One of my best friends in my neighborhood is a passionate bowler. Played the regional circuit. Would sometimes bowl at Tommy's home bowling alley and chat with him when he'd practice there. said he is one of the nicest guys ever. I was already living in California when he did that though but I caught him in an event in northern california when was in the area visiting another friend and saw him talking to fans. Seemed like one of the nicest guys to me too. I'm glad he won. Around this time (Late 90s, early 2000s), Chris Barnes was basically EJ Tackett before EJ Tackett became EJ Tackett. Showing up in a lot of TV finals but not winning the whole thing til way later lol. I heard he's a real sore loser too so I'm glad he lost lol. Tommy though, big ups to you man you are a true class act!

Small world. Used to bowl in South Florida Masters bowling tournaments back in the 80s. A couple of times Peter Hernandez was on the same pair of lanes I was (this was handicap tournament). The closest I got to him in 1 game was my 197 to his 203. Anyway, ended up getting a 40 hour weekday job and moved on from any possibility of making a living bowling. Living my PBA fantasies on the PBA bowling app right now.

The late 90's - 2000 PBA shows after the ABC contract came to an end always leave me scratching my head... The CBS shows were half-assed and shown on tape, the FOX Sports Net shows just felt off, and these ESPN shows experimented with expanded Finals to 8 to try and get more faces on TV and they all just seem... Any old TV Finals from Woodland Bowl in Indy is always fun to go back and watch prior to when Royal Pin (Parent Company) took lanes 71-80 out to build an expanded arcade and putt-putt area. Now instead of TV Finals on 69-70, they've shifted down a few pairs. The nostalgia traditionalist in me gets sad at stuff like that.
