Hi, im confused. Does succeeding an attack test also decrement the casualty die? I thought you had to succeed in an attack AND a power test to decrement by 1
"What are the chances WE will ever find one..?" The adventurers version of the Star Wars "I've got a bad feeling about this..."😂
(José) I think random encounters have been a topic of discussion internally, but I can't remember why....
I really liked how you ran the bell tower, combining both outcomes into one.
Thank you, the MCDM Discord had a couple of recommendations regarding the adventure (the other notable one was about deciding what space activated the trap in the first level) and I'm glad I followed them.
"Optimal poop". That's pure d&d,
JUANIN!?!?!? what a small world
hehe
You guys are goats. We started this campain when ı see ur play through. After fate and vampire mosqurade, dragonlance is nice.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate it ☺️ 🖤 #LongLiveTheLance
Hello all
Gonna run this myself today, and oh boy having a stream to watch makes me feel way more prepared. Thanks a lot, both for me personally but also for the work that goes into making all this feedback
Sure, looks promising.. Seems like the DM dialogues could be recorded & split into pieces so parts (or all) of the dialogue could be relayed depending on the amount of the dice roll. Sometimes I get an audiobook like that, where different readers are doing different chapters, it's fine.. Curious to see where this goes, best wishes from Australia 👋
Yooo who did the art for your video thumbnail?
The art, overlay, and tokens were created by our friend Juanin (the Orc Fury player). You can follow him at his IG here instagram.com/juanin.art/ The art has been shared on the MCDM fanart Discord, in case you want to get a better look at it. Juanin also plays the Bard Lynna in our Points of Light campaign, where he's also created all the art
I believe you are supposed to gain victories after every significant encounter rather than at the end of the session. It might have given the characters more options against the kobolds if they were awarded one victory after they dealt with the trap.
I thought about giving them the victory but the packet was clear it only happened when the trap was defused. There was nothing stopping the heroes from taking a couple of rounds to defuse it so I wanted to give them the victory but they specifically chose to leave the trap a factor for future encounters. By the time we ended the session I knew the trap would not be a factor going forward (barring very odd circumstances) so I gave them the trap victory at that point.
Btw, Lobo is fantastic, so much flavor.
Thank you so much! ☺️
Thanks for this stream. Quite a few interesting ideas in this system as playtesting. Looks very similar to 4e, but kind of 2.0.
Great job with this playtest! The Director really helped guide the players through the rules, and everyone was really trying to make the most of their characters. A really good showcase.
Wasn't able to finish on the day itself, finally got around to it. Loved the Angel, the difficulty of negotiation has the otential to be great. Tnx average roll for the showcasing❤
Thanks for watching with us while you could. The negotiation system has a lot of promise. I think it'll work better in a longer adventure where the party can meet an NPC and find information about them several times before a negotiation. There's a bit of seeding motivations in this adventure, but if the party knows they need to negotiate with a powerful entity (like a dragon, lich or devil) there's the possibility of research and prep to find pitfalls ahead of time.
Loved all the characters and the art! Awesome session. :D
Thank you so much! it was really fun playing them
We also liked them, particularly in the second half of the adventure. We hope they'll continue in future tests.
HYPE 🙌
Hate comment
Going to run Kingdoms and Warfare in my campaign session. Nice to see some gameplay from other people. Trying to get an understanding for how it works still.
Really cool to see Nenthir Vale content in 2023. This adventure it's a conversion of a published one or it's your own homebrew?
This one is homebrew, based on 4e content collected by folks over on The Piazza, from Dungeon & Dragon magazines and other 4e books. Many of the NPCs mentioned here are from the 4e Hammerfast book. We began this group because I'd wanted to run the 4e adventure Reavers of Harkenwold for years. After switching to a VTT we started recording the sessions for ourselves and got enthusiastic. We have a recap video of how that adventure went as well as some battles using MCDM's Warfare system that came out after we'd completed it. So those tests are for us to learn the system and see how I would have implemented it in the adventure.
Yooo! Thanks for the shout-out! Looks great!
Going to give this a try in the Rhyme of the Frostmaiden campaign I play in. Thanks for the help everyone.
Gracias por el video y enhorabuena por la partida! No encuentro el enlace a la segunda parte, lo podeis enviar? Gracias!!!

Hey!!
You're doing Dragonlance???? Yusssss
We hope you like it this far. We are enjoying the ride
Finally got around to watching part 2! Good fight guys, well done on the win.
Thanks! We are glad you liked it.

3:27:40 es el momento que me di cuenta lo que había hecho Diego
Great job with the video! thanks again
You are welcome! Glad you liked it!
Necesitaba este video de explicación, thanks!
¡Que bueno que te sirvió!
@@AverageRoll i will see your videos, a new follower here!
Me encantó.
¿Cuarta vez? ¡Wow!
Would you be willing to share your conversion notes for 5E? I'm thinking about running this module, along with "Cairn of the Winter King" and "Madness at Gardmore Abbey" for my school club next year. Thanks in advance!
