Great review and I totally agree with your frustration... Over the years I've done SCL - LHR (BA's longest flight, 15.5 hours) on their 787-9 almost a dozen times. The hard product is awful unless you get one of the few window seats with direct aisle access. What bothers me the most is the lack of storage, and how worn out and uncomfortable the seats are in bed mode. In September I'll be traveling via Paris with Air France in their A350, so it'll definitely feel like an upgrade!

Whilst the main does look disappointing if you can pre order your choice with American and you didn’t do that I don’t see how you’ve got any right to moan when you don’t get your preferred option.

Thank you for watching and for providing feedback! I don’t disagree with you about me taking responsibility for not preordering my main as I did indicate in the video this was something I should have done. However, in my previous experience flying first class with Oneworld Airlines, I have never run into the problem of meals not being available. I think this is a terrible cost-cutting measured by American Airlines to a product they generally charge thousands of dollars per person per way. There are only 8 first class seats while business has 52 business. I think that running out of first meal selections for first class products shouldn’t be possible considering the significant up-charge. Also, not everyone who might purchase this seat normally flys American and would know that pre-ordering is required or there may be people who are not technologically savvy to navigate pre-ordering before the cutoff period. The second dining option being suspicious looking chicken didn’t help the experience. To be honest, this is a very privileged thing for me to complain about as it was an honor to fly this product. I am just trying to provide the most honest feedback to help people make flight choices as I know most people do not generally follow aviation products as closely as aviation enthusiasts. There’s an upcoming British airways first review which I think contrasts this experience well comparing how British Airways handles first class. I appreciate the comment and feedback!

@@AlaskaMileRun I understand what you are saying however with 8 first class seats and 3 or 4 choices that’s 24 or 32 meals they need to have of which 8 will be used. Firstly there’s not the galley space for that, secondly that’s a lot of waste and thirdly this problem can be prevented by pre ordering which American do very well. I’ve always pre ordered, got my choice of meal and on each occasion I’ve even been asked if I wanted to switch.

@@realman6ft6 I think that’s a fair point to make. However, British Airways and Qantas both have planes with 8-14 first class seats on board. On both airlines, I have never seen them run out of first meal options even on their A380 with larger cabin configurations of first class passengers. What I have seen is those airlines tend to allow the crew to enjoy first class meals that are left over instead of them being wasted. Therefore, I think very little first class food is actually wasted on those airlines since the crew were more than happy to enjoy the first class meal instead of what is being offered and other cabins. It’s cost cutting by American Airlines rather than them truly trying to be more sustainable since the other airlines have been able to manage the waste aspect without preordering. I still think it’s a valid point for you to raise and I appreciate your comment nonetheless! Thanks again for watching and stay tuned to see the completely opposite stance of how British Airways provides their First Class offering.

@@AlaskaMileRun you’d be surprised on BA there’s only 2 or 3 items of one item loaded so up to 11 people will be disappointed. There’s not the galley space to cater for every passenger every course and contrary to belief cabin crew don’t eat First left overs. Food preference is given by status and then by commercial value score. . Can’t comment for Qantas,

Awesome video mate, love Alaska Air's First Class product from the FA service, drinks, snacks, food and presentation on a stylish wood inspired tray and metal utensils! I don't like all the negative comments on what transpired w the Max9 door plug, had nothing to do with Alaska Air but what NTSB does best is find where things went wrong with Boeing which should results in the much needed changes for Boeing. I love Alaska Air and Hawaiian Air. I hate United, service is horrible to Hawaii. I wish Hawaiian Air does a stopover to Guam before heading to its Oceania destinations. I'd take Hawaiian Air in a heartbeat over sh*tty United when flying between Guam-HNL and over to the US Mainland.

@@devonsanchez8292 thank you for your kind words and for watching! I definitely agree, I believe Alaska is definitely underrated in terms of first class offerings. I’m not a big fan of United either especially on their narrow body planes. The MAX plane situation has been a very sad chapter in Boeings history. Considering the number of planes they found with the unbolted door, it is a miracle no more accidents occurred or loss of life occurred with the MAX 9 like it occurred in the tragedies with the MAX 8 crashes. I know Alaska takes great pride with their maintenance and so I’m glad that they were able to at least work through that issue and land the plane safely. That is a great point to make about the Guam service. I believe United is currently the only US airline to serve Guam. Alaska can make a good faith effort in getting this deal approved by maybe launching a service from Honolulu to Guam to provide competition for that route. I have found Hawaiian and Alaska to have very similar service excellence and that seems to be a match made in heaven with their unique brand identities and culture. I’m so exited for this all of the great possibilities for two historic domestic airlines. More exciting reviews are on the way so please stay tuned for new reviews! Thanks again for your insight and comment!
