There is a lot of talk about changing the magic system. Vancian Magic (Sounds like: Drangon-Lanceian) take to long to master. The spell descriptions are too long. Then other people that want Spell Points seem like they are just doing that to cheese what even system is settled on. Did they have a link for a sample file? I didn't see it.

@@Zr0din It normally never did. But last year was the first time time tickets ever sold out since I’ve been really going. The entire last month of the season last year sold out a month in advance. No idea why it got so popular. This year, I think it’s because of that show that came out recently about a Renaissance Faire.

I ran a short campaign based on The Boats of the Glen Carrig; definitely required reading for this setting. The Ghost Pirates is perhaps a little less good. Both books by William Hope Hodgson.

Everyone has a different way of dealing with the 'turn to stone' mechanic, but all 5e compatible books and systems claim their Medusa is CR6. 3. I liked the older version of Kenku as well. It was a very unique characteristic that fit their theme. Not every build is supposed to be easy to play, that's what makes them interesting to roleplay and interact with.

Oh absolutely! It is so much fun getting out of the box and try something different! But I do get why they made the change. Some people just aren't comfortable yet and felt intimidated by that particular lore for them. They said it was the major factor for people not wanting to play the Kenku back then. But that is why I allowed my player to use the updated Kenku for the features but to still talk via mimicry only.

@@mochabearshobbyden Literally could not outfit a chaos lord with any kind of wargear other than what was specifically listed in its entry which had like maybe 10 options and you could not give a regular power armor lord, 2 lightning claws nor jump pack for starters, then they took half my army away by banning it in play outside of casual games because of legends units. My Night Lords were specifically themed and had so much flexibility in every other edition. Not sure how 10th is but nope.

Loved the video and the background. I just got started learning all of the rules after playing casually with a friend for 15 years. Book in my opinion are written terribly for an average newcomer like myself but I am struggling through asking for help online. Have you heard of Shadowdark? I only saw a bit online but looked promising.

Hey MB, glad for this video because I do have a question (not about the races), since I am a solo newbie player, I’m not clear on what it means when a player “takes a rest” because you’ve used your abilities. Does it mean you completely stop playing for an allotted time, or do you keep playing but can’t use your ability for the allotted? I still have a ways to go with the rule book and I haven’t come across any explanation yet! Thanks👍🏽

So when your character takes a rest, it’s an in game mechanic. A short rest is a 1 hour down time in game where your character can recover health, abilities if they can, and do simple things like cook, read, etc. A long rest is 8 hours in game where they typically go to sleep. During that time the can fully recover their health, spell slots, ability uses, and anything else linked to it.

So you could be sitting at the table unable to do anything till say the next day of play? I’m sorry to be so thick about this, I just don’t see what is the reasoning behind this rule!

I can never get excited by the minis until I see them painted ( isn’t it cool you’re doing just that soon!) And, yes to a cards video! 1. Please don't hate me that I skipped to the unboxing. 2. I'm having a bad record of choosing Kickstarters. The ones I buy just the PDF are the best ones that I regret that I didn't buy the book at least. Then there are the ones that I paid for the book and some, and they fail on me (I've had a couple that didn't deliver... ever). 3. Now for the ones that I bought the big package and they did deliver- that's awesome! I just hate that turn around time is 12-18 Months.

This why gave up in getting into warhammer table top gaming because you literally have to fork over 100s of dollars for plastic pieces and a book for your army that you want to build. And that’s not even getting into the board and buildings you have to make from scratch just to finally be able to play, which is why I started getting into non fiction tabletop war gaming which is much more cheaper to get into then warhammer.

Limited box set turned out to be limited and not everyoby was able to get it. Truly shocking indeed. It's not liek these boxes hold unique models you can never buy from GW again. You just have to wait a few more weeks extra. Or you could have gone to a local GW store, skipped the qeue and gotten your product. If the ride towards your local gw wasn't worth it, then the product isn't worth getting worked up over. And you should enjoy your live further.

Had both battle forces in my box within 30 seconds of preorders going live, hit pay and it pulled me out of the pay window and removed the veterans box, hit pay again and it pulled the dread talon box out, both for insufficient stock ~120 seconds

Im a pretty new player to the hobby (4 months) and i had just brought the old chaos combat patrol as i thought they just looked cool. I was lucky enough to go onto the website at 9:50 and everything was up for pre order then, so i really quickly pre ordered everything whilst i could to really start a chaos army, and as for the kill team nightmare box, my store had 1 box still available, so i got that a week or 2 ago. Im really happy ive got the boxes, but i 100% understand the anger and disappointment people are experiencing. Seems like this is a really common issue from GW from what im seeing

@mochabearshobbyden thanks! Yea, ive already spent a lot on this hobby already, mostly on tyranids (ive got about 2600 points i think of them now?). I have found a model shop just down the road from me that do a small warhammer selection, so i usually go there now as everything is so much cheaper, and they also have some older/rarer/popular sets there, and they have also been selling some sets early too, like the kroot, they were selling those about a week before release, at a lower price too. Im looking forward to these chaos though! I thought i mares well go all in with it, so i even got the collectors codex, datasheet cards, and the cultist firebrand, which ive heard people have some unpopular opinions about that single model, but i think he's kinda cool anyways, so im not particularly fussed

Exactly! Problem is most people do their shopping online for almost everything. It’s more convenient for those that don’t want to go out or can’t go out to the stores. Like me, I am normally off on Saturdays and the closest store I could pre order at is over an hour away. I sadly had to work and was on the road to work when preorders went live so I was screwed lol.

