I live in a very multicultural area in England..we all get along fine usually, but nowadays even my friends of different ethnicities say there needs to be a more robust check on these young males arriving illegally through trafficking gangs. I'm seeing small terraced houses turned into five and six bedroomed hmo's which is causing issues locally now. Local GP's can't cope, it doesn't feel safe anymore, parking is causing conflicts daily, refuse bins left all over the pavements permanently, theft from vehicles and properties has increased and we rarely even see a police officer in our area. We feel we are being dumped on and forgotten about. Those who can are leaving the area now which is sad to see the local community breaking up.
The triggered gervais fans adding an extra layer to that ending 😂

I love how Alan is obsessed with the people from his childhood. Reminds me of a friend who 25 years later is still bitter that he was in a lower maths set at school 😂
I’ve loved Frankie’s comedy for years, best part of an already good show, Mock the Week, but I’m two and a half minutes into this and I haven’t laughed once. He’s run down Ricky Gervais, whose routines I have laughed at, and praised Hannah Gadsby’s comedy(?). Really!? I don’t want to join the “culture war” but it’s difficult not to when stuff like this keeps happening.
What about other 6 and a half minutes - how was that? I thought it got better tbf, and he got quite meta, talking about what makes comedy comedy. Or some of it anyway. You don't have to join in every culture war you're invited to btw. I think it's possible to enjoy both Gervais and Boyle, and appreciate that they are two very very different voices. It's all so subjective anyway. The difference for me is that Boyle (nowadays, at least) punches up, whereas Gervais only punches down. If making fun of minorities tickles your biscuits, then Gervais' stuff is for you, for sure
@@_fear5296 very good point about the difference in their styles of comedy, like night and day in some aspects. I enjoy both too. That doesn't mean I agree with either 100%, as I don't, and that's just fine.
If your gonna laugh at modern Gervais then your not gonna laugh at modern Frankie. The two are just incompatible these days. Can't imagine anyone who would be able to find both funny. Not everything is for everyone dude, just go listen to Gervais and be happy. Gervais is happy doing his reactionary stuff, Frankie is happy doing his progressive stuff.

@@mayhem492 i think most of those stand up and tell jokes "observational comedy" guys are just talking about issues that their particular audience finds uncontroversial. Imo they are still talking about current issue but the ideology of the audience blinds them to that. I have seen good standups that tell non-issue jokes (some great pun-standups for example), do characters, do physical and visual stuff, surrealists, etc. For some reason though it's seems to be only the boring observationalists and the "issues guys", both of which play to their audiences' lazy preconceptions, that get on TV and sell out arenas.... I wonder why....
