Just came across your channel. That's a nice truck! I have a '97 Silverado with 267,000+ miles on it. The shifting was not good. I just changed the fluid and all four solenoids. No more problems. I may be late with that info for ya. But a good rebuild is not bad. Should last another 300k. Good luck!

I have a 91 GMC Sierra pretty much the same truck u ever get problems with the distributor my truck always stalls out on red lights or traffic. Also is ur engine rebuilt? I have a 5.7

On flat areas where you are going high speeds, you are fine towing in DRIVE (includes overdrive). These trucks have a 4 speed automatic and forth gear is your over drive gear which is very tall. I think it is 0.69 ratio. In hilly areas and windy road and slower speed, definitely put it in 3, that will stop it from shifting in and out of OD all the time which will heat up the tranny and destroy it. My dad towed a 6500 trailer with this tranny for 350 miles and he didn't put it in 3 and he blew up his transmission, I have 2 friends who did the same thing. A good transmission cooler was a very smart upgrade!

Just got this exact same car with the exact same color for $500. Owner didn’t know where was wrong and was going blind. Turns out all it needed was a battery, tire and oil. It had 211k miles on it. I paid $974 for it and it runs like a dream.

I noticed my gear box leaking on my OBS i just picked up...steering wheel play just like yours.......gotta' get that front suspension kit with the pitman idler tie rods ball joints when i do the gear box and we should be💯

Nice truck dude I have a 94 K 1500 Z71 same color as yours I've got 500,000 Miles on the original engine I just rebuilt the transmission at 467,000 Miles and it was still going because it was starting to slip. As far as towing if you're on flatland put it in overdrive , you've got a bigger transmission cooler that's all you need but in the mountains downshift to third/drive.😊

I always tow in regular (D) not over drive.. n never over 65 lol .. could be dangerous specially with ur set up .. but hell yeah I’m ah chevy man as well yo.. 👍👍💪💪🤘🤘👌👌👏👏👏🎉🎊🎈🎆🎆.. keep in trucking 👍👍 good deal.. by the way say wats up to ur sis for me.. 😎
