  Come si fa a non commuoversi ascoltando quest'aria? Essa è un piccolo grande capolavoro, una delle più belle perle di cui sono disseminate le opere di Vinci, vero genio della musica vocale di tutti i tempi. Si capisce come il rivale Porpora fosse roso dall'invidia verso Vinci! Sentando musiche come queste direbbe: "Basta, mi arrendo. Non arriverò mai a comporre musica così bella!" E Fagioli di queste meraviglie è formidabile e insuperabile interprete.

Η δεύτερη σκηνή της πέμπτης πράξης της όπερας (drama in musica) Armide (έργο 71 στον κατάλογο των έργων του). Η όπερα παρουσιάστηκε το 1686 (ένα χρόνο πριν το θάνατό του) και το λιμπρέτο είναι του Philippe Quinault, με ιστορία δανεισμένη από το επικό ποίημα του Torquato Tasso, «Gerusalemme liberata». Σημαντικότατο έργο της λογοτεχνίας της εποχής. Στο έργο του Lully το σημείο αυτό αντιστοιχεί σε μια Πασσακάλια, δηλαδή μια μουσική φόρμα με τρίσημο μέτρο και συνεχές βάσιμο. Η Armide ( Armida στο έργο του Τάσσο) είναι η ηρωίδα - μάγισσα που μισεί - αγαπά τον ιππότη της πρώτης Σταυροφορίας Rinaldo (ή Renaud για τους Γάλλους). Όπως πάντα η όπερα του Μπαρόκ έχει, σαν ήρωες και ηρωίδες, χαρακτήρες δανεισμένους από την Ελληνική ή Λατινική μυθολογία, φτάνοντας και μέχρι τη μεσαιωνική ιπποσύνη. Το βίντεο είναι από την παραγωγή του, μοναδικού και εμπνευσμένου William Christie και του συγκροτήματός του Les Arts Florissants. Το προτίμησα λόγω του συνδυασμού μουσική εκτέλεση - ποιότητα τραγουδιστών, παρ’ όλες τις αντιρρήσεις για τις χορογραφίες, που κατά καιρούς ξεσηκώνουν οι εκτελέσεις - παραγωγές του! Τελειώνοντας, δεν μπορώ ν’ αποφύγω τον πειρασμό να παραθέσω και μια άλλη πολύ γνωστή πασσακάλια του Luigi Boccherini, από το πασίγνωστο και μοναδικό έργο του “La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid” ( Η νυχτερινή μουσική των δρόμων της Μαδρίτης ) όπου οι παραλλαγές σε τρίσημο μέτρο και το συνεχές βάσιμο είναι ακόμη πιο ευκρινή.   :) I continue admiring and enjoying your work... for me, this is the most lovely part of your garden, where the dahlia is somehow magically unfurling according to the melody of the Passacaille and an unfolding gerbera fluttering its petals as if dancing to the music.
