Breeding is a liar. He was forced to allow to speak as if I am not mistaken, is the only Russell County Chairman who has ever closed the public comment period before asking if anyone got there late and did not have time to sign the sheet to speak. If you wonder why there is silence at the middle of the video before they took a break, it's because you can hear my voice telling breeding that people still want to speak and even then, he acted as if it was his decision to allow us to or not. I stripped him of his authority and took control of his meeting, so myself as well as others Russell County Citizens could exercise their constitutional rights. They have also alter their video, to remove this fact! This is your legacy breeding!

I was told by some one a few weeks back who's name I will not mention, that one of the newly elected supervisors told him that the county would be sued by "Mr. Matney and or his company" if the supervisors did not agree to sign a host agreement. This lie is apparently being spread throughout the county and this newly elected "male" supervisor is one of the ones spreading this lie. According to one of the people that spoke as a concerned citizen tonight, he stated: that he ask Mr. Matney point blank. "in the public hearing held several months ago" if he intended to sue the county if the supervisors did not sign a host agreement, (to which Mr. Matney replied NO). This question and answer are apparently on video (at least it is for right now) so there is no denying if it did or did not happen. If this supervisor is spreading this lie throughout the county "what" other lies is he capable of telling the citizens of the county. I can honestly say, even though this supervisor shares my political party affiliation which is "staunch republican", I did not vote for him or the person running against him because of a gut feeling I had about him. I live in the Castlewood area and this supervisor apparently does not. I don't even know the man but apparently my gut feeling was telling me the truth. I will not vote for him in the future either. In fact if this supervisor has any integrity at all, he should make a public statement concerning the issue and or resign, but my bet is he will do neither. It is people like him that's the very reason citizens have little or no trust of politicians. Just my Opinion. Please vote NO on the host agreement.

I am trying my best to not be critical here but may I suggest that whoever is doing the audio either get better equipment or maybe, it is that they need to do some training of each supervisor how to speak into the microphones. If you turn it up enough to hear what is being said, by all supervisors, when the county administrator speaks or Steve Breeding speaks and "may I say it is not their fault, maybe they are the only ones doing it right" it blows the speakers on my computer across the room. May I suggest the use of headset type microphones for each supervisor to balance out the audio to hopefully prevent this. I know some people tend to shy away from a microphone but the headset type microphones would prevent this also. The people need to be able to hear what each supervisors has to say and if a supervisor don't want the people to hear what they say then maybe they need to get out of politics.

Corporate America is playing county governments for the fool. They come in with their promises of jobs in exchange for tax perks. When the tax perks run out, so do they and move to another county that is struggling economically and get the same deal there. I for one would rather pay higher real estate taxes rather than to be played for a fool. But like Forrest Gump said, "stupid is as stupid does". The small rural counties in Va. and across America need to band together to stop this practice that has been going on for years, and quit being played for fools. I know being on the board of supervisors is a tough job and tough decision have to be made. Those decisions need to be made for the benefit of the majority of the citizens. A promise is only as good as the "legal contract" that is signed to see that that promise is fulfilled. A man's handshake is no longer good enough and "in truth with most people it never has been". My Dad always told me to trust God and hold everybody else legally accountable. Pretty good advice from a man with a fifth grade education. In my 71 years on this earth I have met a lot of college graduates with a lot less wisdom than that. BTW !! "Pay our teachers well". A once very successful football couch said, "you get to be your best by competing against the best". I don't have any kids or grandkids in the public schools system of Russell County and probably never will, but our school system is the "future success or failure" of out county.

A couple of these gentlemen were very rude and condescending. I did not see them take one note. I did see them check their watch, phone, piece of paper, and reach for a spit cup all night. It’s obvious that they are not for the people but only for themselves. They look bored! Getting irritated that it’s so late when they are the ones that set the time. Makes NO sense to ruined this beautiful area!! Follow the money…….

Has any citizen of Russell County ever spoke in favor of this land fill? That should answer the question for the board since you are suppose to be working for us. DUH, I guess if a politician gets enough bribes they will turn a blind eye to the citizens they are supposed to be serving. Maybe the bank accounts of all of the board of supervisors need to be audited to attain the transparency needed in this situation. DUH, (mr. breeding) there is a big difference between slate and Bio Waste. BTW an expert is best defined as: "An ex is a has been" and a "spurt is a leak under pressure" You pay them enough money they will say anything you want.