Everyone has a different way of dealing with the 'turn to stone' mechanic, but all 5e compatible books and systems claim their Medusa is CR6. 3. I liked the older version of Kenku as well. It was a very unique characteristic that fit their theme. Not every build is supposed to be easy to play, that's what makes them interesting to roleplay and interact with.
Oh absolutely! It is so much fun getting out of the box and try something different! But I do get why they made the change. Some people just aren't comfortable yet and felt intimidated by that particular lore for them. They said it was the major factor for people not wanting to play the Kenku back then. But that is why I allowed my player to use the updated Kenku for the features but to still talk via mimicry only.

I stopped playing when they removed any and all unit customization from CSM since 9th.
I know nothing about how they played during 9th. What do you mean by customization?
@@mochabearshobbyden Literally could not outfit a chaos lord with any kind of wargear other than what was specifically listed in its entry which had like maybe 10 options and you could not give a regular power armor lord, 2 lightning claws nor jump pack for starters, then they took half my army away by banning it in play outside of casual games because of legends units. My Night Lords were specifically themed and had so much flexibility in every other edition. Not sure how 10th is but nope.
@@davidmacon1138 I am so sorry to hear that! That really does blow! Stuff like that is why I have no interest in tournaments. Was the same was back when I played Yugioh. Too many changes and limitations that were fun in home games.

Loved the video and the background. I just got started learning all of the rules after playing casually with a friend for 15 years. Book in my opinion are written terribly for an average newcomer like myself but I am struggling through asking for help online. Have you heard of Shadowdark? I only saw a bit online but looked promising.

Hey MB, glad for this video because I do have a question (not about the races), since I am a solo newbie player, I’m not clear on what it means when a player “takes a rest” because you’ve used your abilities. Does it mean you completely stop playing for an allotted time, or do you keep playing but can’t use your ability for the allotted? I still have a ways to go with the rule book and I haven’t come across any explanation yet! Thanks👍🏽
So when your character takes a rest, it’s an in game mechanic. A short rest is a 1 hour down time in game where your character can recover health, abilities if they can, and do simple things like cook, read, etc. A long rest is 8 hours in game where they typically go to sleep. During that time the can fully recover their health, spell slots, ability uses, and anything else linked to it.
@@mochabearshobbyden okay, that mostly makes sense to me, but when you say 8 hours, are you saying that you actually stop playing for 8 hours!? So you could be sitting at the table unable to do anything till say the next day of play? I’m sorry to be so thick about this, I just don’t see what is the reasoning behind this rule!

MB, great video! It was so nice watching you unboxing a kickstarter…and wow, love the book art, dice and gorgeous roll. That DM screen was so incredible, plus the cloth map… just wow! I can never get excited by the minis until I see them painted ( isn’t it cool you’re doing just that soon!) And, yes to a cards video! 1. Please don't hate me that I skipped to the unboxing. 2. I'm having a bad record of choosing Kickstarters. The ones I buy just the PDF are the best ones that I regret that I didn't buy the book at least. Then there are the ones that I paid for the book and some, and they fail on me (I've had a couple that didn't deliver... ever). 3. Now for the ones that I bought the big package and they did deliver- that's awesome! I just hate that turn around time is 12-18 Months.

GW isn't the real problem here, it's anyone who hasn't donned The Armor of Contempt, and turned their backs on GW, that is the problem. GW has embraced Heresy...and The Emprah don't go for that.
This why gave up in getting into warhammer table top gaming because you literally have to fork over 100s of dollars for plastic pieces and a book for your army that you want to build. And that’s not even getting into the board and buildings you have to make from scratch just to finally be able to play, which is why I started getting into non fiction tabletop war gaming which is much more cheaper to get into then warhammer.
Limited box set turned out to be limited and not everyoby was able to get it. Truly shocking indeed. It's not liek these boxes hold unique models you can never buy from GW again. You just have to wait a few more weeks extra. Or you could have gone to a local GW store, skipped the qeue and gotten your product. If the ride towards your local gw wasn't worth it, then the product isn't worth getting worked up over. And you should enjoy your live further.
Had both battle forces in my box within 30 seconds of preorders going live, hit pay and it pulled me out of the pay window and removed the veterans box, hit pay again and it pulled the dread talon box out, both for insufficient stock ~120 seconds

Im a pretty new player to the hobby (4 months) and i had just brought the old chaos combat patrol as i thought they just looked cool. I was lucky enough to go onto the website at 9:50 and everything was up for pre order then, so i really quickly pre ordered everything whilst i could to really start a chaos army, and as for the kill team nightmare box, my store had 1 box still available, so i got that a week or 2 ago. Im really happy ive got the boxes, but i 100% understand the anger and disappointment people are experiencing. Seems like this is a really common issue from GW from what im seeing

GW is making it harder and harder to continue to support them. Prices and quantity have been an increasing issue. I’ve only noticed it during the middle of 9th edition.
@mochabearshobbyden thanks! Yea, ive already spent a lot on this hobby already, mostly on tyranids (ive got about 2600 points i think of them now?). I have found a model shop just down the road from me that do a small warhammer selection, so i usually go there now as everything is so much cheaper, and they also have some older/rarer/popular sets there, and they have also been selling some sets early too, like the kroot, they were selling those about a week before release, at a lower price too. Im looking forward to these chaos though! I thought i mares well go all in with it, so i even got the collectors codex, datasheet cards, and the cultist firebrand, which ive heard people have some unpopular opinions about that single model, but i think he's kinda cool anyways, so im not particularly fussed

Hence why I threw the logo over Dr. Evil and crew laughing lol. It was the first thing that came to mind when I started planning on filming this video. They are the real crooks. Even their own physical stores are kept out of the loop.

Exactly! Problem is most people do their shopping online for almost everything. It’s more convenient for those that don’t want to go out or can’t go out to the stores. Like me, I am normally off on Saturdays and the closest store I could pre order at is over an hour away. I sadly had to work and was on the road to work when preorders went live so I was screwed lol.
