Nice job. Can you comment more on the choice of the regular Northeast Face route versus the red rocks? My understanding is that you had a short class 4 chimney on the ascent, versus class 3 with loose rocks on the descent. Also, did you ever use that ice axe, or crampons? It didn't look like it.
Very nice video. What camera did you use and were you using a chest mount?
Thank you. I used a GoPro hero 11 and a Samsung s23 ultra. Yes, I used a chest mount as well as a head mount for this video.
Can you send a link to the gloves you are using?
Here is the link. They were much cheaper when I bought them tbh. I would find something comparable under $15 on Amazon. a.co/d/0f5uzWPM
@@trvrsoutdoors Thx!
Dude - I so appreciate your joy in your laughter about how gorgeous it is up there! That was great! Great video, great trip!
Thank you! Im glad I was able to capture the experience in a way that's honest and relatable. I remembered that the path gets drastically more beautiful above the notch, but it still caught me off guard.
Amazing! Mt Baldy and 10 peaks next!
Ugh. Dreading it. But maybe this fall.
@@trvrsoutdoors I don’t blame you but boy would that be epic! I’ll be eagerly waiting to watch your video! I know you can do it!
Great job on video. Middle Pal and Williamson were my two favorites and most challenging.
map!
Thank your for the great video
Thanks for posting this. It brought back a memory and an idea I had long ago. Interesting to see that side of the Palisade Crest in a video. I am used to Third Lake & Temple Crag and the other lakes up to the glacier and beyond to Agassiz. I have a mental note to try the other side: The yellow Brick Road on Gayley, Middle Pal, Normal Clyde. One day...Cheers!
We did Villager in April 2022 and dropped 2L of water along the way at one point for the return. I definitely want to do Rabbit someday, but I'll make it a 2 day trip and drop water for the return trip. You should look up Lorenzen's Peak (aka Dawns Peak) from Rockhouse Canyon. There's a huge rock spire on top of that one. I'm aiming to do that one this winter in an overnight trip.
Amazing climb and video, respect from the UK
Much appreciated. Definitely a worthy mountain adventure.
Loved your video, especially the laughter and joy at such beauty!
Thank you! I was so grateful to capture the experience in a way that others can share. I'm not always in an expressive mood when I'm doing this stuff. Haha.
Really spectacular summit views.
So there is no bergschrund to jump right now? The snow goes all the way to the rock? Let me know as I have a friend I’d like to take up and not have to jump as I did years ago.
No jump! I did eye the bergschrund on the northern glacier, but not where I went up.
That exact route is on my bucket list, but I want to do it over 2 days and bring a bike in between Momyer and Vivian Creek trailhead. My big concern is car break-ins. Any issues with your vehicle? Oh, yes, I hate mylar balloons too! I always pick those things up.
The bike is always a fun addition on these routes. Did not observe glass on the ground or have any problems with breaking. The Momyer trail is not very secluded, so I can't imagine someone bresking into cars at that trailhead.
@@trvrsoutdoors What month did you go and how was the weather? You were wearing pants and there was still lots of snow. I was thinking June timeframe.
@@boyfester This was June 23rd, 2023, but we had a massive snow year in 2022. Right now, the majority of the mountain is clear of any snow.
@@trvrsoutdoors Thanks. I volunteer at Black Mountain fire lookout tower near Idyllwild and get a great view of Old Grayback aka San Gorgonio Peak every time I visit. Last weekend, I still saw some snow on the southeast side but couldn’t tell how much is up there.
@@boyfester wow that is surprising. If there is snow on the southeast side, there might be more to north. maybe fall then
Nice work dude, love the sierra, love the videos of yours I’ve watched ; let me know if you ever wanna sync up and climb some 5th class.
Ngl This invite makes me a little nervous. Haha. Haven't done anything 5th class yet.
Good video Miroki
Thank you!
Love it all
Thank you!
Incredible! Would love to do that someday. I went up to finger lake last year around now. That forest was super buggy!!😂. Such awesome country, though.
I could totally see that area getting bad with the bugs. Glad I was able to get out bite-free.
Great video. I want to make it up to that area (or Little Lakes, Thousand Lakes etc) this year. Those climbs are crazy. I'll climb them vicariously through your videos while I stay on the nicely packed trails.
Ha! All beautiful areas with so many excellent trail networks. As long as we're both getting out there, we're both beating everyone on the couch!
Great video - thank you for your efforts
Love doing it! Thanks for watching .
I absolutely need to address the fact that I totally messed up and unknowingly brought a dog to a California State Park, which I did not know was not allowed. There were no signs indicating this at the trailhead (which is basically just a turnout off the road). I adopted Canelo at the age of 4 and had him for a bout four months when this outing took place, so excuse me for not being very well versed in outdoor travel with four legged friends. I've since put a lot more effort into ensuring I am following the rules with this kind of thing. Thanks for understanding and I hope you can enjoy the video anyway.