Not that I am aware of. Getting this landfill issue passed, seems to be the personal agenda of certain board members. It is no different then the Vice Mayor of Honaker who got so upset over the new board moving the time and dates of the monthly meetings. He acted as if no one knew about this. Somebody knew and since his boss sleeps with one of the board members, I will assume that they knew as well. Maybe we can get that group of "Babes in Christ" to speak up at the next meeting and threaten to vote them off again. After all, it seems to have worked when the Noise Ordnance was being voted on.

To quote or “rather paraphrase” a line from the movie (Fire Down Below). The actor says (I want to know why they don’t dump this stuff in their own backyard, no they would rather pay some Dumb Hillbilly 15 dollars an hour to dump it in your backyard. Why is that?) This movie which was a story about toxic waste being placed in abandoned mine works in Kentucky. BTW this story is loosely based on a true event that happened back in the early 1970’s. It appears the people behind this are just out to line their pockets and the H___ with Russell County. I have heard that at least one supervisor has been voted out of office over this issue and I fear the one who took their place will do no different. I know they won’t answer a question (via email) about their opinion on the matter. Which seems to be a pretty good indicator they may be all for it. I grant you I will do my best to see that any supervisor that codons or votes for this is also voted out of office in the future also. That is not a threat it is a “PROMISE”

Building this private landfill will be a poor decision on the part of the Board of Supervisors of Russell Count due to the extensive mining that has been conducted in the Southwest Virginia area and the locations of many thrust faults such as the Lee Formation Fault, “which basically follows the Clinch River from near Bluefield Virginia to Cumberland Gap Tennessee, the Buffalo Mountain Fault, which lays directly in the area of the proposed landfill site and this is not to mention the many other minor faults along with the many fractures in the earth’s strata in this area due to mining operation. If seepage from the landfill migrates into these faults and fractures, the water aquifers could be contaminated for miles therefore opening Russell County up to lawsuits from surrounding municipalities such as Wise, Scott and Lee counties to mention only a few that could be effected. This is also not to mention the fact that this landfill would be operated by a private company. I know you are thinking but they will be regulated by government agencies, “Ha Ha”. Due to politics, government agencies cannot even control themselves let along private industry which intern lobby and therefore control many of our corrupted government political officials, which are pretty much puppets on a string “and I might add a very short string at that”. Therefore I strongly stand against this landfill being built.

If the board approves this site to be put in, we need to vote them all out of office and put someone in that will look out for Russell citizens, not special interest groups. The question we need to ask is, why do these people not want a land field in their back yard. The money and the jobs are not worth it use your noodle people.

Glade View Subdivision Residence. How about some assistance on our Subdivision Road with that 7% raise you gave yourselves? WHAT A SHAME FOR THE VOTERS IN THIS SUBDIVISION. Don't lecture me about requirements, if you wanted to help, you would work to find a way. There are two Supervisors on the Board that knows me personally, that I respect very well. One I atteded church with for years and the other, we grew up in the same subdivision together. Please help us!

In my humble opinion about the trash site closure,. people will adjust and "if they don't" and start throwing trash beside of the road and we catch them we need make an example of them with a minimum of a $1000.00 fine and post it publicly. I grant you they will adjust

What is up with the sound. Apparently the mikes were muted 90% of the time during the meeting or is this the new deal, no sound, just post a video of our faces that is good enough. The people don’t need to know what is said, they may disagree. Typical politics.

It seems pretty simple to me. One Board of Supervisor member can appoint one or two persons or however many they are allowed to appoint to serve on a committee or on a commission for “their district only”. If they don’t or can’t appoint someone then that district will not be represented at all until the supervisor for that particular district can appoint the number of committee members they are allowed to appoint. The way it is now, it appears to me that if a supervisor has a bunch of cronies in the county they can dominate any committee or commission by appointing them to other supervisor’s district, even if that person does not live in the other supervisors district. This is how kangaroo courts are formed and run and in there lays the root of the problem .

This was ridiculous... I heard a lot of griping about the budget, and it’s shortfalls. But when the time came to present public comments on how to go about the next budget; 😂NOTHING from the “peanut gallery protest” outside. Not to mention that there isn’t a lot of understanding of the governor’s emergency ordinance, and what it’s for. 🙄

For clarification; Cleveland does not and has not had “raw sewage flowing into the river” Lol@her Cleveland’s supervisor should have corrected her on this, and told her that Cleveland has had no spillage, to date; and doesn’t plan to. (But that won’t ever happen...). Not sure why she would want to block this funding, since her district is down river.
