and do care about dynamic range and low light performance for example.
