    On something like that it's a frequency drive with a frequency drive you can transfer as much electricity as you want to the motor the limiting capabilities of a motor is its ability to cool itself if it's designed for 5 KW of cooling that means it's dissipating 5 kilowatts of electricity can you put 10,000 kilowatts in it the motor will overheat unless you have some kind of cooling system to cool the motor down

    @@ags5080 exactly! There are really 3 patters most conversions fall into: 1- swap in an oem system and connect to the driveline (or transfer case for this one), this is typically Leaf or Tesla swap, 2- take a oem or aftermarket motor and use an aftermarket gear reducer (like torque trends torque box) and connect to driveline, 3- take a oem or aftermarket motor and connect to a manual transmission (auto can technically be done but has enough downsides it rarely is in practice).

  • @EVTUNERS

    @@ags5080 cool car! Is it already manual transmission? If so keeping it cab lower cost, but if you would have to swap one in I'd suggest going with a motor and single gear setup. The hyper9 setup is a good one to connect to a manual. Best balance comes down to budget/range/use. Hyper9 with Tesla cells are a great combo. What are your range and use plans?

    Thanks for the review and differences of your vehicle. I purchased my 2023 model Y LR in August and now have driven it for 4 months. I really like the vehicle and I wanted the larger hatchback style vehicle. I now have all kinds of storage room if needed. The vehicle has the dual motor and plenty of acceleration for any big hills, etc. I do not do off road driving, just highways. Many features in this vehicle which I really like and the built in Navigation display and operations are fantastic for me. Preconditioning is another nice feature. I set the departure for a certain time in the morning or whenever, and when I get into the vehicle it is all warmed up for me in the colder days now. I only have basic Auto Pilot and have hardly used it at this time. I have no need for EAP or FSD - cost is too expensive and really don't need it. Thanks again and happy holidays.

  • @EVTUNERS
    @EVTUNERS7 ай бұрын

    Right on @dathyr1 I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the Y! I occasionally consider getting one to daily so I can leave the 3 set up for the track. I agree with you on all those creature comforts. Preconditioning is awesome, and when we do supercharge the battery preconditioning is better for battery health too. Turns out not every ev does battery preconditioning for charging.

    It is, but this (I assume) caters to those wanting an EV weekend toy to put a couple thousand miles a year on and not a daily commuter. The toy aspect includes wanting to shift and hooking into the existing transmission and keeping the driveshaft/diff/axles makes the install simpler. I have a buddy who had his Porsche 912 EV converted with a Hyper9 motor and kept the shifter and he said he does enjoy the option to shift or just leave it in 3rd and go.

    The previous reply said it all. You don't have to couple the Venom box to a manual transmission. Instead, you can add a simple reducer and keep it in one gear. Some people love the feeling of switching gears. I use 1st gear for burnouts, 3rd gear for daily driving, and 5th for highway.
