I'm a big physical media collector and videos like this confirm for me why that's a smart decision but it does baffle me how you can buy something that a company can then just turn around and "Nope" right out of existence. This is insane to me. Once you buy it, it should be yours in perpetuity - but that clearly isn't the case.
Physical media is the king. Just like cash , cash is king.
There are movies you can't stream. But you can still find on physical media.

People that think that streaming is the best thing in the world now and physical media is old fashioned need to wake up and smell the coffee Seeing the cons and far less the pros of streaming is. I like disney plus and max but its not physical media

Our local walmart is always sold out of DVDs. I just wish they would start to carry more bluray and 4k discs, which are starting to make more of a presence in the store. I said it from day one YEARS ago; do NOT let physical media die.
People stop being so stupid, pirating is the only way to have the best of both worlds. I have been a pirate for over 30 years. I never fell for the lure of Netflix. I have over 6,500 movies, over 1,600 complete/up to date TV series, complete game ROM packs for my favorite consoles and god know how much music. No one can change my content or restrict me accessing my content. I don't deal with buffering or throttling. I don't need to devote a room to my media or deal with dusting and inventorying. I don't have to worry about losing media or destroyed media from fire, floods or other disasters. My media sits on my little media server in my basement. With PLEX I give access to my library to my kids and other select family/friends. I don't need to worry about getting out of my comfy bed to change content. From the comfort of my bead I can switch between movies, TV series, music tracks, games, KZread, etc. at the push of a few buttons. My entire collection is backed up onto 2.5" 5TB portable drives that literally fit in the palm of my hands. By the end of this year I will be backing up my media onto 4TB NVMEs that will literally fit in one hand. Don't get me wrong, I have fond memories of going to Blockbuster with my Son to pick out movies and games, but Blockbuster is gone. I went to the theatre with my Son literally every weekend for 5 years straight between 2000 and 2005, but the movies are prohibitively expensive today and today's movies mostly suck ass.
Until the day that everything is on Netflix (or whatever service) you're going to end up buying DVDs...

Yea but streaming services getting 2 far. in 2008 Netflix was the only streaming service now we have 2 much of them and when you want 2 watch a special movie and it not on netflix (when your allredy payed) yea good luck buying an extra subsription to an other service.
I back up KZread videos on physical cds and buy physical movies for my collection so i am in control and also i have a digital converter box i use to run KZread videos full screen and watch tv with a ge digital antenna

The only subscriptions I have anymore is a movie theater subscription, and Netflix because it’s bundled in with my phone plan.
nope-the cost of streaming is too expensive so I am keeping and buying my dvd and bluray. The cost of streaming has gottenout of hand, You have to have several streamings and even then, they may not carry what you want. And they can drop any item they want.

Don't agree with this video. Streaming is on its last rights. Disney paramount have lost billions in revenue, now your paying more including advertising on services. Physical will be king again in 2024 and beyond.😮

There are countless subreddit discussions I've come across over the past decade bringing up the fact some television series are nowhere to be found. Never have and probably never will just because the host is way too cheap to pay a royalty for music and too stupid to negotiate. Besides, when the Internet is down for whatever reason, there goes your access. I have 2000 discs and a thousand more on hard drives. Guess what? They're all mine to keep, to watch whenever. No expiration dates until the discs corrode and drives start to fail.
One day without physical media, streaming services can raise their price and you have no choice! I think this is their strategy to make more money from streaming addicts.

I'm not sure it is. Lots of people are buying physical media again owing to streaming services charging again and again for the same programme/film.
I'm getting tired of corporations crapping on our rights and taking ownership away from consumers. Unless you hold the physical medium, the company can terminate your rights to consumption anytime they want to. This is why I don't subscribe to streaming services, I buy physical media.
Here I thought this was going to be making fun of physical media and 'why people waste time with such things' This was a well put together piece which brings light to the situation, we're still very much in flux at this point. I believe people who care about their favorite types of content will come around to help bring balance to the markets.
Seriously, my cash is good, so should be the services. "Oh, you are just buying a temporary license!" And I'm just "temporarily" not paying you. Easy. If buying isn't owning, pirating isn't stealing <- my new favorite phrase 🙂
Another consideration is the new content on these streaming services is mostly crap. The best titles ever made are, and will continue to be, available on physical media.
Not helped by Disney NOT releasing in Australia anymore... clear they desperately want you to subscribe to their streaming service.... Netflix and Amazon do not release their own product on disk .... streaming is becoming a scam

Not really. Vinyl Records are now popular again after many years. CDs, DVDS, Blu Ray There will Always be a market for such. Physical Media you pay Once and can listen to it Forever
I have bought CDs since 1986, SACDs since 1999 and Blu Ray audio discs since 2012. Whenever I listen to my silver discs I get a wide grin. As long as there are people like me who keep buying physical media, physical media will never die.

I have so many DVDs, blue rays, CDs I'm running out of room for them and when I die nobody will want them so they will end up in the landfill so want I do? Just keep them for now.
