I paused this episode and listened to Episode 35 as recommended. Laughed when Emma said why she loves drags queens so much, spot on! Talk about fate coming along with the right production of CATS at the right time! What a journey!! I saw The Jellicle Ball 2 days after opening night and was still thinking about it weeks later, I just had to get another ticket. Very excited to see how everyone has settled into their roles! Emma as Shimble was wonderful, and she's right, the wig is everything!!
i love emma so much!!! i love her ever since willy wonka on broadway, i was so happy to find out she's in this cast
and also, i love that they lean in into the rum tum tugger and mistofelees lore!! like yesss!!! that's the right thing to do!!!
he's the most HOTTEST tugger that i've ever seen like my godddd
OHMIGOSH!! Groffsauce! That is so cute!! All the love to our Batshit crazy king, George The Third.❤❤❤
Okay….i love this discussion…good energy and thorough….but i would definitely consider the sequel had 3 incarnations. After Annie 2 bombed they did major rewriting and launched the Annie Warbucks tour…Annie Warbucks 1.0 if you will. New Annie and the songs and characters and libretto was very different than the final off bway version. The Patterson family, the family that takes Annie in when she runs away was black and it worked much better that way. The off bway version had a fraction of the budget it had on tour and the cast was considerably smaller….and The Patterson family was white, which i always thought was a huge shame. And fun fact….Annie Warbucks introduces a new orphan, Peaches and the original actress on the tour was none other than a young Christina Milian. Also i kind of expected a mention of the infamous Annie Warbucks performance at the Thanksgiving parade that featured a freezing Kathryn Zaremba….Kathryn was spectacular and a favorite of Martin’s. She was TINY and Harve was so tall. They had great chemistry.
Never knew there were any sequels made for the musical. Odd choice to continue a story that has such a nice end already.
justice for passion!
Everything is similar to baseball, to theater, to family. Life is a team effort, you can go it alone but it's more enjoyable when accompanied.
I love Eden Espinosa💚
I love this book so very much <3
I don’t know what it is but the bleeping makes it so funny
Omg holden Ford is gay 😂😂😂 ❤
I loved this podcast - very interesting and thought provoking.
"She's friendzoned pretty hard and doesn't really get out of it, and then she dies.' Made me laugh so hard! Love you guys!
I would love to know more about mungojerrie and rumpleteazer from him. Drew and Jo are my favs
Jesus loves you ❤❤❤❤❤
Three clowns❤
Dear Evan Hansen is kinda like Heathers The Musical when you think about it.
Did you see the Korean production that they aired in theaters? I cried like a baby from the ballet sequence onward. Great show, much better than Webber.
I was living in NYC at the time; an actor myself. I got standing room only tickets (at TKTS Times Square for only $5.00 ) in 1975, three months after it opened. I can't tell you how honored I feel having seen this show with ALL the original cast members (including the four talented ladies in the video above). Thank you! Thank you for making it such a special night for me. You were all FANTABULOUS!
Did you all see the live showing in theaters back in November? Interesting production that ran on an obviously slim budget, but I thought it was more effective than the Broadway/National Tour version. The 'Dressed In Your Pajamas In The Grand Salon' number is way more intense with the lighting than the drink cart going across the stage. Lots of fun, for what it is.
A Chorus Line was my 2nd musical play seen - in SF 1976 - Donna McKechnie, Priscilla Lopez, Baayork Lee were in the show. Lucky to see Ms. Lopez again in Day in Hollywood as well.
Only thing I remember about Kronk's New Groove is they made an Evita joke where he tells his secretaries, "Don't cry for me, Marge and Tina" and the Gollum joke with the 'Beware the groove" guy. That's honest to God all I remember.
I always thought John Truitt was the sleeper villain of the film. He still busted her lip open, and that just doesn't sit well with me 💁♀️
I saw Chess at the Kennedy Center and it was so wonderful to see! Raul and Ramin killed it!!
The original and the best Rum Tum Tugger. Terry is a very good dancer and has a great voice. Got to see him early in his Broadway career in 'Barnum'
this rocks, great ep
Rob is my Angel!!! 😇😍
I didn't really pay attention to the images on the screen, I just enjoyed the music!
Music 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 🔔🎐🔔...2024.
I just think it’s funny that Alex Baldwin and Russel brand were gay in this movie
Eu amo ❤❤❤❤❤❤ ela .
Ela está cada dia mais linda ❤❤❤.
Her hair is amazing! Work of art
Just saw him playing this role at Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal, NJ. He’s phenomenal and the production is beautiful!
Hi Mike, do you plan to see the reconceived Off-Broadway revival of CATS this June? Would you dedicate an episode to your review of it?
Me and some friends went to see the 2024 version and we had so much fun! Of course we had all seen the OG film, however none of us saw the musical on broadway so all the music was new to us. I literally burst out laughing at some of the jokes and comedic dialogue and it’s been so long sense I have so that was fun..Damien saying ‘Regina made everyone say good morning to the sissy Liz toy and it was weird and boring’ had me dying lol I’m glad the film was financially and critically successful for all the hard work the cast and crew put into making the film, it was a risk and I think it deff paid off! 2 out of the 5 of us that went did not know it was a musical so I agree the marketing was very mysterious! Great video guys! I also think Sadie Sink would have been a great Caddy!! She can sing and gives Lindsey Lohan vibes!
There’s a misunderstanding happening in the discussion over “Camille’s death”. The progression of the song states that these are three separate lies, so Camille didn’t die in the boat and Judith probably didn’t kill her.
Michael is my cousin his Aunt is my grandmother
💛💚
Fun fact: The latest licensed script, from 2023, replaces the Chinese missionaries with a pair of bratty orphan kids. Reno disguises herself as a Hollywood starlet instead of a Chinese maiden. Oddly, Evelyn still sings "The [Romani] in Me."
So thankful that I saw him in Milan 🥰 Please come to Germany!
❤❤
I always wanted her to star in a Coretta Scott King biopic.
Soft spoken
LOL I thought this was the SONG Wicked Always Wins from Once Upon A Time the TV show... Check that out it's great from the The Wicked Witch
The wedding scene is a dream squence
He is wearing an outfit Michael would have absolutely rocked! What a handsome young man.
I love Jacob Brent he inspires me each time I dance I always look up to him I knew CATS since I was grade 4 now I’m a performing arts graduate hi from the Philippines
