You are the GOAT for this. Seriously. Incredible.
Copilot brought me here. Nice
thank you, nice instruction!
Hello..I have such problems with conceptualizing workflows. I actually want to use Jira as a PM Tool just for myself to train myself in working with it. I work as financial fund manager of EU funded projects at a University, so over the lifecycle (several years) i'd say I have an initial phase, some reportings, final reportings and then project closure. Each of this stages is quite complex. Reporting means: Gathering information, researching, auditing, uploading to sponsor, waiting for response, correction, accepting money and so on. In the meantime I have to confirm purchases and employments of staff throughout the project. How do I set up constant (procurement) or occiassional (staff) happenings within a workflow. There are meetings involved, that of course have their own tasks etc. It's all quite non-agile, tbh. I have no clue how to structure this in a meaningful way in Jira, it always gets so chaotic. Its always an issue for me, if I can squeeze all of the above in one projekt or if i.e. a meeting would be a very tiny single project. Now workflows puzzle me like crazy: Is the whole thing one workflow, skippi: Project starts - expenses incurr - final eligibility check Is everything a separate workflow: Employment of Staff is one Workflow, Procurement is one workflow, Reporting as well? Or more tiny yet - is "tendering procedure to find an auditor" maybe a workflow (tendering would be part of auditing would be part of reporting)? I mean, you can set up a workflow for a task like "answering the phone" (pick up - speak - cancel) right? I am confused. please help.
Bro your name is Josh -- not JASH like Target having a fancy 'tarjayyy' saying. C'mon buddy. Reality check.
bro was wayyyy too smooth those first 3 seconds... I had to make sure I checked on the right video LOL
nope, still blows out the container
Completely omitted getting this inactive workflow to active and then jumped to a kanban board showing an active workflow. Sorry, but not the help I was hoping to find. Otherwise a good video; unfortunately for me it's of something I now can't activate and use.
Agile is most confusing mindset
This "italic" font is terrible to read :(
Great video, but I am lost at 12:11. After creating the workflow, how do you get from an inactive workflow to using it in a Kanban board?
Good job again! However.. I find the naming of things a bit unfortunate.. Personally, I find the lower vs upper case spelling of the state names confusing (capitals on outer state names, but also for event names, lowercase on inner state names). And then the name "ON" of the state vs the "on" field of the xstate definition... Maybe in a future iteration you'll come up with something better 😉 (Dunno.. active/inactive, enabled/disabled, turned_on/turned_off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 😄) Still, well done and thanks!
In Germany, there is an additional phase on traffic lights, that is RED -> RED+YELLOW -> GREEN. So, when it was red, it does not simply flip to green, instead red stays on, and for a second or two, yellow turns on in addition, and then both go off and green turns on. It would be nice to see how you would efficiently model that behaviour in your machine! Good job BTW! Nicely chosen example, well implemented and presented!
Seriously, way too many facial expressions. We are not toddlers, we are software professionals. So I suggest you tune your style for your target audience
Why doesn't it offer the ability to do a real component hierarchy?
Try using a whiteboard to draw. It would really help. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Josh , @2.30 when you select Board = <Scrum in Space> and said "as we look earlier" .. Did we created that board before? Sorry not clear. Dashboard name in this example = <Sprint in Space> *not scrum. Where Board drop down menu populated from ? In my case I have it empty. I assume Board and Dashboard are different things here?
Was this company not able to find a other name than Vue, who is already since more than 10 years the name of a Computer Graphics Software ? Its very much annoying every time i search a Video for CG Software Vue pops up the wrong Videos about this Vue i dont want... 😬
Wanted to know how to bulk import to current component
don't know why they change from Roadmap to Timeline. does it better? very confuse with this updated from Jira
good stuff
Nice, concise video. Question: How much information is too much information? I'm about to upload a final web design project for a class. I've settled on language-type-namespecificity, i.e., html5-webproject-prairiepaws. Do I include CSS in the naming convention? The institution it's associated with? html5-css-webproject-ccc-cis181-prairiepaws is pretty ungainly. Also, section-internal dashes to separate words get even uglier: html5-css-web-project-ccc-cis-181-prairie-paws. Would love feedback if anyone comes across this comment. Thanks!
Dont understand all the hate here. The tech and "selling the tech" part were on point.
Are you still with Modus? This was a great video. Biggest obstacle is there is a movement to have ServiceNow for business entry from demand module and have it ingested into JIRA. Incident and Request modules from ServiceNow do not offer this. Also JIRA dashboards aren't the best given limitations and out of box. Ideally JIRA dashboards work, but what is preferred route when conforming to previous business operations. Would love to hear your thoughts. B
