When i saw this bakkie the first time i thought it was a ford ranger. I liken this to the mercedes navara story i am not impressed. My love for amarok is gone.
The new Amarok is definitely a vanguard design in its category, smooth ride, great comfort and suspension. Go for it, it's a great investment 👌👌👏🔥 The guy in the commercial looks familiar 🤔🤔
Hey. I am in nz . I own a 550nm amarok. And i love it. But as a off road vehicle i really dont rate it. Obviously i am the problem and not the ute. Here in nz the v6 doesnt come with a rear diff locker. So the other day i had it stuck on a minor incline with wet grass. Its on cooper a/t tires 265 something r20. I am quiet keen to equip it with a e-locker but vw nz won't sell me a genuine set up and haarop doesnt do a e locker. So we are left with arb... .... any advice?

How does the 4x2 perform of road
Hi Brunmore. Thanks for stopping by. A 4x2 wouldn't have as much grip and the same level of performance, on or off-road as a 4x4 /4MOTION® Amarok. It would however be best to feel and experience the difference firsthand.
It depends on the terrain. Obviously in soft sand, steep inclines and mud, the 4x2 will struggle. I’ve taken my 4x2 Amarok biTdi to places like Anysberg, Where the roads are quite bad and not once did it struggle. 4x4 will always beat 4x2 off road though.

Does Amarok have reverse issue?
Hi Siraaj. Thank you for taking this up with us. We're not aware of a prevalent concern like this on the Amarok. Should you experience any on concerns on your vehicle, we suggest getting in touch with your local Volkswagen Dealer in order for them to assess your vehicle.
Out of my experience .. yes it has under heavy load
I quickly skimmed through the comments below. Our 2011 BiTDi still a lovely vehicle with manual box and transfer case (Low Range). I cannot understand why Volkswagen of all places here in SA try so hard to push the auto box, though it is an excellent vehicle. For those who don't realise it, the 2L BiTDi is still available with a manual gearbox, transfer case and diff-lock. I did Andre De Villiers' training last year and can truly recommend it. @Freddie Robertson below.... You'll be amazed what the Amatrok is capable of. No its not witchcraft :-D.... Just brilliant engineering! Here is the biggie though.... Australia launched a manual 4Motion with the V6 this year. Common VW South Africa, can we have some sense! I know Andre will agree! Being naughty now....

@@amarokcoza Simply chewing on you answer from a month ago. In fact your answer was a very bland answer to a Amarok punter. So straight out then, when are we going to see the V6 manual Amarok in South Africa. It is what we need here. VW Autralia listened to the Ausie Amarok owners. It has been two years now, but in Africa we only have the V6 Auto! It does not make sense! Love my 'Trok
Please clear up the reversing issues in soft sand or inclines.. Rumor has it that it's high revs no action
Hi Wilfred. The gear ratio of the reverse is like a normal reverse and the power of the engine is cut to protect the driveline / gearbox. Thus, in soft sand you need to deflate your tyres to 0,8 bar. The Amarok can do a 35 degree incline in first gear with a 1 ton payload and 20 degrees in reverse.
Front and rear difflock?? Not sure if that is correct? My 2018 Bitdi has a button only for the rear difflock?
Hi Freddy. Thanks for supporting Amarok! To clarify - The Amarok is equipped with EDL’s , this stands for Electronic Differential locks for the front and rear axle. It works different from a Traction Control system. The EDL will automatically select when one wheel on the axle has lost traction and this function works below 60km/h and below 3000rpm. Thus, no input from the driver and it is controlled by the ECU. The Amarok is also equipped with a Magnetic rear axle differential lock that you can select, the button is positioned next to the gear lever. It's important to note that t

@@amarokcoza Thanks I already received a quotation from Acantha and I will most definitely have to attend the training, as it seems like the Amarok has allsorts of witchcraft I clearly know nothing off. :) I have plenty experience offroading but I need to get to know my vehicle and what its capable of. I will be at Seikel 4x4 on Monday the 14th December to fit a dustkit for the tailgate. Looking forward to meeting you guys.
@@amarokcoza quick question, and thanks for the video. I'm in the market for a Amarok. I spoked with my mechanic and he advised me to stay away from auto gearboxes. I have been driving manual's all my life and a bakkie and auto would be a first for me. Would you recommend the auto over the manual and why? I've seen many complaints about the auto problems from models between 2010-2014
Hi@@marschlionoalexander8498. Thanks for your interest in the Amarok! Our Auto model is on par with the Manual. It has a “creeper” gear as first gear and is permanent four wheel drive - the only pickup in the market to feature this. This feature also has enhanced safety benefits in hazardous situations. Sarel van Der Merwe also chooses the Auto over the Manual and says it makes off road "easy". In terms of the reported concerns over this transmissions - we can't comment on these as they each have to be looked at individually, on merit. As the manufacturer, we aren't aware of any prevalent concerns on this gearbox - especially ones that would've warranted a recall. What we can advise is that new Amarok's come with a standard 3 year / 100 000km factory warranty, intended to address any unforeseen concerns on the vehicle that are related to defective parts or components.
Just saw Spirit of Africa Challenge fossils from the days of Mitsubishi Triton. 😂 Nothing beats the thrill and adrenaline generated from testing the vehicles capabilities and limits.
