"From Elvis to 80s rock." erm NO! Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie Mercury as a tribute to Elvis, it was never an Elvis song. It was written a couple of years after Elvis' death. We Will Rock You was a 1977 song, not 80s. Queen never broke up and Freddie wasn't diagnosed HIV+ until 1987, two years after this performance. In what world did BoRhap "not do well"?

This isn't Andre Matos, it's Edu Falaschi. Andre went to Shaman and Edu took his place in Angra.

Dudes, they, the band and the videomaker, are drawing on surrealism/surrealisme for the visuals. Surrealisme goes back to the early part of the 20th century. Research.

My initial reaction to this was that it was overly dramatic in terms of the lyrics. Everything else was just holy crap amazing. It's one of those that needs the backstory, even minimally, and some time to ponder on. When you're in a band, it's pretty much ruled by the chemistry. Every member is necessary to the whole and without one of them, all of them are essentially lost at least for a bit. It's a family if it's done right. So the over worked drama in the lyrics begins to take form and show itself in terms of what the loss of a single member will do to them all. They'd been together for I think 9 years at the time. I'm new to Nightwish but not to art. As an artist, I get some of what the writer is driving at - keeping the art pure while still making bank. These guys are doing what they love; but, they haven't sold out. They aren't ruled by what the venue is. They'll perform small houses, big houses, stadiums. It's about the art and the fans. The fans in the small venue matter as much as the fans in the big venue. The thing Tarja's husband was pushing was to go big - make it big. There's a certain extent to which when you do that, you sell your soul to a label. Your reciepts might increase but your take doesn't necessarily rise. Fame and popularity are two entirely different things. Nightwish is popular. They're not necessarily famous. I'm in my 50s and have only heard of them recently. But they're a band with a huge following. So the drift I get is what Tarja was asking risked the band's autonomy, relationship with fans, integrity of the writer as he would then have to answer to a label and dance their dance instead of his own. The more one looks at the situation, the more it becomes clear just how much something seemingly small could risk everything the band was about. The loss of a band member also runs the risk of destroying the band. It's not a small thing. So Tuomas was put in a position where he was having to choose between two versions of destroying the band - changing or removing a member. Hell by any other name for an artist with an established troupe. So, from overly dramatic to maybe it's not dramatic enough. It's a tough thing staring at the real possibility of watching what you put together as a life.. going down the toilet. Today a lot of people are watching that happen in my country because of politics trying to change the very nature of what my nation is. And the people are fighting back - calmly. Amazing to watch but it makes this song right now so much more relatable with the high tension and emotion over what the future holds and either way a major change has to take place. The country is staring into the abyss knowing hard choices have to be made to save what remains and recapture what we are vs what others have tried to impose upon us. No, decidedly not dramatic enough; but, again, holy crap are these guys good at what they do. Floor.. cant say enough good about her. I don't consider myself a fan of all they've done. I'm a guy with a genius level IQ and really smart.. evolution is just crap so while the piece sounds great, "greatest show on earth" may as well be an ode to toilet paper. The talent these folks have - the level of production. Stellar. They should be bigger. Not because of some label or deals cut.. they just really put it all on the line to tell a story. And it's amazing to watch. I don't have to agree with them on everything they believe to know talent when I see it and appreciate the phenomenon. Amazing group! Full stop. But Floor.. that first piece you watched was end of the tour for her first tour with them. She arrived on 48 hours notice, had to learn their entire setlist on the fly, showed up and performed as an emergency replacement lead. So Wacken represents what she managed to develope on the road, literally. It's a tour de force. I have so much respect for what she did in such a small amount of time. By the end of the tour you'd think Floor had been with them from the beginning and they were doing a greatest hits live. The polish is phenomenal. And my intro to them was Tarja's Phantom of the Opera. Big letdown to see she was gone. The story just gets more intriguing. Floor is a gem, the band is phenom and it'll be interesting to see what their next thing is. Jukka is out, Marko is gone. I'm wondering if I found the band as it wrote its own epitaph by some mad accident. But what an amazing thing to watch.

Trent's version is a call for help, it is pure and it is from the soul. Cash used this version to interpret his passing. Although I respect cash, the lyrics were written by Trent in a very difficult time where he couldn't even sing them. To ask which version is better is almost hypocritical. Cash is singing Trent's call for help during a very difficult time in his life, and cash is changing this into his passing of life......
