For as long as I can remember, I've always had a dream of living on a tropical island. As it happens, life events come along and our dreams end up being just that...dreams without realization. Now that the kids are all grown up and doing well with their own families, I decided it was time to re-explore the dream of island living. So following some great advice on how to reach goals by defining them and making/executing a plan, I started on my path to build a new life in the Philippines. Being married to a former natural-born Filipino allowed us to buy some land near her home town and now we are in the process of building a home there.
This channel is devoted to vlogging this journey. Hopefully those with similar dreams might find something useful or hopefully entertaining here. And why "π" you might ask? "π" or "Pi" has been used over the centuries to find solutions to building goals. Here too I am doing the same...but this time the "PI" Philippine Islands...

You built your own forest.

Wow great pool cleaner product. I remember when I was a kid my mom cleaning the pool at the apartment we lived at my mom was the apartment manager.
How was your subdivision during Carina?
We got wet but no flooding. Thankful we are on higher ground.
Thank you James and the Rotary Club for all you do in the community. I was a patient of Shriners hospital for handicap children. Tim Tebow foundation has a hospital in the Philippines.
Good Stuff James, Happy happy Rotary club!1❤

Magandang hapon po James and Niece
A nice house yes and a lot of effort went into everything--except that tiny old fridge. Surely you could have planned for a better fridge???And yes, seven 11 drinks fridges are for the basement , not a dining room. Sorry that's tacky.
Good evening James and Ness😊😊
⭐️

Thanks for subbing!

Besure to keep all the glass and filters and other parts of the glass screen in the proper order. I would have put both sides of the backlight in to keep the light shape and brightness the same and save the old one for a back-up.
Best video on Mitsubishi heat pumps.... I had a major leak after remodeling with demolition and drywalling. Fan was all caked akd the drain tube plugged so AC condensation would not drain. I had the entire unit pulled apart by following the video... Cleaned out my drain tube with a copper ground wire to unplug it. Thanks
How`s the weather now in Batangas, just saw in YT that our province is affected by typhoon, landslides, but most those in coastal areas. Lipa and San Jose is far from the ocean, but the aftermath of the heavy storms.
Good now since the storm passed. Here in Lipa, we rarely get affected by most of the storms because of our elevation and protection from neighboring mountain ranges.
@@MyPIDream Thanks for the info.
I love this House.
Hello po. Can i ask tierra Maria? As of now typhoon Carina.. there's no flood in Tierra Maria? Please reply po. Salamat 😊
No flooding here. We are on high elevation and very good drainage.
I like the first house setting, was covered from your other vlog. It's a PI Dream to build a home at this estate, quite place to live,I am looking forward for another cover video from those three you've shown us.God bless to you both.
Philippines is beautifull, We invite Americans to retired in our country.
You motivated me to open up my 65' uhd samsung tv. Same fault as yours. I hope its led fault and nothing else. Just wanna know, these led strips, are they universal? Or do i have to order a specific one according to my tv?
The LED strips are not universal and you must match up the correct strips to the model of your TV.
@@MyPIDream noted. Have ordered from AliExpress according to my model
Nice neighbor house you have there in Lipa. I miss home too,but I have to work more over one year, thin thinking my last day of work is january 2026.
Magandang umaga James and Ness.., nice house of ur friend, so excited to see the full house tour. 💪👍
nothing but perfection!! I just love it.
My mini-split makes such a loud purring/engine sound whether it is turned on or off. Would the solution be to give it a deep clean or call someone in to fix it?
The scope of this video is to fix a clogged drain pipe to stop leaking. A full cleaning is recommended annually or more frequently depending on usage and exposure to dusty environment. This might correct your issue.
Great build, we have the same tile in our bath. His and my taste is similar. I’m also in agreement about their furniture being a little on the short side. Great video thanks.
Another beautifull house in the Philippines.
Do you know Hannah one can fix a glass and a flatscreen TV smart TV anyone
James, did I miss the cost breakdown?
I'm getting many questions regarding pricing so I'll just repost what I answered to a previous comment regarding this question. "I didn't ask as a matter of personal privacy but you can contact the builder for more info: Caribbean Construction Contractor Romeo Nocete Design and Construction facebook.com/Caribbeanconstructions/ Office: 0977 142 3050"
can we know how much the whole cost of the project?
What a beautiful home. The Kitchen feels very American to me.
I would like to say I have watch every video you put out. But. I was wondering if you have or will you put together a video of unwise products used, wear and tear issues, high maintenance upkeep you changed your mind and changed and outside of house mold/moss and cracks. Examples I have seen you replace. Deck rails. Garage door. Tree removal. Etc
where is this?
Hello James and Ness, is the lot property is still available? Thank you.
hi James, great vid and drone shot, huge lot for sure and looks a great spot too. Just a quick 2 questions - are there many lots left?? I have a year to go before retirement and looking to move to the Batangas region as my partner's family live around Tuy, so not quite in a position to do anything yet. Second question, is there good public transport back to Manila from the Estates or Lipa itself?? Driving 'into' Manila is not something i'd like to do but to get in for a visit etc is still fun. cheers, appreciate all you do for your community there ;-)
Could You Share the Cost of the Build and the Property ?... it is a Very Nice Home
very beautiful house, the couple should be very proud of what they've achieved in such a short time.
HELLO JAMES, I LOVE BUNGALOWS AND THE YARD SPACE; THIS ONE BUILT BY THE CARRIBEANS IS IMPRESSIVE. A CANADIAN/FILIPINO, LIVING IN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND.
So roughly how many sqm? And how much per sqm please?😇😇 Thanks
Magkano for the build on pool
Originally didn't have a pool in design and was thinking to do it later, but then decided it would be much easier to excavate during construction than later, so cost depends on when you add a pool and how easy/disruptive it is likely to be.
Thanks James! Beautiful house completion, many great features covered ♥
man it would be so nice to be rich like the guy in his video and all his friends.
I recently bought the Genie wall mount garage door opener and I love it.
How would the owner go about getting those huge trees outside the peremiter taken down? Major solar panel shade.
These are the world’s worst refrigerators they only belong in the junk yard.
How much does Marks house cost per meter. That is a very nice house. And where is it located? We will not be building in a subdivision, but in a rule area.
A rural area will be a lot different price than in a sub division and is a great thing to consider. I would do some research on living in the province vs a gated community.
Beware of building in a rural provincial areas. Think about it, most of the places are far from a decent size city where you can get building materials. Also, if you decide to build close to where her family lives, your newly built home will become the hangout spot. Not to mention if you have aircon throughout the house, the family members will be there 24/7
@daniel - Aside from what the others have said, consider also your distance to a decent hospital and maybe to malls/ supermarkets/ restos (if those matter to you).
Congratulations on your new home.
