    Interesting how Lapo came out brash and controversial (as seen in your video) whilst his brother John turned out the polar opposite. I wonder what causes such polarity in siblings. Great video! Thanks for posting 🎩

    Lapo was abused as a child in his boarding school. I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it.

    I think The British Royal Family were jealous of the relationship between Prince William of Gloucester and Zsuzsanna (Zsuzsi) Starkloff because they were very much in love with each other and I say that’s not fair to them 👎🏽

    I think you should brush up on your Italian history. The unification of Italy was done by Caribaldi who gave southern Italy to the Savoy It was the Americans who wanted the referendum and they influenceD the results to banish the royal family All royal families have Scandles look at the British royal family

    Uncaptivated. She became a pilot, etc., after William's death. And she called herself "Cinderella". She wound up with a man named Don Sundin, although the interviews I've seen, it was implied she pined for William for the rest of her life.

    Francis Bell is my Dad's Great Aunt. Her husband was the heir to estate. I'm looking for old photography of The Estate. Maybe find a picture of them or of their home. I did find the picture of their Broadview home overlooking Gardiner's Bay. Dennistoun is listed as a fireman at his firehouse on his property in the 1930s.

    From the USA. I am an Italian American. My grandparents came to the USA from Italy around 1920. I am for the reinstatement of the Savoy Monarchy but like the one in Great Britain. I believe that they were treated unfairly. They should be given back their jewelry which was passed down through generations. It does not not belong to the Italian government. The family has already lost property. That should bem enough. They do not owe a debt to the Italian people.

    Thank you. They are obscenely rich however the Portman's trusts do appear to help communities where they have property. The improvements they have made are far superior to the ghastly garish mess of revolting decorated exteriors of nasty shops and takeaways everywhere. It's devasting to see much of London is shabby, vulgar and clutterd with undesirable shop fronts, litter, thunderous traffic and horribly attired people. The elegance of London is only found in the more exclusive areas and even these have fallen victim to unrefined shops. Xxxx ❤❤❤

    Thanks for the video! I disliked the ads, thinking they crossed the line. Also, I'm not sure that the Benetton family is old money. They've had wealth for only a couple generations it seems like. Isn't old money wealth handed down across many generations?

  • @OldMoneyLovers
    @OldMoneyLovers3 ай бұрын

    Hey Colin, You raise a very interesting point about the ads; they certainly have sparked diverse opinions over the years, and it's interesting to hear different perspectives on their impact. Regarding the definition of "old money," you're absolutely right that it traditionally refers to wealth that has been inherited over several generations. The Benetton family's ascent to wealth in the mid-20th century does place them on the cusp of what many might consider being "new money." However, their ability to maintain and grow their wealth, influence, and the legacy over the decades introduces a fascinating discussion on how we classify and perceive old vs. new money in modern times. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Old money is so interesting because it suggests aristocratic values, which stand in marked contrast to bourgeois values that define the modern world, from aesthetics to morality. Thank you for the interesting video! I liked the whole thing and especially the narrator’s RP accent! My question is whether Old Money Lovers can emphasize old money culture (beliefs and practices) in the modern world, in addition to the various possessions and investments. Thanks again!

    @@fieldmarshaljoe I find your comment amusing because I’m a progressive liberal and critical thinker. Call it a historical interest why I’d like to know about Old Money values and culture. Take classicism, for example, as an aristocratic value lost in bourgeois modernity. I laud classicism, not for its aristocratic association, but for its expansive worldview. What else did we do away with needlessly?

    The 1946 referendum was - without doubt - not a completely accurate reflection of the people's wishes. The incumbent government wanted change and there were significant irregularities in it, like the shredding of votes in some places known to favour the status quo. King Umberto II was well aware of these irregularities but decided to avoid civil strife and accept the flawed result. The true result will never be known. What we do know is that the outcome was certainly closer than the official result, IMHO not a definitive enough result to change country's constitutional arrangements.