Thanks for watching everyone. I've gotten several comments noting that I incorrectly noted this hike as Class 3 in this video. While I do feel like one small portion of the route I selected involved a bit of a scramble, I have to agree with everyone in clarifying that this route can in fact be done completely within the class 2 range. Thanks again for all the feedback.
Another nice video , glad your up there again .Dagg ,Gods country .Love the vid. Great views & breathtaking backgrounds.God Speed R.J. enjoy & "salud compadre" 😲💪🍻👌💯😎
Thank you for watching, pops!
Great POV video. That climb looked sweet.
Thanks. It was really fulfilling to try something new and challenging as opposed to doing the same route I'd done before. And yes, it was totally sweeet.
Really enjoying your videos. Your enthusiasm for the beauty of the Sierra and your positivity are contagious! As someone with aspirations to complete the California 14ers (and with a couple in the bag already), your videos are super informative and very well shot. I can’t imagine the work it takes to set up some of the shots you take. Thank you for taking the time to share these great videos with us…look forward to more. Cheers 🍻
This comment means a lot because although filming this trek went impeccably, there are some outings that go very awry and I have to pivot, which can be very daunting. Fortunately, I'm getting better at navigating this stuff with every effort, but there is absolutely a bit of a learning curve. Thanks a lot.
Why go thousands of miles to other countries when great mountaineering is right here. San Jacinto is my favorite mountain on the planet, not that I have climbed that many. Now live in Az, miss this mountain a lot. Always wanted to do snow creek, so thanks sooo much for taking us along. Great job. Such an awesome mountain🏜️⛄️
Oh man, I shared that exact sentiment for this one. It is such a unique route that transcends the rest of Southern California outdoor spaces. I'm so grateful to have one of the best and most difficult mountaineering routes in all of the US in the middle of the desert in Socal. What an absolute gem. Thanks for watching!
great vid man. thats an insane long hike.
Thank you very much. It was an absolute slog, but worth every step.
I would love to have half the energy that Canelo has!! Lol
He really is unstoppable. The days that I actually tire him out, I am very proud of.
I absolutely love it!! Thank you so much ... I love you from the 🌎 to the 🌙 and back!!
You are so welcome!
Arjayyyyy! 🎉 super cool !!!!!
Thanks Rooobz!
Your endurance is very impressive! This was my first real hike that I didn't train for and it took me about 3 hours to reach the summit. Definitely gotta get used to hiking in that altitude
Three hours is still great! I always slow down significantly near the 9k mark. Gotta train harder!
That view from the summit! 😍😍😍
Classic!
Good morning
Morning JOn!
Wow, you are a hiking beast, congratulations
Aww, shucks!
YIKES 😬
Map please! 😊
Absolutely impressive! I've done something similar to this as a 3-day backpacking trip, but to do it in one day is madness. Great job!
Thank you! Glad I was in shape to do it in a day just to say I did, but spending the night under the stars is always the preferred method!
Taking Trail Blazers to another level !!😅 Did a few mini ones by default hiking down under the Baldy ski lifts😊
Love that route! I havent taken the road down in years because of it!
Map!
Impressive accomplishment. Oh to be in that kind of physical condition. I would not have thought it possible to go up that creek in a day much less at all. I've stopped below along Highway 111 and looked up Snow Creek never thinking anyone could hike up that. Congratulations !
Gorgeous views, pretty tricky and tedious descent through loose rocks, I guess your good conditioning helps a lot. descents seem tougher in the rocky steep Eastern Sierra.Great video !!
I thank you for this videos I usually hike just for a few hours Never done overnight but This makes me wanna try Keep the good trail report Peace
Wow!! I used to live in idlewild, and i always looked at that mountain and wondered about getting up that face. Outstanding job!!
Love your content! These lesser known hikes are so cool to see.
Thank you. Gotta do a little both to get the views up, but if it were up to me, it would SOLELY be the deep cut gems.
Claremont loop is way over used! Lol I don’t even consider it a hike anymore. It’s now a wide dirt path with incline lol
Good training and ease of access, but DEFINITELY overrated and crowded.
Is the road closed into the canyon? Last time I was there, you could drive to around your 5 mile mark.
I believe you have to get a permit to drive into that area. There was a van there at the beginning and end of our trek.
I worked up there. Never had a chance to hike the area. Thank you
Anytime! Thanks for watching .
Such a lovely Vizsla ❤
Thank you!
4.5 miles 😂😂
Lots of vert too!
