  @@Joshspeaksthetruth I fixed the OLD one. The new one seems to have a driver board issue and I don't have time to mess with it. Sorry I couldn't help.

  Thanks for the video. I just received shipment of an old Lionel set that has similar Marx electric switches, but with an indicator light as well. #4 machine screws it is. Unfortunately it seems the set was boxed in an attic or shed in salt air and the rust monster has seriously invaded. Major restoration needed. Just wanted to see the guts before I broke out the tools. Thanks.

  Switch opens with controller great but when pushed to close it is locked up? Help. Is it a power issue? Great video I am rebuilding.

  Check to see if there is something binding it when you try to energize the coil to return it to the home position. If not, it could be that the "magnet wire" is beginning to fail. Once the coating gets compromised from heat, the coils are shot. I actually bought some coil wire but I have yet to try to wind my own coils.

  It's in the video. One wire goes to the center rail and one wire goes to one of the outer rails, using rail clip.

  Would it cause any issues to spray a couple shots of wd40 through the lubrication hole on these switches if I'm having trouble with one of mine locking?

  It likely won't hurt anything but it may not help much. Hard to say without taking it apart. Could be somewhat bound mechanically, but the coating on the solenoid windings may also be shot.

  Does the metal on the body get bent when disabling these tenders? I need to take two apart, one to paint and one to glue the weights back down, but im afraid of dimpling the metal bodies above the tabs.

  Be as NICE to them as you can when disassembling them. Remember that you only have one or 2 shots at bending those tabs before they get weak. I think I used a small precision flat head screwdriver and I wasn't very aggressive with the angle when I was bending them out ward. Take your time with it and it will turn out great.

  A simpler method for ballast is to add neodymium magnets to the inside of the barrel at the base of the arm. If you can find the tube-type or small button magnets, you can just stick them in the barrel. no modification needed.

  6x32 screws with nuts , a good idea , I used a pop rivet gun , not good .

  I had one of these when I was a child and I used to carry it around with me like a teddy bear cuz I love train so much as I got older I fixed it and kind of did the same thing you did except I used a Lionel pressure switch marks pieces weren't as readily available as they are again today

  It runs on voltage that is supplied by the accessory side of your transformer. It's activated by a train that runs over a press-on tab that flows voltage through the frame of the train. Have you seen this set up before? I could make a quick video to show you.

  Thank you! I already have a pressure plate set up I just heard that you can wire it up not to the transformer but to an insulated rail. I am trying to save up slots on my transformer. But if you know how to can you please make a video on how to wire an insulated rail thank you!

  Certainly,Marx switches are 0/27 and Lionel trains have little trouble with them.However not so in reverse Lionel are closed frog ,most Marx locos have a drive gear that rides up on Lionel switches then derails.