Sure. You could replace monsters with 5e versions, like the Iron Circle Brigands as bandits, the Dark Adepts as cultists. But I enjoy the 4e monster design more so I did my best to switch them over to 5e. The simple conversion for a monster is to take off the half-level bonus to nearly everything 4e has then figure out the CR of the new one in 5e so you have an idea how tough they are. 4e 1st level characters are much tougher than 5e, which is why I figured this adventure was for levels 3-5 in 5e compared to 1-3 in 4e. They actually ended up at 7th level but that's because I bought the map pack from Mike Schley and that includes maps for two full dungeons that basically got cut down to 2-3 encounters in the published version. It was a great way to get some experience populating a dungeon, since I had a couple of encounters to use as a base and figure out the theme of the dungeon. We'll try and set up a contact email if you're interested in seeing some of my notes or a more extensive monster conversion process.
UCSS MONTERO, alerta !!!
I just realice that Brimkk said: where I come from everyone is from everyone... 🤣
Great video guys and girl. Really enjoyed it. Hoping to introduce my players to this system in the coming weeks!
Thanks!!!!! It was very fun to play too. Is a good system we hope to introduce in our own campaigns
me encantó, el dibujo es lo mejor.
Me encanta la reacción de Wilson cuando Miller pide información a Madre sobre la orden especial xD
Tratando de poner cara de pocker
Alejandro's answer is so silly but definitely one of ttrpgs' most appealing traits. Doesn't matter whether its Cthullu, DnD, Fiasco, Savage Lands, Vampire. If for one evening you get to be a surly vaguely Eastern European drunk while your friend gets to be a snobbish upperclass dick, you're in for a memorable evening.
Hola, excelente canal, saludos desde Uruguay, Dany.
Hola, muchas gracias. Viva LATAM ;-)
You guys deserve more views. Liked, commented and subscribed, let's get the algorytm going! I came here through the warfare video's but i thoroughly enjoy this group and your chemistry.
Wow! Thank you for your kind words. We're glad you're enjoying our group dynamics. Being respectul with each others' boundaries, communication, and most certainly being friends first and a ttrpg's group second, helps a lot. We hope you had fun with what you have seen so far. The "Heroes of Harken" will be back in action soon :)
Hey just found this now - thanks for running this. I had been curious about the warfare without making the opportunity to run it myself, as of yet.
Glad you liked it! It was fun to play it as well. :D
I have never enjoyed watching a D&D livestream more than this. I think my next character is gonna be a warforged barbarian. ❤️💙
Oh!! Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear that you liked the game. Also, warforged barbarian are the best... Or maybe I'm just biased. In any case, I love that big metal man :) If you want to see more of the party in action, you can watch them here. kzread.info/head/PLnns0lIDlbpewq1JmFFHGefeJGLzWwNz7 Jose - Siege player.
I'm glad you made this video. I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the rules and I think I'll end up coming back to this video several times. Also - the DM is really good at giving flavor descriptions of the things that happen in-game. They're short and sweet, and make the battle feel more real.
How did you get those cards?
Sorry for the delay. They're included in Kingdoms & Warfare. You can copy them from the pdf.
Diego y Jose suenan como los malos de una telenovela jajaja
This looks like one of those encounters that easily could have been 30 minutes if it weren't for the bad guys constantly rolling 20s and the players being incapable of rolling higher than a 10. A good reminder that there's no balancing out dice mojo.
Glad you liked, and yes. Blame Dice curses :p
Adjusting for all the questions that needed to be answered and everyone's unfamiliarity with the new rule system, the battle was surprisingly quick. I mean, an hour isn't fast by any means. But an hour long battle at the end of a session sounds like a fantastic blowoff. The constant threat of losing units adds a level of tension that normal encounters just don't have. I'm already picturing my players reacting to a friendly npc being part of a unit that routed. Thank you for the video. And thank you Matt Colville for this amazing splat book!
I came to see how Kingdoms and Warfare works...having supported the Kickstarter...thanks for doing this...looks like you have more than 5 people watching!
Honestly it was a good surprise. :) We enjoy play together and share our experiences. Glad you liked the test run.
@@AverageRoll I watched the following up video with the martial advantages...also great stuff!!! I hope you put both rule sets together strong holds and followers with kingdoms and warfare!!! That would be something! I also have subscribed!
@@AverageRoll Have your ever run Kingdoms and Warfare for anyone else? Would you consider it?
@@christophertrainor282 I played in a couple of battles over Discord, the community got enthusiastic enough that they set up a separate server from the MCDM one. I haven't run an intrigue yet or looked at the adventure in the book, in hopes that someone else will eventually run it. -Daniel
@@AverageRoll SPOILERS STORM KINGS THUNDER so the group I play completed Storm King's Thunder...and I got the crazy idea of running warfare at the climatic battle with in a non cannon sense...similar to your group...I was thinking...that maybe we could do a one shot of the warfare for the battle of the Storm Giants and Rocs vs the Gargoyles, that was happening while we were fighting Iymrith...still on the drawing board and maybe more than a little OP...but that is why we call it D&D!!
